Kasi was starting to get just a little bit concerned. All this time, and not so much as a sniff of another Brotherhood member. Could it be...that they'd finally been dispersed for good? Never! The dark cheetah shoved the thought away in a far corner of her mind like the blasphemy it was. The Mother and Father were forever...and they would never forsake Their family. The Brotherhood had always survived going to ground before, and it would again--if she had to repopulate it herself, and pray that her arrogance in reaching so high was forgiven.

Tail still twitching slightly from such troubling thoughts, Kasi was uncharacteristically oblivious to anyone who might be nearby.

The leopardess Dole had met had offered an intriguing proposition: he could very well travel north with her and find more of their kind. Perhaps find mates of their own and begin families. Wouldn't that be interesting? Remain friends through time and share stories. He smiled at the thought. He and Nyx had clicked quite well with each other during their first meeting.

As he pondered his decision, the leopard easily and gracefully loped around the area. Suddenly he spotted a black cat. She was lean and skinny, one that he had not seen before. He deducted that she must be a...cheetah, perhaps? If not an adult, a younger leopard at best. He hesitated in introducing himself, waiting to see if she would remain still or spot his bright color first.

The whisper of leaves beneath a heavy paw finally broke through Kasi's thoughts, causing her to stop abruptly. Luckily for her, the footstep seemed to have belonged to a very brightly colored and friendly-appearing leopard. Tsk tsk, she chided herself, realizing as she relaxed that she'd involuntarily tensed at the sound of him. That could have been something far more dangerous. A vacation is no reason to get sloppy. "Good evening, stranger," she greeted him, pulling on a mask of a smile to hide her previous troubled thoughts. "I hope I'm not trespassing?"

Seems like he had been spotted; best to say hello back. Dole put on a graceful smile and loped a few paces closer before stopping again.

"Evening, " he returned. "Actually I was hoping the very same. Never know who's place is who's these days." His smile was small, but friendly and warm. He was not one to be wary to strangers--although he might as well should. It was a dangerous world out there sometimes. But he believed to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, and with each person they met, they were trying to be good. If they had been bad in the past.

Therefore, he smiled.

Kasi watched the stranger as he loped closer. Good form, good muscle tone...not that of a fighter, but perhaps suitable for the seed of a plan that had taken root in her mind. She nodded at his words. "I found no border markings yet, so it's relatively safe to say we're fine." Deeming the stranger little threat, she sat and smiled again, this time in a more genuine fashion. "The name's Kasi, how about you?"

"Dole. Pleasure to meet you," he returned with a polite nod. He went forward another few steps before he, too, sat down gracefully. His bright tail curled around his paws and his shoulders were pushed back. His neck was erectly held, with grace and poise, and his eyes slanted back in a half-lazy manner, watching this new creature. The wing markings on her back were odd, and so was the mask on her face--for their bright orange color, no doubt--but they were appealing anyway. He decided that, for now, small talk was appropriate.

"Oh, that is a relief. I was half-worried that someone would find me and shoo me off their lands," Dole joked in a soft voice. "What brings you to this area?"

"Family," came the smooth, practiced answer. It had been rehearsed in her mind so often as to have the ring of truth--after all, those she sought were her family, if not by blood. "We were separated some time ago, and the time has come to gather once more." She looked down, genuine sorrow in her expression. "But I haven't been having much luck...I fear the worst, sometimes."

"Oh, I'm sorry about that. I hope you find them soon, then. Anything I can do to help, perhaps?" His friendly smile became a concerned one. He supposed she was lucky to have any family at all, versus his own lack of such. It had been too long since he had seen or spoke to his own parents. The thought of traveling to see them, however, was not an appealing one.

It was too far away and he doubted that his parents would appreciate his journey in the first place.

Kasi's smiled, but there was something like veiled pity in her eyes. This stranger was no killer...he would not understand. "They tend to hide their tracks. Many of us are hunted, and thus wary." A small lie, but close enough to the truth. It was for his own good that he didn't know the true nature of things, after all. He was kind enough, and deserved his sleep.

But enough of this. Too much digging could lead places she wished to keep him clear of... "What of you? A wandering dancer, perhaps?" She kept her smile light, hoping he would take it as a joke.

Hunted? Dole supposed that a compromise between the two sides wouldn't be an ideal plan, nor would it work if life and death were held in the balance. Though he tried to give an understanding nod, the leopard would never truly know what went on with this cheetah. And a part of him was thankful for that.

"No, not a dancer," he chuckled, relieved for a change of topic. "Just a wanderer. My grace is my mother's; I was one of the best back home. We could jump into trees gracefully, prowl gracefully, hunt gracefully. It's not hard to do, either."

Kasi laughed slightly as she stepped slightly closer to Dole. "My mistake, although I daresay it's an easy one to make. It is hard to believe that inborn grace such as yours comes naturally, but I'm not one to doubt a gentleman." Okay, so she was laying it on a little thick. But it wasn't like she would see him after this day anyways, so what was the harm? She'd be gone long before he woke...

Well well well, what a polite cat she was. And charming, too. Dole puffed out his chest pridefully and also moved slightly closer to Kasi. "You could have fooled me yourself," he purred softly. "You look as if you have such an inborn grace as well." This was an interesting conversation, but not one he was about to end. She seemed so sweet and honest with him. It couldn't hurt to stay just a while longer.

Kasi ducked her head 'shyly,' although it was moreso to hide a sly grin. This was all too easy, and it was planting the seeds of an idea in her mind. "Much practice would be the cause of any of mine, I'm sure," she murmured. "If you wish, I could stay a while and show you some of my...techniques." Not actual training techniques, of course--but who could resist corny flirting?
PostPosted: Tue Dec 23, 2008 8:03 pm

"I think we could both learn from something like that. I'm up for it," Dole cooed back. He stepped a little closer. Flirting, indeed, wasn't something to be denied. Not when two creatures fit so perfectly together. "I could, you know, help you practice as well." His voice ended in a purr, his eyes were narrowed in a way he thought was seductive.

"As am I," Kasi purred, leaning against him after looking about to ensure that none were watching. She knew nobody was, of course, but such coquettish displays never hurt. This night looked as though it could prove to be very interesting indeed...

((Aaand this looks like a good fade to black. xD))
