Crimson blood stained the snow near the main river through the Oasis, ice starting to form near the banks as winter grew harder on the lands. Mirage rose her head, a dead rabbit in the transition between its summer and winter coats hanging from her jaws. She looked around, debating whether or not to return to her home magically or by a more traditional means.
In the end, she chose to walk, for in the long run she liked the cold. Her coat was lighter than the bobcats in the area, but she didn't seem to really notice the freezing temperatures. Her paws made light prints in the snow behind her as she walked. As she did so, she processed the recent events of the Oasis where she had come to start living. The Cat had left her alone and she'd kept herself away from playing with others for the time being. For now, she was just watching, and debating.

Fashir slipped along through the snow, the smallest breezes sent his cloak fluttering around him. He walked with a grace and confidence that might have seemed impossible to many, mainly due to the fact that the wolf's eyes were completely covered by a thick blindfold. He stopped and gave a slight frown as his nose caught the scent of another nearby. His foolish heart gave a flip of joy as it recognized the scent.

Fashir sighed and shook his head moving along intending on ignoring the other, he had a duty to do this day. This day he would give an otter it's sul back, and allow it a chance at redemption.

Mirage continued walking, missing the scent of her counterpart as her breath huffed out in visible clouds. She had a sense of him in the area, but her sense were so full of her meal that she didn't notice until he came into view. She dropped the rabbit, startled, but covered it with a smirk.
"And where are you off to with such determination?" she asked, tilting her head a bit to one side and she settled one paw beside her kill. He looked like he was off to do something sickeningly good and that made her appetite start to wane. If he did any more good, the balance would start to tip and then she'd really be put in a mood. She hated it when Fashir had the upper hand.

Fashir didn't even move his head in her direction, he continued to walk along but his voice carried back. Sadly he found himself still willing to at least acknowledge her question.

"I am going to perform a ritual to return a soul to one who has lost it." His voice was grave, serious, clearly he found this task important. Fashir disliked the wickedness that Angelus exhibited and he was certain that he could manipulate the demonic otter onto a better path.

Mirage frowned, her bright green eyes narrowed with a slight glow to the edges.
"Not many in this area have lost their souls, Fashir, and, to my knowledge, none of them have earned such a reward. What are you up to?" she asked, giving him a very suspicious look. There was no room for playful banter here. Fashir was on a mission and Mirage had a good feeling that his trust was misplaced, as usual. If it was a creature of good that happened to lose its soul, well then she'd concede... with some mild argument.
But if it was one of her "followers"... Well, she'd have something else to say about that, for sure.

"The soul is not a reward Mirage, it is due to all living things. Angelus the Demonic Otter has lost his, he must have it back if he is to have a chance at redemption. A chance he deserves, he is simply misguided I will set him back on the path proper." Fashir wasn't actually certain this time, normally things were very clear to him, but in this case the future was clouded. He could see the otter doing good, some great event however shone over everything else leaving him blinded to the rest of the outcome. He believed that the great shining moment was one of love, but for once doubt had intruded.

Still the wolf moved onward determined to continue in the hopes of bringing Angelus onto the path of goodness. He could see his fate mingled with another otter, she was light, pure, good and in no way could she be swayed to Mirage's path. This was what made him certain that Angelus could be helped, if he crossed paths with this otter, and the blinding moment in his vision was indeed love...then all would be well. If not...well he had never considered what other alternative there may be.

Mirage was normally a cat prone only to rare displays of emotions, majorly anger and frustration. For once, she couldn't control the look of shock that passed over her face.
"Angelus?? Are you insane?" she growled, forgetting her food and running in front of him to block his path. A frown was plastered on her face and her eyes were wide in disbelief that he would do something so stupid.
"Fashir, a soul is a thing given to all creatures and it takes a great thing to lose it. And afterwards, you either don't care or you try your damnedest to get it back. Have you not noticed half of these vampires don't care? Why would you give them back something so precious when they haven't earned it? What does that tell others like them?"
She honestly couldn't believe he'd be so careless.

"I have seen something great for Angelus, but he requires his soul to achieve it...I must give him the chance or he will be forever lost." Fashir frowned as Mirage blocked him and lowered his head to be more level with her.

"Angelus and his consort are two of the most wicked creatures in this area Mirage I can understand why you don't want to loose him, but I must give him a chance." Fashir gave a soft growl, unwilling to let his emotions concerning Mirage sway him. He had seen the golden blinding glow, only real raging love could cause such blindness. He had seen the glow before...for himself and Mirage...and he failed now to see that the end for Angelus could end just as sourly.

Mirage grit her teeth and lashed out at him, intending to slap him, her claws retracted. It was the first time she had ever lashed out at him, physically.
"You're so closed-minded! You've never seen the bigger picture, and that's why things will NEVER work out for you," she hissed, her ears flat against her head and teeth bared in a mixture of anger and frustration. She could care less about losing Angelus. He was wicked, sure, but so were thousands of others in the world that could be moved into his place, no doubt some even worse. That's not what mattered. What mattered was that Fashir shouldn't be giving things out like that for nothing. Screwing with the balance of things like that. Or assuming he knew about HER intentions. Angelus HAD his chance. Why should HE be given another one?

Fashir accepted the blow and tipped his head "Such a show of spirit Mirage, I can appreciate your words, but this good deed I will put into motion."

He frowned at her words, for thinking of himself as close-minded did not appeal to him in the least. He had always been focused though and it was true that he often focused so well that the larger scope of his deeds evaded him. Yet even so he had managed before to turn the tide against evil and into goodness, and love was his greatest tool. True Love.

"That which has not come to be, was in my failure to understand that which I sought to aid." He murmured.

"What does that even mean??" Mirage exclaimed, sitting back to put her paws against the sides of her head. After a moment, though, she let her paws fall and shook her head.
"You know what, nevermind. Do what you will, Fashir, but let it known that I warned you. When Angelus disappoints you and does something so remarkably evil that even I cannot look him in the eye, I warned you," she hissed and turned away from him, heading back to her meal. She didn't want to see him so disappointed. And that would be the outcome, she had no doubt. And despite everything, a part of her still cared for him and hated seeing things blow up in his face.

Fashir sighed and shook himself off feeling a sense of unease, Mirage was no fool, he had always admired her ability to see the large scale. Still he would not be swayed when he thought he had a chance to turn one so wicked onto the path of goodness.

Someday Mirage, you'll see all the good love can do...and maybe you'll be swayed back to me.

He turned and slipped back on his way ready to summon the soul of an angel back for a demon.
