Cole was not happy. He was in fact as far from happy as he could be, he was down right upset. Of course, what would be the source of his current state of upset-ness? Who other than his dear mother who once again decided to desert him to another night of Lynett and Evelyn. While that in itself isn’t horrible, bit the fact that whenever Cassi came back in the morning, she always smelled horrible and was even more grumpy than usual. And whenever Cassi was grumpy, who else would she be grumpy at other than her apparently emo, anti-social child. Cole took sincere offensive to being told that he was emo, he didn’t quite understand what that meant, but what ever it did he was certain that it was an insult. Cole was not one to be insulted. All he wanted in life was to practice on his violin and to collect his shinies. Was that too much to ask for? Cole didn’t seem to think so. Deep down he also wanted to have a proper mother with some motherly affection that was plastered all over the TV shows he watched. He wanted Cassi to smile at him and stay at home and tuck him in at night. Yes he would scowl a little at of, it’s what he does, but it doesn’t mean he wouldn’t like it.
But alas, he was stuck instead with a mother with a sincere headache and a need to cart him around on errands that were boring and always ended up with him in some kind of trouble. Of course, today was no different. The errand of the day was to the same café where Cole had met Tanz, the boy who broke his castle.
“I don’t wanna go.”
“Cole, for god’s sake, my head hurts, can we not do this right now? Would that be too much to ask?” Cassi had a firm grasp on Cole’s hand as she led him into the café. “Can we just have a quick brunch-like thing. I need to talk to Otto, and you like pancakes, and maybe Tanz will be here! You liked Tanz didn’t you?” She put as much false cheer into her voice hoping it would convince her disgruntled child that the trip to the café was really a wonderful adventure, rather than whatever torture he believed it was.
“No, I don’t like Tanz, I don’t like pancakes, and I don’t like you,” He muttered as he was dragged into the café. Luckily, shuffling him in through the door had distracted Cassi that she hadn’t heard that last bit. “Just sit in the booth, okay? I need to go find Otto, I’m sure some one will be around soon. Don’t go anywhere.” A stern voice and finger emphasized her point. Cole just sat, pouting at the fact that once again, he was somewhere he did not want to be.
Cassi set her purse down on the table and proceeded towards the counter to see if she could garner Otto’s attention long enough to let him down, either easy or hard, it depended on how he took it.

Tanz was having a fun day, he was coloring in his book and Otto even made him a milkshake for breakfast. He never usually takes him seriously when Tanz asks for it along with his eggs and toast. But he was in an extra special mood this morning and snuck one to Tanz when Neil and Shiri weren’t looking. Not that Neil would care, he has been trying to glare a hole in everyone who so much as breaths. Except Shiri, but his dad was one of the man acceptations to all of Neil’s moods. Tanz doesn’t like Neil that much he is a meany face.
But Tanz wasn’t going to think about that. He was going to have a great day, if a day starts out with ice cream it is bound to be wonderful indeed. The little boy was just getting coloring his hippo in his safari jungle book when the bell above the door jingled. Tanz was getting used the door making noise but something made him look up after his finished with the purple and orange crayon.
When he glanced up he saw Cassi, the scary lady that was making his dad turn funny colors. Only he was allowed to do that, it was Tanz’s right as his keeper. But wherever Cassi went so did-
“Cole!” Tanz grinned as he grabbed his milkshake and Monkey and ran over to the other boys booth. He was totally going to be much nicer today, and he would totally share his milkshake, he even grabbed an extra spoon on his way over. It was awesomely thick like that, and vanilla. Everyone liked vanilla.
He wedged his way into the booth putting Monkey next to him and set the glass down, good thing Tanz had a bunch earlier, or else it would have already sloshed over and gotten all over the table. That wouldn’t have been cool. No one likes messes, even if it is most likely fun to make them. Cleaning them up is not cool. Tanz is an expert on messes, and not so much of an expert of cleaning them up.
Otto has been in a blissful state all morning, and the wide eyed look of wonder Tanz gave the double double thick milkshake made it even better. For the first time in a while he was actually contemplating going a second night with the same person. This is something the red head hasn’t done for a long time, hopefully Cassi will feel the same way. If the way he has been aching all morning is anything to go by then she had a brilliant time last night as well.
Otto continued to hum as he cleaned tables near the back, there was this couple that always came in for breakfast and made a mess, throwing food at each other and being adorable, but they always left a nice tip and smiled at everyone, so it wasn’t too much of a problem.

Oh no, Cole thought as he heard Tanz’s voice from across the diner. Not him, not the castle wrecker, anyone but him. Cole’s face fell into a scowl as he approached the table. He watched with distain written across his face as Tanz and his stuffed animal slide into the booth with the milkshake.
“What are you doing here?” He asked a little snottily, making sure there was enough space between him and the other boy. He continued to have is arms crossed and he sunk in his seat, making his neck disappear into his jacket as the collar went up to his ears. Cole just glared darkly from is new position.
On her way to the counter, she took a quick glance around the café and that’s when Cassi spied Otto cleaning the tables in the back. She was glad that it seemed emptier back there, it would make it easier for her to do what she was about to do.
“Hey there, hot stuff,” she said sliding tantalizingly up onto a recently cleaned table. She crossed her legs under her skintight skirt, showing off her golden hued heels as she rested back on her arms.
“You can walk today?” She murmured, “I obviously didn’t do my job right!” She said peering up from under her eyelashes.
Cassi took a moment to pause and sigh at the ground before sitting up to lean on her knees and speaking. She wasn’t one to beat around the bush, so it was easier to just come right out with it. “But oh well, so look, here’s how it goes, last night, it was fun okay? And I mean fun. I didn’t know I could come that hard that many times in one night, but you seemed to have proved me wrong. So why don’t we leave it at that? No strings, no complications? It is what it is and what it is was a really good lay. Sound okay?” She hoped that this wasn’t going to be a deal breaker. Cassi had done this enough times that she was prepared for all the possibilities, but it didn’t stop her from wanting a simple agreement between the two of them.
