Aradoa has a simple room, like every other Novice in the White Tower. Her wash basin has a chip on the top of the bowl where one of the previous Novices knocked it over. Her cramped wooden bed pushed against the wall holds a lumpy mattress with a few burns in it where a Novice practicing a new fire trick had failed. The wardrobe hold the few Novice dresses given to her along with some white stockings and white shoes. Pushed in the back of the wardrobe is a small box that contains her belt, a sharpening stone and her most precious possession; the knife her father gave her for mastering horseback riding. The fireplace has a crack in part of it, but it still keeps the room very warm when it's lit. This is her first night in the White Tower, and though she would like to calm her nerves by sharpening her knife, she cannot because the Aes Sedai giving her a lesson today took it to try to break Aradoa's block.

Aradoa sat down on the side of her bed. She was mentally exhausted from all the the training she had been put through today, and worst of all she didn't have her knife to sharpen to calm her down. She sat in silence for a few moments, many thoughts running through her head, then suddenly she flung herself onto her bed, burying her face into her pillow, sobbing softly. This had not been what she had expected. Not only had she not even settled into her room and had some rest from traveling before she was herded away by that awful Accepted, but the training she had gone through was brutal. She never thought herself a weak girl, but she felt spineless right now.

After some time crying, Aradoa decided to go for a walk to clear her head. It was late, and Novices weren't suppose to be wandering around, but she couldn't stay cramped up in her room any longer. She fished out a dress she had brought with her from the back of her wardrobe and changed quickly. She then pulled out the darkest cloak she owned and wrapped it around her. She went to grab her knife, forgetting it was no longer there. She angrily threw the box back into the wardrobe. She then carefully peeked her head out into the darkness, and quietly stalked out of the Novice Quarters. . .

. . .continued from The Falcon in Tar Valon

Aradoa breathed a sign of relief as she entered her room and found no Aes Sedai waiting for her. There had been a couple close calls, but luckily her father had taught her how to be stealthy and use the shadows to your advantage. She quickly striped down to her shift, placing everything back into the wardrobe neatly. Before shutting the door, she carefully lifted the knife Cirithil Luinmir had loaned her. She took it out of the wardrobe and closed the door.

Striding over to the bed, she sat down and tried to examine it in the little moonlight that seeped in through her tiny window. It was a very well crafted knife or good quality steel. The curved blade felt right at home in her hand, and she practiced a few moves her father had shown her. The blacksmith who made this knife had done an excellent job; it was perfectly balanced. Aradoa resheathed the knife and tucked it under her pillow. She then crawled into bed, but her eyes remained open.

Aradoa sighed and turned over in her bed. She was exhausted but still couldn't sleep. Her mind was racing from everything that had happened in such a short amount of time. Her travel from Ebou Dar to Tar Valon, the draining lesson she had endured immediately after arriving, the failure she felt at not being able to get passed her block, but mostly the creeping she did out of the Tower and her dinner with Cirithil Luinmir. She turned back over, then sat up and quietly got up from her bed and headed back to the wardrobe.

She dug the wooden box from the back of her wardrobe and opened it, taking out her sharpening stone. She sad back down on the bed, taking the knife out so the steel blade shimmered in the moonlight. She then methodically began sharpening the knife, a soft "tsss" sound emerging from each stroke like a lullaby lulling her to sleep. The blade didn't need to be sharpened, but the effect of doing it was like a beautiful dance to Aradoa, and Light knows she loves to dance. Soon her eyelids began to feel heavy, so she set the sharpening stone on the nightstand next to her bed and put the now sheathed blade under her pillow. She stretched out on the bed, and was immediately asleep.

While the Aes Sedai were a sleep, the servant from Cirithil hurried about her task. While cleaning the room of Aradoa's teacher, the servant made a clay press of the knife. She then went to Aradoa's room, and placed the letter from Cirithil under his knife. He had wanted to answer her question, but could not earlier.

Aradoa,
I fought many battles against the Aiel, so that soon I knew their ways. I was soon taken as Gai'shan. I learned even more of their ways then, and learned that my grandfather was Aiel, one of those who went to the Stone. My grandmother, however, was not Aiel. Nonetheless, I was of the blood. That is why I know of the Aiel. Worry not, for only my grandfather was Aiel. My father and mother were both Sheinaran. It was a pleasure to meet you, though I wonder, do you still fear me?
Cirithil Luinmir, of the Blue Jewel.

Satisfied, the servant closed the door and left. She saw no Aes Sedai at all until she returned to her usual assignments.

Kuro laid on the stiff narrow bed that each novice room contained. She was certainly not accustomed to the...simplicities with in the tower. She had come from a large merchant family in Saldea and while no means was she spoiled, she did have more luxury then this.

She sighed and rolled over dangling her arm off the side of the bed. As she stared off into space she spotted a tiny hole, extremely easy to miss near the head of the bed. She stared at suspicously wondering what was on the other side.

She could imagine the wrath she would face if Aes Sedai caught her whispering into the hole which she assumed went straight through to the room next to hers...she wondered if anyone were in there....

"Psssst"

Aradoa awoken at the sound of a "pssst" coming in through her wall. She groggily opened her eyes and fumbles around her bed looking for where the sound was comnig from. She saw a small hole and nervously talked through it "H-hello? Is someone there?"

Kuro grinned when she heard the sleepy reply through the wall. "I'm Kuro...what is your name?" She whispered back, to excited to remember her manners and apologize for waking the other girl up.

Aradoa smiled, excited to hopefully make her first friend in the tower. "My name's Aradoa. I just got here yesterday from Ebou Dar, what about you? I didn't think anyone was in the room next to me."

Kuro smiled inwardly. "I just arrived today...I would have been here a few days ago but my mother decided I couldn't go, she told the Aes Sedai that came to test the local girls that she wasn't ALLOWED to take me." She giggled. "It was quite a scene."
