'Zuba sat on top of the jungle-gym, narrowed eyes glaring at the ground. She hated them....those two called her 'siblings'. No, not Nataya. She adored her older sibling. It was her two new ones she couldn't stand. No, they hadn't slighted her or harmed her....they just took Mother from her. They took her attention, and that was something she would not forgive easily.
So she was here, getting away from the two toddlers, finding it better to sit in the snowy playground in nothing but thin leggings, her usual grey hoodie, and the boots Mother had forced upon her during this seasons than to stay at home with them. Of course, Mother had no idea she was out her, still thinking she was up in her room reading. She closed her eyes, drawing her knees close. It was rather cold, after all.

Ben had drove his two children to the park. His wife was sick, or she claimed to be. No matter, she had insisted on him taking them for unknown reasons. It was freezing out. Joshua and Vincent were bundled up in warm, marshmellow coats and sweat pants. They were also wearing beanies, gloves, scarves, and all those things a paranoid... I mean, loving mother would make you wear before going out in the snow.
Ben wasn't so lucky. The kids might have been warm, but he wasn't. He spotted a girl on the jungle gym. She must have been freezing! What kind of parent would let her out in such cold weather? His toddlers were already running up to the jungle gym.
"Hello!" Vinny said smiling. "You look cold!"

'Zuba looked down; she'd left the house to get away from two toddlers, and here was two more. These two weren't them, so it was okay. "'Lo...." she said, smiling slightly in return. She shrugged, trying to ignore the cold. "Maybe..." She jumped down, landing on her feet with a dull thud. "'Zuba. You?" she asked, holding her hand out to the younger boy. She noted the eares that looked a lot like her winged ear; she'd ask her questions in a bit. She looked over the toddlers, looking at the adult and waving once.

Vinny smiled at her, taking her hand. He didn't exactly know what to do with it, but he thought it was the most polite thing to do. "I'm Vincent. Mommy calls me Vinny though. This is Josh, he's my big brother. That's Daddy." He pointed to Ben, who was returning 'Zuba's wave. Calling Joshua his big brother was a bit odd. Vinny was the taller of the two, but it was true. Joshua was older.
Joshua smiled too. He hadn't met her, he'd only seen her with Stasia, because she'd been in trouble. "Where's Ginger and Zemel? Is Nattie with you?" He asked. Maybe they were hiding? He couldn't see them.
Ben made his way over to them. "Hello," He said kindly."What's your name?" Ben wasn't usually this friendly. He supposed it was in Joshua's best interest to set a good example.

'Zuba blinked as the younger boy took her hand, wondering what in the world he was doing with it. "Nice to meet. 'Zuba." she said politely, looking to each person as they waved and introducing herself afterwards. Josh looked familiar, but she couldn't place where she'd seen him till he spoke.
"Twins not here...." she said, her voice venemous and full of malice. Just as quickly as the hateful look had come, it was gone and she was smiling a small, half-smile. "Nataya at home. Only me here." Big sister Nataya, she had no problem talking about. Nataya hadn't stole anything.
'Zuba smiled gently at Ben. "'Lo. 'Zuba." she said, introducing her self politely. She drew her arms up into her hood, still acting as if the cold really didn't bother her.

Vinny looked around. "Why isn't your Mommy here?" He asked, curious. "Mommy never lets us out alone. Are you lonely? Did she forget you at the park?" He asked, letting go of her hand.
Joshua had another theory. "Did you run away?" He asked. He'd heard stories about naughty kids who ran away. "Your mommy's missing you, maybe." He gasped. "Maybe she's crying!" Making a Mommy cry had to be the worst crime ever.
Ben noticed the child was cold. "Here," He said, taking his jacket off and wrapping it around her.

"Mother at home. No, not lonely...no." she said, her short, choppy sentences answering the boy's questions. She then looked at Jash, shrugging her shoulder nonchalantly. "Maybe." she said softly, the sighed as she heard his last two suggestions. "Doubt it..." she said, looking down at the ground. "Has them."
She blinked, looking up as Ben put his coat over her shoulders. She shook her head, taking it off and holding it out to him. "Get cold..." she said, frowning. Why should he get cold? She didn't need the jacket, as far as she was concerned.

Ben shook his head, took it, and put it around her again. "It's alright," He said, "I'm not cold." He smiled reassuringly at the girl. She seemed so lonely.
Joshua frowned. "Talking about Zemel and Ginger?" He guessed. "Your mommy loves you too." He said.

'Zuba shook her head, pushing the coat back to him. "Fine." she said, offering a small, barely-there half-smile. Before he could put it back on her, she jumped down from the jungle gym, landing soundly on her feet, snow crunching beneath her.
She ignored what Josh said, deciding that he had to be on 'their' side. So, instead, she looked to Vincent. "Play?" she asked, changing the subject. "Lots to play...." She motioned to the vast expanse of the playground, putting on another little smile as she held her hand out to the younger boy.

Ben frowned, the girl was obviously cold. He wondered why her parents weren't with her. Until Joshua tugged on his pant leg, and he bent his ear to the boy. "'Zuba ran away. She's Ginger and Zemel's sister. She's worried her Mommy doesn't love her no more." He said. Ben was concerned, maybe he should drive 'Zuba home soon. Or at least call her mother and assure Stasia that she was alright. Ben pulled out his cell phone.
Vinny smiled at 'Zuba. "Want to go on the swings?" He asked. "I'll go higher than you!" His tail wagged in his excitement.

'Zuba nodded, her eyes noticing the tail. He had a tail? Why'd he get to have a tail like Charna when she didn't? It wasn't fair....but it was acceptable. "Swings." she agreed. "You higher." She shrugged; the boy was probably better at swinging then she was. She began walking towards the swings, unaware that a certain someone was calling, or attempting to call, her mother.

Ben quickly dialed the number, and let the phone ring. He knew he'd be frantic if Joshua or Vincent was missing. He could only imagine how his wife's friend was feeling.
Vinny got on the swing, and started pumping. "We tie." He said, frowning because the girl wasn't up to the challenge. "Joshua always beats me! But I'm bigger--" He paused, and frowned. Clearly, he thought, you should go higher on a swing if you're bigger.

"Hello?" A young girl answered the phone, probably Nataya since she was the only one besides Stasia and 'Zuba old enough to reach the phone.
'Zuba shrugged. "No. Win." she said, pointing to him. Since he had a tail and she didn't, he automatically won. "How? Have tail." she said, motioning to it as if he might not notice it was there. With a tail, how could he possibly lose? She began swinging, though it was obvious she wasn't trying much.

Vinny slowed down, he was slightly saddened by the fact that his friend wouldn't challenge him. He turned his head slightly to look at his tail. "So?" He asked. He'd always thought people who didn't have tails were better than he was. After all, Mommy didn't have a tail.
Ben smiled as he recognized Nataya's voice. "Nataya? Is your mother home?" He asked.
