THE CANYON FIELD!

The Canyon walls toward high towards the ceiling while the ground sinks downwards several levels, making the top and bottom of the field very difficult to see without special equipment. The cliff faces themselves are very steep with little ridge support for grabbing and climbing; on top of that, the rock faces themselves are very damp (moss is also present due to the continuous moisture) which makes grabbing and holding on very difficult. A few skinny trees and roots jut out from the cliff, announcing an option for land-based pokemon such as to grab and swing; however, these cannot bare that much weight and WILL break if such a thing happens. At the very bottom of the canyon’s long drop is a deep pool of water. Visually is difficult for trainers on this particular battlefield, so stadium officials have set up a special view screen on each of the trainer platforms. A mini camera will follow your pokemon around while it battles (of course, it’s programmed to back off when a pokemon does an attack) and the view screen will enable trainers to issue commands to their companions via microphone. This field gives a 25 HP attack boost to FLYING type attacks.

Renekai walked up to her podium, then looked at the field. Ah... Not such a good thing for her newest pokemon, Evelyn. This was her first battle! But it would work out in the end... "Come on out, Evelyn!" Renekai called, holding up the newly filled pokeball.

Evelyn shook herself when she had materialized from the beam of red light. She sniffed the air, looking dimly down the canyon. Where was this? Was there any food? She couldn't smell any. "Ted?" she asked uncertainly, looking back at her trainer.

Renekai shrugged, smiling. "I'll give you lots of berries after this; you just have to use the attacks I tell you." She hoped that Evelyn would understand.

Whether or not she understood the rest, Evelyn definitely heard the word 'berries'. That was all that mattered! She was getting berries! Evelyn's fluffy tail wagged, all problems forgotten.

Sienna whistled when she saw the Canyon Field. Frey was going to be one happy birdy.
"Let's go Frey!" The trainer said and tossed Frey's safari ball into the air.

The pidgeotto appeared in a flash a red light. Immediately he began circling in the air, enjoying the breezes and thermals the canyon had to offer. 'Ooo this is a nice field~' Frey thought and did a twist in the fresh air .

Sienna had a hard time seeing their opponent, until a screen popped up in front of her trainer box with a small blip. "Nifity!" She said and then scanned the screen, which was currently viewing Evelyn the teddiursa. "Awww, she's so cute. Sorry Frey has to fight you, you little cutie~" Sienna cooed at the teddiursa on the screen. It then switched to her pokemon, Frey.
"Alright, let's start off with a Feather Dance!"

The command echoed off the rocks of the canyon and reached Frey's ears.
"Pidge!" He said, and then beat his wings. Fluffy feathers flew out in all directions, most straight at Evelyn.

Oooh, a flying chicken! Would that give her berries? Evelyn tried to eat some feathers as they fell, but spat them back out. Yucky. Soft white things are not for eating!

"Try to concentrate, silly!" Renekai said. "Use Bulk Up!"

What was she supposed to do? Oh, yeah! It's for the berries! Evelyn puffed out her fur, raising her defense back to normal.

Sienna watched the screen again, since her view of the battle was still obscured by a tower rocks. "Aw, I guess that Feather Dance was sorta a waste of a move then." She said as she saw the bear pokemon use Bulk Up. "Sorry Frey. Try an Air Cutter this time!"

The pidgeotto rolled his eyes at his trainer's apology 'I hope she remembers that if we ever battle a teddiursa again.' Then he flew towards Evelyn. Swiping his wings at a high speed, he aimed the sharp gust of air they produced at the teddiursa.

"Saa!" Evelyn growled in pain. What had just happened there?

"Retaliate with Rollout!" Renekai commanded.

Evelyn curled up into a ball, then rolled. A fissure cracked the surface of the canyon, sending rocks up at Frey. Maybe that would stop the mean chicken from hurting her!

Frey was caught off guard when suddenly the rocks from Evelyn's Rollout barreled into him, knocking back in the air. 'Stupid fluff ball...' He muttered in his head.

"Air Cutter again!"

With a woosh Frey's wings cut through the air, sending another gust a sharp wind towards the teddiursa.

OHNO! MEAN CHICKEN COMING AGAIN! Evelyn ducked, narrowly avoiding the attack. She got up again, standing on all fours. Ha, ha! The mean chicken missed! Evelyn stuck her tongue out and wagged her tail.

"Rollout again!"

Beginning to get the hang of it, Evelyn curled up into a ball and send a new round of rocks flying towards Frey.

Frey quickly dodged the new round of rocks. He then caught a thermal and circled high above the rocks of the canyon. It was his turn to stick his tongue out.

'Looks like we aren't having any luck with Air Cutter let's go with...' "Aerial Ace!" Sienna announced.

Frey dove back down out of the air and flew towards Evelyn. He momentarily disappeared from the air, and then was visible again as he slashed at the teddiursa with his talons.

"Saaaaa!!" Evelyn shrieked. That really hurt!

"Don't worry, just use Thunderpunch! You'll get lots of berries and honey, too!" Renekai said, horrified that her adorable new pokemon had to take so much damage at once.

Sniffling, but looking forward to the treats, Evelyn made a fist. It crackled with electricity before she jumped into the air and aimed at the mean chicken.

"Oh no you don't!" Frey practically shrieked at the teddiursa. Stupid fur ball.
He swiftly zipped away into the air, away from the paw holding the cackling electricity.

Eek. Frey wasn't a happy birdy anymore. "Mirrormove!" Sienna said and continued to pity the teddiursa.

Frey mimicked the move and made a fist with one talon while diving towards the ball of fluff. The 'fist' soon cackled with electricity, as Evelyn's paw had, and he closed in on the teddiursa.
