Morning people!!
I've noticed people who struggle with grammar and all what nots and stuff. Well I'm not perfect but I know my ups and downs in this case... So I want to go through a few things which bother most people but not all. They are the typical mistakes that happen!!

Here are the things I will run through-

The capital letters of I and the semi colon.
You, the enemy of them all!
Spelling problems.
There, They're, Their and why they're here.
Evil Apostraphie

More will be added soon...

Nobody else must post in here. THOUGH: If you have a problem with a certain type of grammatical errors that are common amongst people, do tell me about them by pm and I will solve it here. biggrin Thank you people ^^

The capital letters of I and the Semi Colon.

One thing I noticed is that people sometimes make the following mistakes-

Forgetting to make I a capital letter AND making words like if and it become If and It.

Here is an example- i want to go Into the box but i can't.
Okay, I should remind you that 'I' alone should always be a capital letter unless referring to the small letter 'i' which should be only said when referring only to the small letter 'i'- example -
The alphabet has the letter 'i' in the alphabet. I should really put a dot on the top of it.
Words that begin with I should only be capital if it starts a sentence, but not when it's in the middle of a sentence because it's a full word and not anything like 'I'.
Example- He went into the box.
NOT- He went Into the box.

Another thing that happens is the misuse of the semi-colon... However it's only useful when you are making books. If you are typing it onto the computer and use word documents like MS Word then it's not a problem... but here is the use for a 'Semi-Colon'.

Sandra went into the kitchen to get some bread; her watch was slow and she only really liked brown bread so she hoped that they had the type she liked.

There you go- notice how that the sentence after the semi-colon begins with a small letter and that it's still related to the sentence but going on about something completely different. I learnt this through story writing and I hope it will benefit you all.

You, the Enemy of them All.

Okay dokay, This is a constant reoccuring problem that I've come across frequently.
Okay here it goes-

Your, You're, You are, You.
Okay Okay...

You, meaning you, meaning I am going to hurt you. You is like pointing at the person you are referring to.
That's no problem though... but let's go further.
You are... You are going over there... You are a person, You are anonymously showing off. You are about to leave... Those type of sentences... but it's leading to worse grammar when shortened... That is fine, I mean lots of people can unshorten it. The problem starts though... when they don't.
You're... it's the same as you are... it's not saying you're ball or you're dog or that any of those things belong to you... however it will seem to be saying you are ball or you are dog... it makes more sense in sentences like- You're joking-You are joking. You're a mess-You are a mess. You're going to love this show-You are going to love this show. Simple huh?
Now your is also annoying because this is another mistake people make... this is meant for what's belong of what not- Your dog, Your ball, your heart's content. Not- your a mess or your going to love this... It makes no sense and it's innaccurate yet it's so commonly DONE. You must realise that there will be leniant people who will let this slide but otherwise you are going to get a bollocking by people who are grammar freaks.
I know them... I've met them, I've learnt because of them and I want to spread my knowledge to you. smile

Spelling problems.

This will be quite a large one that will develop slowly. Anywhom-

Spelling errors that are common, that can make you very irratated when people who know a little more about certain words, correct you.

Well, this will be a place where the spelling errors are fixed. Here are words that are commonly misspelled.

Apostrophe- Okay, this is what I thought it was spelt like: Apostraphy, Apostrafy, Apostrafie, Apostraffy, Apostrophie, Apostraphie... Well it's Apostrohpe.
Yogurt/Yoghurt- I can't see how it may be misspelled but yogut yougit yougurt, you know... Think of Yog hurt or if you want to go all American- yog hurt without the h.
Cousin- Cozin, couzin, cousing and other misspelling, that I think may be common among you lot.
Tomorrow- Mistaken alot as tomorow or tommorow or tommorrow... Unfortunately not alot of common sense put into this word, even I make mistakes with it.
Spaghetti- If you think it's spagetti or speggetty or whatever, it's not. Another Italian word that is often misspelled alot.
lasagne- Okay this is a common misspelling of mine: lasagne, lasania, lasagnia... It's Italian so the mistake is common.

More will be added.

There, They're, Their and why they're here.

OH my GOD!!!
Why am I needing to say this one? Because it's so often done! This mistake is so badly over done that I must explain it in detail.

There is the first word to explain- You don't say- 'Oh it's theres!' Instead it's a directional word, fitting sentences like 'There we go' 'go overe there' 'there isn't enough water' so yeah! There!!
Next word!!
They're! It is the shortened form of they are! Okay? They are going to die being they're going to die. Easy! Just the problem of how it sounds so similar to the other two. So 'go over they're...' or instead of they're going to die it's 'their going to die/there going to die'. Why?!
Lastly!!!
Their! It's a word that is another something belonging to something else.
Their head, their brain, their moment of fame!
It's theirs, not going over their! Makes no sense huh, to go over their!
It's go over THERE. So instead you put it into their next motivation of their fun situation on their according to plan on their head.
See?
Easy enough!!

The evil apostrophe

That was a hard time spelling...
Hey, welcome to the land of the evilness and extremely awkward. It's so depressing how we need this ' all the friggin time! It's hard to spell and I used it 3 times already! Now to use it more!
What I hate is when the apostraphie is used for things like "Catherine's brain" and yet not used in "There are a lot of Catherines" It's just so confusing!
I love abusing it though. I use it almost to quote or to shorten words most of the time... But sometimes, it just gets so freaking annoyingly confusing.
Things like:
It is= it's
How is= how's
What is= what's
When is= when's
will not= won't
is not= ain't
are not= aren't
etc etc!
There are loads, but even shortened words don't always use the apostraphie! Its, for example, makes less sense if it was actually 'it's' since if you make it longer then it would just look like 'we hope that it is moment was just a faze' but no. I haven't got an example right now, but I faced it loads when story writing.

(more shall be added)
