The Short Track
A natu owned by the pokemon committee of Zatao that sponsers the race teleports your team to the Pilkiras Plains. There's no real dangers here, it's just a race to the finish! This track is 30 spaces long.

Start Time: Midnight EST
At least one member of Team One must post an intro first by 12:20 AM EST or else the team is disqualified.
A member(s) of Team Two must post an intro within 20 minutes of Team One's first post
CatCry will go first since it is two vs. one, so there is no need to roll dice on the intro. Look at example battles if you are confused about anything and feel free to PM FireFoxNinetails with any questions.
Remember all race posts must be made within 25 minutes of each other. The team that fails to do so will be disqualified unless the other team says they don't mind the lateness or something. BUT. All races must be finished by the time FFN goes to sleep (Generally around 1-2 AM EST?) so if you don't finish by that time, I'll disqualify whoever overreached their time limit first. (Since this race takes place so late, I'll TRY to stay awake longer)

The rental arcanine seemed to tower above him. Although Llyri had been on one during a practice race, it was still hard to believe that he was supposed to ride that thing. He supposed that he could have rented a sled instead, but he was so small that it would probably be more efficient to eliminate the extra weight. The arcanine peered at him haughtily, waiting for him to climb on. The race was about to begin!
After checking the fit of the gear one last time, Llyri grabbed a handful of the thick scruffy neck fur in one hand and the saddle in the other. He managed to haul himself awkwardly onto the pokemon's back and put his hands through the guide loops. One advantage of an official race was that he could borrow free tack. The saddle was little more than a thick leather pad strapped around the arcanine's chest in a T pattern with a pair of loops at the neck. There were no stirrups and the guide loops provided absolutely no way of controlling such a powerful creature, but at least he had something to grab if he was about to fall off.
The arcanine huffed at the extra weight and tossed its head, eager to be off and running.

Oyumi looked towards her opponent before she adjusted the straps that hooked her teams sled to their own rental Arcanine, who the girl's had affectionately nicknamed Croi. And once the girl was satisfied they were tight enough, she climbed into the sled and looked at her partner with a grin.
"Ready?"

Kurai steadied herself and climbed into the sled, taking a deep breath. Gaining her bearings quickly, she nodded to her teammate, calm smile on her face. Croi was a good boy. He wouldn't let anything happen to them.
"Ready when you are, Oyumi."

The arcanine sniffed deeply, looking over the familiar grassy plains of the racing ground. Llyrii could feel the muscles tensing and relaxing under him, gathering the body together. He gripped the loops and leaned forward into the great beast's neck, waiting... "BEEEEP!" The moment the bell sounded, Llyri felt the powerful haunches spring forwards with an explosive force. His stomach lurched a little at the sudden change in velocity, but he grit his teeth and held firm. HP: 1000/1000

Oyumi gave an exhilarated laugh when she felt the sled lurch forward as Croi began to run, and she grinned eagerly. It may have been a straight out race to the finish, but a little advantage was always nice to have.
"Alright Croi! Use Agility!"
The canine smirked as he burst forward, putting on even more speed.

Llyri was doing his best just to hang on and stay out of the way. The arcanine seemed to know what to do. For a moment, all was fine, but the other team was catching up fast! As the other arcanine pulled up beside them, Llyri's mount bared it's teeth at it with a loud growl. "ARRC!" it barked and sped up to match the other's pace with an Agility. HP: 1000/1000

Kurai couldn't help the grin that spread from her smile...there was something exhilarating about having the wind through your hair and the adrenaline pumping. Croi hadn't reached his limit yet...so Kurai cheered him on a bit. This was a race of speed, after all.
"You can go faster Croi! Agility again!"

Now fiercely competitive, the arcanine surged forwards with another Agility, leaving its rider to cling helplessly. The wind whipped past his face, making his eyes water when he dared to peek out from behind the arcanine's neck, not that Llyri could see where they were going anyway. His grip on the straps tightened as the pokemon threw in a playful little buck of its head. HP: 1000/1000
MV: 9/30 -> (+2 from previous boost. At least I think this is how it's counted.)

This time, it was time to get ahead of the pack, so to speak. That's why Oyumi held her tongue and let Croi continue at the pace he was going at. They needed to get out in front by a good distance before they tried using Agility again...

The arcanine surged forwards with agility again. It wanted to run! Now at top speed, its gait began to even out. Llyri could feel the body underneath him bounding forwards in great leaps, paws light on the grassy plains. His mount was panting now, even though they hadn't covered that great of a distance. The huge black tongue lolled out of its mouth between sharp fangs as the breath of exertion heaved in and out of its chest. However, its blue eyes shone with happiness and it let out a howl of joy. It loved to race! Llyri dared to pat its neck a bit. "Not too much now." he soothed. There was still more than half the track to go. HP: 1000/1000

With a slight lead, this time Oyumi felt confident in yelling for Croi to use Agility again. They were just short of being halfway down the track, and the last thing they needed was to lose because they weren't going at full speed. She felt a lurch as Croi ran even faster, speeding down the track almost effortlessly. He was born to race.

"Arrr!" It growled despite Llyri's patting. The other arcanine was still ahead of it! This was unacceptable! With another burst of speed, it started to veer at them as if to use an Extreme Speed, but Llyri yanked on the guide loops sharply. "No!" he protested. "That will slow us down!" There was no way they'd be able to take out the other team before the finish line. They were already halfway down the track! HP: 1000/1000
