Maha's tendency to wander off on her own was turning into a very bad habit. It wasn't on purpose, she didn't wish to worry her parents in any way. It...it just happened. If you asked her, she wouldn't be able to tell you how she got so near the border of the Simbafutaji lands. But that's where she was at the moment.
The curious and adventure-seeking cub was entertaining herself by chasing the small mouse-like rodents that were hidden in a bush. It was probably their home so she was careful not to step over it.
As she was playing she noticed someone in the stance. the lioness, as it seemed was coming her way. Since Maha was born barely a week or so ago hadn't yet met her whole pride yet and she had no way of knowing if that lioness was a part of it or not. However the cub just assumed she was, she was in their lands after all. Tilting her head to the side, Maha patiently waited for her to come closer.

Waridi'eusi was lost.
No, she wasn't. How could she be lost when she had no home to go to, and wandered about wherever her legs took her? It was strange to be so lonely, yet somewhat satisfying that she could rely on herself to stay alive. There was no need for her to go back, no need to depend on others for survival. It was fine.
It was fine being alone.
Or so she tried to convince herself.
As she walked on, purple eyes suddenly caught sight of a cub with dark fur and spots on her coat. A small wistful smile came to her lips and she momentarily wandered into her mind, where her sister was nursing her cubs tenderly, Baridi watching proudly by the side. "Hello." She murmured as she got closer, snapping out of her reverie and gave the cub a gentle smile. "Playing by yourself, little one?"

"Hello." Maha smiled too. This lioness seemed nice.
"I was playing with those mice." she motioned to the bush next to them "But they got away now." she said that without any hint of disappointment. "I don't usually play games like that, though." she assured. Maha wouldn't hurt a small defenseless creature like that "I just don't have anyone else to play with right now." Which was a rather unusual thing in a pride full of cubs. But it happened.
"I'm Maha." she remembered to introduce herself "Jethro and Kamaria are my parents." she presented herself as she would to any other pride member she hadn't met yet. "You know them right? Of course you would, my mom is one of the leaders." she said with a laugh. Maha didn't even consider for a moment that the dark lioness could be a rogue. She didn't even know that there were such lions without prides at all.

A fond smile played over her face as the cub talked about having no one to play with. When she herself was young, she sometimes stumbled into the same problems, though her sister was always there...their parents did not approve of them playing rough or getting dirty. But still, the memories as a cub were nostalgic. "Your siblings?" She questioned, looking around, her curiosity piqued.
"I'm Waridi'eusi." She greeted, slight confusion settling over her feature as Maha introduced her family. Oh dear... she was trespassing, wasn't she? "Ah...no, I do not know your parents." She shook her head with an apologetic smile.

"I couldn't find them." Maha said nonchalantly "They'll pop up eventually." she smiled. The lands were big, it was hard to find a small cub and Maha didn't want to waste her time wandering. She wanted to play and she knew someone would show up sometime soon.
Maha considered Waridi with an arched brow when she heard her answer. "But...aren't you from our pride?" she realized her question was silly, but she couldn't help it. Maha was sure she hadn't left the pride lands, she could see the tall rocks near the ocean that made the dens. She was far away, but nat that far.
"Well, these are the lands of the Simbafutaji." the little cub said. "But we're very close to the border."
So there seemed to be more prides than here own. She wondered how come she hadn't thought of that before, it seemed perfectly logical. "Are you from a neighboring pride?" the spotted cub asked, very interested in this new lioness who had come from a far away place.

"I see." She murmured. She had only one sibling herself when young, and the two had usually stuck together, when Usiku wasn't off on one of her self proclaimed adventures.
"No." Waridi smiled apologetically, shaking her head. There was a stir of longing for her to be back in a pride, to be accepted, to have friends, to have a family... It was rather lonely for her to roam about with no company. Still, finding new lands, realizing the world was so much bigger than her own pride, and there were other prides about like...this Simbafutaji Maha was from.
"I'm...I'm just a wanderer." The lioness replied. She was reluctant to admit that she once belonged in a pride, one that she had been banished from.

