There were only two words Adalina could think of to describe winter. Cold. And Miserable. Being born just after last winter she'd never experienced such cold. Until now of course. The one time she was away from home. Snow fell from the sky, mostly covering her multi-colored spots until she shook it all off. She'd been on her own for a few months now and she figured she'd given her parents enough space for the time being. She wanted her warm comforting home back and to be out of the bone-chilling cold.
So the mare trudged on through the snow, hoping she was heading in the right direction towards home. But the snow continued to blow, straight into her face and halting her progress every few feet. There was no way she could travel in this weather. Turning away, Lina headed for the cover of nearby trees. It would still be cold but at least she'd be out of the snow until it calmed down a bit.
Once safely past the trees and under their shelter she took one final shake to rid herself of the clinging snow and turned to stare out at the flury of snow falling every which way.

Feilea had never placed much importance on the changes in weather, although she was partial to cool nights, and liked to watch the wet downpours in summer with the lightning that streaked across the sky... but the cold seemed familiar to her somehow. Perhaps it was her grandmother's influence, since Sukari seemed especially partial to this type of weather.
Golden hues stared down at her feet, as they always did, as she trudged aimessly through the white powder, slightly enraptured by the paths her hooves made in the snow. Perhaps it was just boredom, but she found some amusement in the ability to leave patterns on the ground through which she had walked, sometimes diverting her path simply to make nonsensical designs in the cold substance. It would be covered with a new layer of snow by the time she returned to this area again, but... it was... fun, in some tiny way.
Shaking her head, the mare frowned at her own thoughts, lifting her gaze to look forward on her path. It was then that she laid eyes upon a bit of color in the distance, almost a rainbow-like pattern, spots... and recognition flared through molten amber hues as she remembered just who wore the bold design on her coat. A tiny, almost invisible smile lifted the corners of her mouth, and as she came within earshot, she lowered her head and spoke in a quiet voice, so as not to frighten the young mare she had known as a filly.
"Adalina."

Despite the other mare being quiet and her voice gentle, Lina still startled a bit at hearing her name since she wasn't expecting anyone else to be around. She had to study the dark-haired wind mare for a moment before she smile lightly and relaxed. "Feilea. You sure don't know how happy I am to see a friendly face. I thought I would be stuck out here by myself until the snow blew over. Well...If you leave I still will be, I won't stop you of course. But...It's good to see you. How have you been?" Surprisingly as a kid, whenever Lina was around Feilea she didn't feel like the shy one. But more the outgoing one of the two, which sounded strange even in her mind because she never did anything outgoing. The first time they had met as foals it was clear of how timid this mare was. Hiding behind an adult and not even wanting to talk to one of her own size. Even she talked to other foals, they didn't frighten her much. But Lina being the kind and gentle heart that she was, befriended her. Well at least she hoped they could call each other friends of some sort.

Eyeing her through the veil of her ebony forelocks, Feilea's smile widened a tiny bit, glad to see that their exchanges had not been forgotten. The shy foal that had spoken to her seemed to be a kindred spirit, though in an entirely different way from herself... but it was a relief to see her again, though she may have been reluctant to admit it.
"It is... nice to see you again, too." The words were unfamiliar, as was the expression on her face, but she would admit that it was pleasant to meet a familiar face, and one she didn't mind showing her own face to. Fei made it a point to never reveal her eyes to anyone that she didn't want to see them... although Lina had been an exception.
The question startled her a bit, as did the carefree way her words were spoken. It was rare that someone conversed with her without reservation due to her own nature... and she had thought that Lina's shy personality would only further hinder the exchange. Clearly she was wrong. Maybe the unicorn mare had changed more in adolesence than Feilea herself had...
"I have no desire to leave... and I have been all right." She supposed that was all she could say on that matter. 'All right' was vague enough to cover most of what her childhood had entailed, although admittedly, it had not been nearly as bad as some of the stories she had heard from her herdmates. Her struggle to gain her father's acceptance was mild in comparison to some... though she greatly envied the others that had grown up with the love she had so desired.
"What about you?"

Lina's ears drooped a bit as she turned her head to gaze back out at the snow. "Not so good. I've been away from home for so long and I miss it. Especially now when it's cold and there's no where safe to stay." Memories of her childhood with her brothers and her parents back at that teepee came flooding back, making her smile. Who knew what those troublesome brothers of hers were up to these days. It sure would be nice to see them again... "As soon as this snow storm clears up I'm going to go find it again. I'm not one to be out here by myself. I just feel so...alone. I bet if I had Heph with me it wouldn't be so bad but I don't know where he is. I haven't seen him since we were kids either."
It really wasn't like Lina to be talking so much. It was...very very strange. Abnormal. She'd been by herself so long that it was possible all this talking was making up for lost time. Plus Fei wasn't a stranger. If she was, Lina probably would have high-tailed it out of there right from the beginning. "I-I'm sorry I'm talking so much." She looked down at the ground and shuffled her hooves a bit. "Guess I just miss having a friend around. Family too."
