And I'm not sure what to do. I need a deck, but my infamous "Dead Legend Walking" deck was dismantled. I don't know what I should do for the tournament coming up. What should I prepare for? How can I stop it? Blue-Green sounds good, because Muddle the Mixture solves Cranial Extraction; And Wear Away gets rid of Jitte and Glorious Anthem and Doubling Season...
But I'm still not sure! I need help, guys. I know I'm being annoying about this, but my brain's not working right.

Well, whatever you do make sure it's anti green/white....that's the strongest color combo right now for type 2.

Owen Roberts So I should be running Kagemaro and Hideous laughters? Mono black or G/B? although a mono color deck is easier to use it's also easier to defeat, go for the dual color deck.

I actually had to overnight a trade to a guy who is entering that because he needed the cards for the deck he was entering with...
Scary thought to be under the thumb and forefinger of the judges at those events again.
Then again... I am kinda unofficially banned from the pro tour.

I'm in the same boat as Owen. In fact, if I go to Provincials I'm in the same tournament as Owen. Right now I'm running with mono-black rats. I've got cards like Gnat Misers and Shadowatchers, cheap 1/1's for one-B, Gnat Misers easily managing a first turn "Ha! Lose a card!" Then there's some Kuro's taken, simply for there regenerating annoyances, and some other cheap rats. Most expensive rat is my Marrow-Gnawer who I usually don't have trouble throwing out. Other than that, it's 3-cast's and lower. Then there's the ton of "Bring it back to my hand from the graveyard" cards, kill spells, and things like Grave Pact and Night Dealings for additional damage and fetching.
Right now I've got Chainer's Edict (NOT STANDARD! I KNOW!), which will be coming out before the deck goes in. I'm getting/borrowing a few of the new Edict (Cruel Edict, I believe), a two mana sac. spell.
I need suggestions. This deck is in no way perfect, though it does have a very high not-letting me down rate. Anything to help make it better would be nice.
The biggest problem I'm going to have is running into another black deck, or black-COLOR deck that is heavily weighted on their black creatures. Black kill decks won't get too far, though. Any suggestions on how to take these down is a definite asset.
EDIT: I'm thinking of sideboarding some Rend Flesh's for taking out black creatures. Again, any ideas for sideboarding is also VERY welcome, indeed.

Mike, not that I'm too skilled at deckbuilding, but maybe you should have something in there for weenie/control. Jitte can get on a Boros Swiftblade a lot quicker than Marrow-Gnawer. And let's not forget Gifts. >.<

And let's not forget Gifts. >.< I'm aware of that. That's why I've got kill spells. I don't care how many strikes that Swiftblade has: if it dies before it can do damage, the Jitte does jack. However, a big weenie control spell does put me in a bad situation, seeing as how rats are really just black weenies (get your mind out of the gutter). I'd need something that can affect creatures that AREN'T mine, or that don't share a type with my creatures. Thus, something like Hideous laughter, which provides great weenie control, will take out my stuff with it... though sideboarding it may not be bad, considering my various ways to bring my creatures back from the dead a multitude of times. Something to keep in mind, thanks... Again, I'd like some other ideas. They are all welcome. EDIT: Just wondering. I haven't checked lately, but are there any relatively cheap (let's say 4 mana and under) INSTANT black discarders. Such a spell would come in handy against Gifts, and would make it definitely worth a Sideboard.

Although Distress helps in a jiffy, and to combat the asshats that Gifts for two win conditions and to recovery spells, there's the instant-speed "Remove four target cards from the game" card in Ravnica.
