LIFE | ライフ LIFE sets the bar for high school dramas, not only in Japan, but across the world. Of course, we have Keiko Suenobu to thank for the brilliant story and characters, but the skill of the directors and actors on board the live-action series are really who made this drama worth watching.
Bullying, rape, exam stress, peer-pressure, suicide; the series covers just about every issue affecting troubled teenagers across Japan. I hope that many of you watched this and identified personally with at least one issue that affected you during your school years, or indeed still affects you today. It's impossible not to be touched by Shiiba Ayumu's tragic story.

You most seriously have to! My summary doesn't even cover HALF of how great it is. As long as you aren't put off by the predominently female main cast, you'll definitely enjoy it.

Heh, I'm currently at episode 4, watching rather slowly. Anyway when I saw the first episode I was wondering if there were going to be more male leads and was actually put off a bit when I figured it was practically all about girls. (I should've guessed from that picture you put up) However despite that I want to know what happens so I'll continue with it.

There's only one male lead, but he eventually plays a big part in the plot. I can't remember episode to episode whether you'll have seen him yet, but keep a lookout. Hopefully you'll get drawn in enough to ignore the girliness of it.

Well after every episode something happened or something was gonna happen and I wanted to know what >< I couldn't control myself, also I dl'ed it, I don't buy J-drama, I usually never watch it either, I've only seen 2 drama's.

Oooh, that explains a lot XP I always feel that part of the enjoyment is tracking down series from various Asian countries and waiting humbling for them to arrive in the post. Hehe.
But hey, at least I have somebody to discuss it with! I totally got the same feelings towards Manami. Each time she got one over on Ayumu I got angrier and angrier. It was painful to watch her triumphing no matter what poor Ayumu did in her defence. I thought Kii Kitano was perfectly cast also; you should look out for her if you're interested in watching more J-Dramas. I'd also reccomend you check out the manga version of LIFE. There were enough changes made for the live action to make it an interesting read. I'm only as far as the second volume but I've enjoyed it so far.
