AIM LOG: Tahja Estes & _ p a o cx Morning, beautiful morning. Or...maybe not? The night hadn't gone so well for the now fully-grown femme. A night all on her own with no shelter or fellow cheetah nearby was cause for her restlessness and constant waking to the point where she decided to forget about sleeping altogether and stay up for more than half the night. The sun was already high in the sky, and with the lack of sleep Adannaya was a bit less perky. Her tail drooped, as did her eyes, and she was practically dragging her paws along the ground just to keep moving. Just to stay awake. She was tired, no doubt, but she had to keep going. To where, she wasn't sure. At this point she didn't really care either. As long as she was awake, she was safe. .....Right?There were those that had been traveling for some time since sun up, but Amali was unaware of the distance he'd traveled so much as figuring out where he was actually headed-- a destination yet to be determined for lack of knowledge of the lay of the current and future lands ahead. He wasn't even sure if he wanted to find a place to make home yet, memories still fresh of the place he'd left, but not too freshly painful, simply there. To settle down made him feel strange, so he simply followed the path of his wander lusting paws for now.
He was only mildly surprised to see a cheetah female crossing his path, not quite literally, but close enough for him to call over.
"Miss, are you alright?"Naya's ears twitched at the sound of another voice. Her body tensed, and her droopy eyes went wide as she stopped in her tracks and looked around. The femme spotted a lion not too far from her, and by the looks of it he didn't seem to hostile. So with another yawn she shrugged off the tension and let her eyes droop again. Her appearance wasn't something she was worried about at this point. "I'm fine," she called back, hoping it was loud enough for him to hear. "Just..." another yawn. "..a little tired," and then another. She blinked a few times while waiting for an answer. The exhaustion was getting to her, and her body felt so heavy now that she was standing still."Perhaps it would be better if you rested for a bit, miss, with all due respect you look dead on your paws. Have you eaten yet?"
It was concern that pulled him closer to the small(er) female without meaning to. It was simply his naturee to worry for them, especially after losing his own mate and their cub just months ago. He'd been on the roam since then. She was much too tired to be worried about him getting closer, and as she stifled another yawn the femme shook her head. She smiled a small, grateful sort of smile as she did. "No..I need to keep moving," she said, opening her eyes with a bit of effort to see this lion more clearly. "If I don't I'll fall asleep...and if I fall asleep I'll be vulnerable, no?" And she yawned again. "I appreciate the concern though...what's your name?"

Well he could see her logic, but she'd fall asleep sooner or later, was the problem. He supposed he couldn't ask her to trust him so readily but it could be worth a try.
"My name is Amali-rajua, you can simply call me Amali or Rajua, or any variation of it that you come up with, just not Raj..." The last part was murmured with an air of solemness, but still casual. It was the pet name his mate used to use and it was too soon yet. Chocolate colored eyes regarded the pale one respctfully curious now. "And you are?"
"Adannaya," and stifling another yawn she continued. "Naya for short. It's nice to meet you.." her voice had significantly softened now, though it was still audible. Her eyes drooped a bit more, her tail stopped moving, and she...well, yawned yet again. "Sorry...I don't mean to be rude by yawning so much," Naya said apologetically. "I just really need to sleep. If I find a small shelter of sorts before nightfall I will, but right now I can't stop moving. If I do my chances of finding such a place are that much slimmer." And she smiled. "But again, thank you for the concern."
"It's no trouble, Miss Naya," Amali reassured with a shake of his head and a polite and kind, albeit small, smile. "At least allow me to see you to someplace whre you'll be able to rest. I believe I passed by an abandoned den at the base of a tree's roots just a bit back the way I came. I'll even keep watch for you if you wish. I'd rather not leave you out heree so tired, my concience would never let me live it down."
His offer made her smile widen just a bit, and the dullness in her eyes faded slightly at the prospect of finally getting some sleep. "Really?" she asked, equally as surprised as she was grateful for the offer. "Thanks so much! I'll have to return the favor somehow after I wake up," She was feeling a bit more energized now that she was sure she'd get some rest in the very near future. "In the meantime why don't you lead the way? I'll keep talking so I don't fall asleep on the way, and by the time we get there we shouldn't be total strangers anymore."
"There's no need for you to worry yourself over that, miss, I'm just glad that I can help." And he was, Amali wasn't looking for any returned favors, simply to help the ones he came across that were in need. He had to chuckle at her reasoning but it was a good plan, he thought. He smiled and gestured her to follow with a flourishing sweep of his paw, then himself took to leading the way back towards where he'd been coming from, at a pace that started slow and would ease into a comfortable level for the weary female.

Naya took to walking beside the larger male, forcing herself to think of things besides the comforting embrace of a good night's sleep. She'd forgotten about her weariness for the time being, the subject of the conversation going from one thing to the next, from hunting to stories of her family to her failed attempt at climbing a tree when she was a bit younger. Of course she stopped talking now and again so Amali could speak, but for the most part she had taken the reigns as far as the conversation went. "...and my mother scolded me to sleep," her last story ended, and despite the rather upsetting memory the smile on her maw had yet to fade away.
Amali was content to let her speak as much as she felt she needed to to stay awake and aware, just smiling to himself as she went on. Every now and then he'd pipe in with something, but she needed to speak to stay up, so he tried to avoid interrupting. Upon reaching the shelter he'd spoken of, a den dug out at the base of a bonzai tree (too small for anything but a cheetah or younger leopard or lion, or a grown wild dog, to comfortably fit inside), he circled around behind it and paused at the side of the entrance.
"Here it is, miss, as promised. I'll keep watch until you feel properly rested." He smiled kindly, tail swaying behind himself calmly.
When he announced that they had arrived, all the weariness that she had pushed to the back of her mind had resurfaced, and it was even more apparent on her face. Despite that, she smiled up at the kind lion, infinitely grateful for his help and determined to find a way to pay him back for all his help. "Thank you Amali," she said, yawning for the first time since they started their walk. "You don't have to stay, if you don't want to. Taking me here was kindness enough, and I'm sure you have better things to do than watch me while I sleep." The femme made her way down into the little den, delighted that she fit snugly in the little space. As she started to get comfortable she looked back up at Amali, the smile still lingering. "I promise I'll find a way to pay you back, should we cross paths again." And almost as soon as she lay down her head and closed her eyes, she was fast asleep.
