The Life Issues Hangout Guild is proud to announce

The Life Issues Hangout Guild Council

This thread outlines general information about the Guild Council, including current Councilmembers, schedule, and information about Council responsibilities and elections.

Current Councilmembers
Seat 1: badloki
Seat 2: Captain_Sipid_Peabody
Seat 3: Chalda
Seat 4: Reivena
Seat 5: AraTeran
Seat 6: ButterBalls (Perminant)
Seat 7: Soleq (Perminant)

Current News
10/19/05: The first election is over, with a whopping 4% of the guild population voting. Me thinks the voting rules should be altered some, but hey, this was our first get-go. Congrats to the winners, badloki and Sipid. Also, I'd like to thank each qualified candidate who decided to run. The three appointees have been added to the councilmember list. Subforums are the top priority right now, so let's get a roll on this.

Schedule

Council Responsibilities
The Guild Council was established to allow guild members a voice in the administration of this guild. Their primary responsibility is to provide a sound voice in making decisions concerning the guild. This includes, but is not limited to, any decisions on expansion, policies, and bannings. The responsibilities of individual Councilmembers may vary, and may be assigned accordingly.

Elections To be revised.
Each Councilmember is elected by the guild members. Each seat's term is 6 months, after which the seat is up for election. Elections are staggered so that only two or three seats are up for election at one time. The current election schedule is as follows: October (Seats 1 and 2), January (Seats 3, 4, and 5), April (Seats 1 and 2), July (Seats 3, 4, and 5). Any qualified guild member can run for election, and there is no limit to the number of times a member can run or hold a seat.

To apply as a candidate for election, guild members must meet a specific list of requirements to be deemed "qualified." This includes:
* Having been an upstanding guild member
* Having more than 10 posts (one of which is a formal introduction in the Introduction thread)
* Is not a mule account of a current Councilmember

If all of the above requirements are met, submit an application post in the appropriate thread that will be created close to election dates. Members can only run for one seat in any election, and can hold only one seat at any given time.

Elections will be decided by a simple majority of above 35% (meaning the candidate has more votes than any other candidate in the election, and his/her voted total for more than 40% of the total votes). If the percentage is less than 35%, a run-off election will be held between the two highest candidates. The run-off election will take place no more than three days after the initial election.

If any Councilmember or candidate is found to be violating proper election ethics, they will be deemed ineligable for the election and may be submitted to the Guild Council for disciplinary procedures.

Councilmembers, let me know when you're most likely to be online during any given week. We need to schedule councilmeetings.