"A wanderer..." Maha whispered with wide eyes "Wow, that must be exiting!" She imagined what would it be to roam the world and see new lands every day, meet new people and make new friends. It seemed like the best thing in the world. Well, as long as she could return to her family once in a while.
She wondered what had happened to Waridi's family, but said nothing as it would be rude to ask something so personal. Instead she offered "You could stay with us for a while, if you like. Our pride members often go wandering for a long time but they can always have a home here." Her own father often went Seeking, sometimes for months. The Simbafutaji was the perfect place for one with the heart of a wanderer. "But you don't have to stay if you don't want to." Maha smiled.
"How did you find yourself here? Did you have fun adventures?" the cub asked. She wanted to hear at least some of the stories Waridi had brought with her.

"Quite." She agreed with a nod. It was indeed interesting to explore and discover that the world was huge, much bigger than just her pride lands, bigger than she could have ever dreamed.
"That sounds interesting." She mused, sitting on her hind legs, her tail swishing from side to side. "I'll...think about it." She returned Maha's smile with an appreciative nod. While she doubted that she would choose to stay; she wanted to see more of the world, but still, she would keep the Simbafutaji in mind.
"I just followed where the wind blew towards." Waridi'eusi answered. "I have never imagined the world to be so big before. And there are so many...other creatures to meet."

Maha turned her lilac eyes to the horizon, a wistful look in them. She too wanted to see the wide world. But she would have to wait until it was her time to go seeking. "I'm sure it is beautiful." she said, images of far off lands flashing in her mind.
"One day I will see. When my Rite of Passage comes." It would be so exciting! There was a twinkle in her eyes and she could feel her fur stand on end with just thinking about all the adventures she would have.
"Other creatures?" Maha snapped her head towards Waridi again. So far the cub had only heard about lions and leopards, as they had a few hybrids in the pride. And stories about those who inhabited the deep waters of the sea. "Like what?"

"I haven't seen much," Wairidi admitted. "But what I've seen so far is indeed beautiful."
"Your...rite of passage?" The lioness asked, curious about what the cub had mentioned. It was probably some sort of pride thing, she figured. Still, she wanted to know more. It sounded rather interesting.
"Hyenas, cheetahs, leopards...and many other creatures I've only watched from afar." She murmured thoughtfully. "Our world is inhabited by so many."

"That? Oh it's just a thing we have to do to be accepted as adults in the pride." Maha wasn't entirely sure what the Rite was about herself. "We have to travel outside the lands and bring back information. Knowledge is very important for us." She explained as best as she could.
Maha listened with wide eyes to Waridi. So far she had only seen lions and leopards. Other creatures had only been mentioned once or twice. "So many creatures...I can't wait to meet them all."

"Mmm." She nodded. "Knowledge is important. You never know what you're missing until you go out there." The lioness gazed into the horizon, letting herself get lost in her thoughts for a moment.
"I've never thought I would see so many, really." Waridi murmured thoughtfully. "Once, when I was young and naive, I thought only lions walked the land."

As her eyes ran over the wide spread plains that were beyond the borders of her home, a million thoughts ran across Maha's mind. Like all from her pride, she too was curious about the world. But many moons would pass before she could satisfy this curiosity. If it could be satisfied at all. A thin smile appeared on her lips at the thought.
Waridi's voice returned her to reality. "I can understand that." Maha giggled. "Until a few days ago, my family was all I knew. Just the six of us."

"Six." She repeated in a soft murmur. It was indeed a large brood. So many siblings to look out for, or to be taken care by, to play with... she never had that luck. It was nothing she felt sorry for, however.
"It was only me and my sister back then." Waridi smiled gently. "So a family of six seems a lot to me."

Maha chuckled. She, too had once thought that six family members was more than enough. "A friend of mine was born in a litter of six...or seven," she paused, not really sure, "Now that's a lot! Me having three siblings seems little compared to that. I don't know how her mother manages." She chuckled again. Siti was doing perfectly fine, though. Maha wondered if it would be the same without the help of her pride.
