Life...was very good. Oh sure, she was still trying to get Aang to eat meat (knowingly) again. But otherwise...things were going well. Kisa was growing up wonderfully despite not having a father...and Njalo was a very welcome addition to their group. Eupe was certain nothing could go wrong at this point. Of course...Eupe would have to return to her Clan at some point.

But she wasn't going to stay. No...Eupe belonged wandering. She belonged moving about, under the open sky. She belonged dancing beneath the stars and loving whoever SHE wanted to love. She got up from her perch on a large rock and stretched. Time for Kisa's hunting lesson. And off she went to track down where her daughter had gone off to play.

Kisa hadn't gone too far, having been stalking some bugs in the grass nearby. She liked hunting lessons, though she wasn't very good yet. And, in her own way ... she'd been trying to practice a little on her own.

She wished sometimes she could catch a mouse or something and really impress her mom, but even if she didn't it was ok. She knew for a fact that her mom would love her no matter what, so she wasn't too worried.

It seemed Bombei's life was finally coming together. Not that he hadn't been happy before, or had been lacking in a way he'd known, but with the recent addition of Zari to his life he'd realized just how much he'd been missing out on. The little cheetah was a delight, day after day keeping him company and making him smile. She ate up his stories like fresh meat, and seemed always happy, always ready to go.

Some days he wished he was part of a larger group--not a pride, exactly-- to help support her, but she seemed well off enough. He'd taken to letting her decide where they wandered for a few days, and had been surprised the night before to realize he recognized where they were as one of the placed he'd been only recently.

While Zari slept he began to search about, wondering distantly if that one little cub he'd met ages ago was still around. She'd wanted to be a storyteller he knew (or hoped, rather) and though Zari loved his tales, she hadn't shown an interest in telling them yet. He wasn't sure what he would do if he did find the cub again, but he felt compelled to look anyway.

Eupe smiled as she found Kisa, then sunk to the ground and sneaked forward. Once she was close enough, she reached out a paw and tapped her daughters flank. "Hello my little star. Ready to learn today?"

There was a new smell on the air, lion but unfamiliar, that had Eupe blinking. Strange. She wasn't in pridal territory. "The lesson may have to be delayed...Stay down sweetheart." With that, the pale cheetah stood enough to look over the grasses, seeking the source of the smell.

Kisa jumped with a little squeak when her mother patted her - having been concentrating on her bug-hunt. But then she whirled around and pressed against Eupe's forelegs, purring. "Oh yes! What are we hunting, mom?" she asked.

Then blinked as she, too, caught that scent on the wind and crouched down obediently. But... it was kind of familiar. Oh wait! Twisting head to look up at her mother, she half-whispered, "I think it's ok. I... met this lion before..."

Bombei stopped when he thought he heard something. The wind was blowing away from him, so he knew he was at a disadvantage...if he'd accidentally gotten his bearings crossed and wandered into a pride's land, especially an unfriendly pride's land, he'd have to run.

He wouldn't leave Zari alone again, especially so close to a dangerous place.

Still, usually things went alright...and he thought he knew where he was. "Hello?" He called out.

Eupe blinked at her daughter, then looked back up. Ah! She spot the lion the scent was coming from. A rather fluffy-looking blue fellow. Now...once upon a time, Eupe would have ignored him. But this Eupe was different. And she answered his call.

"Hello! What brings you here?" If Kisa really did know this lion...that was a relief. And something the made Eupe curious. Rarely did rogues who didn't travel together meet again.

It was him! Kisa bounced up and smiled, taking maybe a step or two toward the other. "Hi!" she called out. She didn't know how rare it was to meet someone again, young as she was.

And he had said before that he might come back. So, to her, it was just like the fulfilling of a promise.

Bombei couldn't help but smile when he saw that familiar face pop up out of the grass. She'd GROWN! He hadn't ever realized how long he'd been between visits to a place, and he was more than a little surprised.

"Just passing through, and thought I recognized the place." He explained to whom he assumed must be his little friend's mother. "I was right too. I don't mean you any trouble though!"

Eupe chuckled. "No worries. If my daughter trusts you...well, she's tends to be a good judge of character." She smiled and nuzzled the little cheeton. "I'm Eupe'baridi...her mother."

She made a slight bow. "It's always nice to meet a friend of Kisa's."

It was only then that Kisa thought maybe she should be polite and introduce the other - since she knew him and her mother didn't. "Mom, this is Bombei. He's a great storyteller," she said, the last in a bit of an undertone.

Turning to face the lion again, she smiled at him. "I'm glad you came back, even if it's not for long."

Bombei bowed in return. "I'm-" but Kisa beat him to it, and he laughed. "Bombei, right. Bomb's fine, also."

He walked over, looking back long enough to make sure that no one had gotten close to where he'd left Zari, and smiled. "It's nice to meet Kisa's mother. I'm afraid I didn't have the pleasure last time."

He looked over to regard Kisa. "You've grown since last time! Still telling stories?" He then whispered to Eupe, "I'm sorry if she's been talking about stories or trying to get you to tell some, that's my fault I'm afraid!"

Eupe just laughed and shook her head. "It's no trouble, Bombei! When she tells stories it's wonderful! And I don't mind telling stories myself. Though I'm afraid my repertoire is rather small. I'm more of a strategist than a storyteller." She almost missed the war games her father let her sit in on.

There was something exhilarating about figuring out what would turn the tide of a battle. "It's also nice to see her so passionate about something."

Kisa watched the two adults as they talked, then frowned slightly. She hadn't realized that her asking for stories all the time might be annoying. And she was on the point of apologizing for it when her mother said it was all right.

She smiled then, at that, and nodded. "I like stories," she said, almost shyly.

Bombei smiled at Kisa. "I'm glad you do! Have you gotten very good at telling them? You must keep your mother very entertained!" He wondered if she remembered the story he'd told her. It had been a long one, and a long time ago.

Hmm. "Is she really passionate?" If she was he knew he'd b delighted. He'd never bothered to find out if his visits caused any cubs to take up his trade. Seeing that he wasn't the only one who might like to tell tales really made him smile.
