We all know D's left hand is possessed by some sort of parasite that talks back to him, makes fun of him and helps him. So I'm sure we all have the same question about it. How did it become a part of him? What are your guys theories on how his left hand become to be?

I won't share the theories of what the hand is used for with all of you. That's a joke I keep between me and a few people. D:
I think the parasite may have snuck up on him oneday and simply took over his hand. D couldn't get rid of it without permanently losing his hand forever, so decided to live with it. He's a big help anyway.
I forget. Does the parasite have a name?

I believe he doesn't, But I call him lefty.

.. It was already told, before how it infected him.
I read up somewhere, that had a bunch of Vampire Hunter D archives.
Essentially, in the first novel, it was meant to be placed in there.
"Left Hand" - as it is called, is a symbiote that's part of the same species as one of the Barbaroi. Left Hand belongs to a species of (normally) malevolent parasites that inhabit different parts of the human body, but due to D being a dhampir - it gave the symbiote life and a voice.
It is also stated that in the first novel, when D was staked and killed - his severed left hand gained its first breath as it devoured the soil, and sucked in the air to recharge itself. The infection was truly permanent then. When it saved his life, he unlocked its various abilities.

Ds left hand was already infected before he was staked since he used it to put Doris to sleep before he went... to go out somewhere.. i forget. But it was already infected before the first novel. so that doesnt totally explain how the two met.

The scene he used it to put Doris to sleep was because Larmica was on her way over there and he didn't want Doris to get in the way.

Once upon a time when D was a little boy he came across a hobo who was eating chili. the hobo saw D and had a heart attack. the hobo died and dropped his chili on the ground. D smelled the chili and he looked on the ground and thought it was blood so he ate it, but little did he know, the chili landed in some dog crap and in it was a symbiote thigie and so it was now in the little D's tummy. it was going to leave when D had to go and take a crap but it decided to stay so it made itself a nice little home in D's left hand and D never knew about it until he reached puberty. the end
that is my theory. just to let you know i wasn't serious about this, it just came to me.

there is many different ways that it could of happened! I just only started reading the Menga But I still know what happened since I saw one of the old movies... Uhhh in the... 1980s? I belive... my dateing is bad, bit the style was old! but still good XD
