It was that time of year, the month that all became cheery and strangely willing to part with money they did not have, oh how he despised it. No he would not contribute to those imbeciles that continued to give to people that that had nothing. They had nothing for a reason, they gave it all away!! As he continued to walk the desert he knocked on one of the large cacti stirring the little owl inside.

"You still owe me a polished stone for hollowing out this cactus. Either you give it to me by the end of the day today or I will tear this here cactus apart. Would you like that?" His smile touching his eyes. He stared at the little owl a wee bit more holding his cane in both paws to stand on two legs and not four. "Remember, today before the sun sets or your home will be torn apart." Giving one last look at the owl he left the cactus and headed south. He had many owl to talk to and very little time to talk to them.

"Heh. I might as well just tear their homes apart if they do not have their payments ready."

It was that time of year again, and how she loved it. There was no other time of year that she loved more. But that happens when one is a seasonal paint created in the season of giving and love and happiness...

She could still recall all the many years back, the very first christmas she'd ever had. It was the Christmas that had created her. This thought made her smile as she came to the cave opening about to start her day when she saw the scrooge coming down the path towards her home. Quickly she looked at the watch, and realized she was beginning to run late. He was her boss after all and she needed to get to work before he did. It was the rule, or so it seemed.

Grabbing a scarf and quickly wrapping it about her neck she dashed out of the cave and down towards her newest place of employment. And just as the bells rang the hour she made it in the door. Dusting herself off from the snow that was falling, she quickly looked out the window, and saw Scrooges Scowling face approaching. Heart a flutter she quickly went to her spot flicked the coffee pot on and began to settle down hoping he hadn't noticed her mad dash to the office. She really needed this job, and didn't want to risk loosing it. Grabbing a quill opening a jar of indian ink, only the best for Mr. Scrooge, she readied herself.*

Again she was late, that had been her second day in a row. What in the world was wrong with that bubble-headed female? Was Christmas time seriously affecting peoples brains and its ability to read time? Scowling at the door he continued on with his monotonous walk.

As he reached the door his coughed several times to clear his throat, not looking at anything in particular. Once he had done so he quickly opened the door with a rough pull, and stepped in. "Humm, it is mighty chilly in here, I wonder if the coal fire is burning. I also wonder how long it was burning because I did make sure to schedule someone to come in thirty minutes early to START the FIRE so that I would be COMFORTABLE. IDEA, OFFICE. NOW." With a face glittering in self worth he slowly drug himself to the office, keeping an eye on Idea just to unnerve her more so than he did.

"Hummph!"

*Oh God, he'd seen her mad dash, he saw her just get in on time. Yet he called her late, it's because she wasn't early, it had to be. She wasn't late, no she'd made it on time, just barely, how was she suppose to know he had planned for someone to be here 30 minutes early, it was only her second day. She didn't know his routine yet. Oh god what was she gonna do... Eyes widened as she saw her short term job flash before her eyes. So much for getting Zeph a present this year. She thought to herself. She really did try to be on time too*

Coming Mr. Scrooge.

*She said as she stood up and began to head towards the big door, it seemed every step made that door seem darker and darker, like she was getting ready to enter into a black hole of doom. Then she remembered a vital thing. She turned and dashed to the corner of her office and grabbed a few bits of coal. And headed towards his office.

As she got to the doorway she stood and waited.*

Y-yes Mr. Scrooge?

*She said trying to be as kind as possible, she believed if she could just be kind he might return the favor, yesterday didn't seem to bring that effect but she was a persistent little devil.*

I brought you some more Coals for the fire.

*Those blue eyes shifted towards the fire it was only embers now, she'd stayed so late last night, that she barely had 2 hours of sleep, all just to finish the paper work he'd given her, so she was actually feeling slightly fortunate because the fire was still lit, but it was just about out.*

Placing his cane down next to his work area he gave Idea a quick glace over and smiled. He would mess with her, but he wouldn't fire her, not yet at least. He needed cheap labor for the holiday season and she was very cheap labor indeed. Scowling at the female he looked over at the coal stove and made a motion to place the coals into the stove with his head.

"Well at least you were smart enough to get more coals for the fire Miss Idea." He sat down, stretching his wings and yawning before looking over at her with a glare. "Now Miss Idea, I must ask. Why is it that you wish to work here for me?" He gave her a once over then looked at a stack of papers to
the right of him. "Is this job only meaningful to you because of the holidays?" He raised a brow before carefully taking the stack of papers and and placing them next to him.

"Get me some coffee." He made a quick nod towards the coffee maker before looking down to his paper work, pouring a little ink onto a pad so he could stamp his paw print onto the papers.

"Well?" He raised a brow, still looking at the papers in front of him.

Oh no Sir, this is a very respectful job sir, why anyone would be proud to have this job. *She stammered out quickly in an earnest voice just as she finished loading the coals onto the fire and then giving a blow. Of course it was all a lie, not that she didn't think it was a respectful job, she did. However, she was the only one left at the agency that was willing to work with the grumpy old man; the rest wouldn't have a thing to do with him, most called him behind his back boorish and crude, but not her, she was more than willing, and she figured she could put up with the personality. She was of the mind that believed even the most dark of persons had a kind spot, they had to.

