((Edit: Noticed some general typos. Fixed now.))
I’m going to try rewording/going more in depth with these. I don't know if all of my terminology for SS is correct, but I had an idea while reading yours, so take a look and see what you think of these:
The Soul Laws1. All living things have a soul 1a. A “living thing” is defined by the necessary “characteristics of life” –
see here 1b. Not all souls are sentient (self-aware). Thus, those of plants and most animals are more of an “essence” than a true “soul”.
1c. Sentience requires a “spirit”, which houses one’s consciousness and general mind. Though intangible, the spirit has a definite form, mirroring that of the living body.
1d. Living things that contain a spirit are able manipulate the soul to perform jutsu (or whatever it’s called in SS). This manipulation is explained later.
2. The soul is composed of a unique type of energy called “spire”. 2a. Considering the mass to energy ratio (large mass = large energy), it is unknown what the soul to “spire” ratio is, due to the fact that a method to measure “spire” has not been developed yet.
3(+4&5). The soul uses chi to control the body and cannot function without chi. 3a. On its own, the soul is formless. A body gives the soul form (like water in a pitcher).
3b. Chi provides the anchor/connection between the body and soul, transforming “spire” into energy for motion (kinetic energy?), energy for running natural processes for life (i.e. metabolism), and ryoku.
3c. Chi is recyclable, serving only as a sort of enzyme for “spire” transformations. Still, one has only a semi-fixed amount of chi. This amount is determined by the state of the body – the healthier the body, the larger the chi and thus the more “spire” that can be transformed (which results in more ryoku to be used in jutsu).
6(+7). Should a soul be separated from its body (which can only occur through the severing of the chi anchors), it can only survive for a limited time without needing to be returned or supported in some way. 6a. The life span is determined by the amount of “spire” at its disposal. Once the “spire” has been used up, the soul and connected spirit is collected by a shinigami and is ultimately “dead”.
6b. In order to (re)attach a soul to a body, ryoku must be provided in order to form artificial anchors between the soul and its container. Once stable, the soul will slowly replace these anchors with natural ones made of chi.
6c. A soul can only be supported outside the body if it has a steady source of “spire”.
8. Death occurs when one’s chi reserve is destroyed (i.e. mortal injury, steady depletion through old age, etc.). 8a. Upon death, the spirit and soul is harvested by a shinigami. The soul will be recycled and used again in the future. The spirit is taken either to Heaven or Hell based upon belief/deeds/karma/etc.
8b. In order to reverse death, a massive amount of raw “spire” must be sacrificed to recreate the soul as well as draw the spirit back from its “final destination”. This often results in the death of the one raising the dead, due to the fact that total spire depletion results in the “death” of one’s soul.
9(+10&11). A spirit can remain behind as a “ghost” by being bound either physically or emotionally/spiritually to some object/person in the “living world”. 9a. As long as a connection exists, the spirit can remain free of a living body, however it still requires a source of energy to interact with the world around it.
9b. A ghost can take advantage of existing energy in the natural world (already-converted/free-floating ryoku, heat, electricity, etc.). When drawing on such energy, an EMF (electromagnetic field) is created around the ghost. By building up energy, the ghost can then interact on a physical level with its environment (more energy = stronger interaction).
9c. Without the required energy to move air particles to make true sound, any noise made by a ghost cannot be heard by the naked ear. It can only be detected by electronic equipment, and is thus referred to as an EVP (electronic voice phenomenon).

I hope this works. It makes a lot of sense to me, anyway. Is there anything else needed? Any questions about what I’ve written?