Just as she was about to sit down, as if timed, he told her to get some coffee. She paused for a moment, startled by the request, not because she wasn't accustomed to getting him coffee but because he had asked her to come in only to send her out again.*

Y-yes Sir. *She said, quickly gaining her composure as she stood and made her way out to the coffee pot in the front, like him she walked on two legs, though only in the office as he had made it perfectly clear the day he hired her that anyone working in this place was to keep their for paws clean and one couldn't be doing that walking on them. Mostly he just didn't want her to dirty up the place, or so she figured. It was a reasonable enough request, so she saw no reason not to try and accommodate.

Having quickly gotten his coffee and then coming back with a tray of sugars and creme she waited for him to acknowledge the coffee. She watched as he signed with a print of his hand the foreclosure on yet another home. She felt bad, as she saw it, she knew that family, and knew the children would be out on the street for Christmas. She mad a mental thought to invite them over to her home for the event. Twas the least she could do to someone so down and out on their luck.*

He looked up to acknowledge the coffee before him before looking down at the papers again. He would finish the rest later when the female was away from his presence. Picking up the coffee he to a quick sip and sighed. He was very annoying to have to keep finding new people to work for him. Glacing back over at Idea he shook his head.

"Well I most certainly hope this job is important to you. I would fire you had it not. It is strange though, they always loose their homes right around this time due to excessive spending. Really, what is the point in spending all that when you don't have it. " He glared at the stack of papers then over towards Idea.

"Idea do you have any ideas on how to sell my homes without having to continue this nonsense? It is most annoying to have to continually fill out this paper work then go to the homes, then rip the cactus apart then find new ones. " It was a trick question, a trap of sorts to see what she thought of him and his business. If she said the wrong thing out to do field work she would go.

He took another sip of coffee and closed his eyes. It was still so cold in the office. It drove him nuts! He paid for the coal for a reason! Keep the office and himself warm. "Bring me more coal for the fire, it is still far to cold in here."

*Seeing as he didn't want any sugar or creme, since none had been requested she set the tray down on a side table near his desk, should he decide to have some it'd be with in his reach but just out of the way of all that clutter, then she began to sit.

It was as she sat that the question was tossed at her and she was once more caught off gaurd. She wasn't a real estate agency, she was a secretary it's all she had been hired to do, and she did recall him telling her in a not to kindly fashion that he didn't want to hear any opinions from her, as such all she could think to do in response to his question was shake her head, and then answer.*

No, sir, I'm sorry, I haven't the slightest clue how to get the kind of business you are wanting. I am afraid I wasn't trained for that type of thing. *What did he expect? Two days into working for him and she was suppose to know it all?? No, the one thing she could say from her experience with scrooge was that he was a good business man, but a very cold person. She was certain that his business arrangements were up to date and the best to be had, but his personal skills needed much to be desired. Still she couldn't help but think that underneath that cold express was a kind heart, she'd just have to find out what it was that made him smile.*

He looked at her with a raised brow an almost smiled. So she wasn't as dim as he had first though. She might do a very good job working here, so long as she got to work on time. Brows furrowed at the thought. Maybe it would be best if she stayed at the office instead of going home. She would be there all the time.

"Idea, how about you sleep here if you have to stay late. It would keep you from being late, and it would most certainly would keep me happy because you would have things done when they are supposed to be done in the morning. As you can tell the early morning worker did not show up so i am in need of an early morning person. What do you say." He eyes pierced into hers as he watched her, waiting patiently for an answer to his question. Would she be a good girl and be his slave, or would she rather stay at home.

"it is not like you have family anyway. Plus, I can teach you have to become a very good salesmen." He took a sip of coffee as he watched her some more. His paper work could wait. it wasn't like he had to truly read the papers. They didn't have the money. End of the story.

*She gave a startled blink at the offer, taken back by what she thought must certainly be concern and warmth. She knew she was right when she'd told her friend that he wasn't as bad a person as her friend had told her.*

Oh why, that's very kind of you Mr. Scrooge, but I'm afraid I couldn't do that. You see, I have a family of sorts that I take care of, and they need me well, almost as much as I need them really.

*By family she meant her familiars, because it was very very true that she'd had no family, but she considered her Familiars to be part of her family, and they helped her almost as much as she helped them really.*

Besides Mr Scrooge, there is no bathing facility here, and just imagine the expense it would cost you to put one in.

*She had him there. Not to mention she'd only just started working here, it was kind of sudden to be thrown into such a task so soon in a business relationship. But he was right to have asked this of her, her resume was impeccable even by Mr. Scrooges standards, they had to be or he wouldn't have even given her the job. Though the lack of other choices did work in her favor.*

The old miserly man smirked she had trapped herself in the process of trying to get out. " Oh no Miss Idea I am talking about the housing next door. You could move all of your stuff into that place. Keep in mind though, I will be taking a small part of your check to pay for the sewage." He smiled again and slapped his paw on the table. "So. What do you say? I know for certain that your home is most definitely not up to date in anyway." He slowly rose from his chair, his body cracking in the process from sitting in the chair for too long.

"Doesn't the warmth of the coal fire feel wonderful?" He had walked over towards the fire, his paws rubbing together very closely to keep circulation flowing. He wanted her to work and he wanted her close so he would be able to use her when needed. Pretending to be kind was part of the job in manipulation.

He stopped for a moment to look over his shoulder. "Christmas is coming tomorrow, along with a large number of people either looking for houses or to beg to keep their house. Sad to say but I will have to throw them out. Very busy tomorrow will be, so be ready." His tail flicked as he watched her. Why did she come to this place when she was so soft at heart?
