Omoa was not one to usually wander off without her family, but today was an exception. She was teaching her younger sister the art of exploring! Maha had not really had the chance to spend some time with Omoa in a while, so today, the green cub decided that things would play out differently.
"Come on, Maha!" she called into the den. Omoa had already went ahead and scouted out the area they would be exploring, so things would go perfectly. "Today is the day for some fun!"

Maha's ears perked at the sound of Omoa's voice and she quickly got to her paws. It had been a while since she last spend time with her. She liked spending time with her and not being able to made her sad.
The spotted cub emerged from the den, grinning from ear to ear. "You know I'm always up for some fun!" she said before she softly nuzzling her older sister as a greeting. "What are we going to do?" Maha asked excitedly. Were they going to the beach or somewhere in the jungle? She patiently waited for her answer, even tough she was bustling with energy on the inside.

"You know what? We haven't been to the beach lately, huh?" The thought had popped into her mind, along with the fond memory of her friend from the ocean pride. He had shown Omoa how to make things in the sand using water and just the gritty stuff. This would be a good activity for her and her little sister.
"C'mon, we're gonna make shapes in the sand!" The young green lioness nuzzled Maha and tugged her ear playfully, taking the lead as she began to walk towards the ocean and where they would play for the day.

The beach! Maha loved the beach. She had collected a few seashells from there while she was searching for the perfect seashell for her necklace. She loved the sea and she even loved the sand, even if it was difficult to get it out of your fur.
"Shapes in the sand? It sounds very fun!" she asked trough giggles as Omoa nuzzled her. Maha playfully swatted at her older sister as she pulled her ear and tried to bite her tailtip. The spotted cub bounded a few paces ahead of Omoa, anxious to get to the beach. She was very exited about learning how to make sand shapes.

The beach was one of Omoa's favorite places. Not only because their father absolutely detested water (because it was fun to tease him about it) but also because it was such a beautiful sight. The water could be calm and flowing, a beautiful clear blue. The water could also be rough and dangerous, the murky depths coming up to show at the surface.
It was amazing. And it made Omoa think deeply whenever she went.
But she wouldn't do so today, with her little sister. Today was one of fun and bonding! "Yes, shapes in the sand! I'll teach you how; it's really easy. But first, we have to each get a leaf." She giggled and wiggled away at the swatting and picked up a leaf from the ground. It was a good size, sturdy, and shaped a little like a dip. She nodded to Maha to do the same.

One of Maha's favourite things about the sea was the swimming. However she was too young for that and she could only play in the shallow waters. But what Omoa was about to show her was more interesting.
"Leaf?" she repeated and nodded. Maha looked around for a leaf like hers and picked a similar one up for herself. "Ready!" she mumbled trough clenched teeth.

Omoa nodded, grinning proudly at her sister, and bounded off towards the sand, looking back every so often to make sure Maha was following her and didn't get too far behind.
She picked a decent spot; this sand was nice and soft, and easy to mold when wet. It was in the middle of the distance between the water's edge and the rougher sand near that led to their den. Rocks were scattered on the white gritty material. She set her leaf down in the spot.
"Now, here's what we do with the leaf. We go to the water's edge and put it under the water. That way, the water goes into the leaf and stays there. 'Cause the edges are curled up, like this, you see?" She pointed out the leaf's characteristics. "Once the leaf is filled with water, we drag it back up to about here and start molding. So let's do that." And she picked up her leaf again and began walking towards the water's edge, the tide that kept coming up to sweep and bat at the sandy shore.

Maha followed after her sister with a bounce to her step. When Omoa set her leaf down, she did the same and listened with perked ears. She would have never thought you could take water from one place to another with a leaf.
"Alright, sis." Maha chirped and picked up her leaf and hurried towards the water. Once there she hesitated and put the leaf near the water. She turned to her sister, watching what Omoa was going to do.

Omoa grinned; she loved spending time with Maha. Her sister was such a quick learner and easy to please her elder sister. And she was absolutely a thrill to play and hang out with. Positive attitude, never not smiling. She reminded Omoa of a mini-self. She giggled.
"Good!" she told her sister around the leaf in her mouth. When both were filled with water, she grabbed the stem of her leaf and gently dragged it uphill and back onto the dry sand. Once she found a good spot, she stopped and began to play with the sand. "Now," she called to Maha, "we begin our masterful creations!" And she began by using a bit of the water from her paw to moisten the sand. It began to take shape, and Omoa's tongue slid out to rest at the corner of her mouth as she bent down in concentration.

Maha followed Omoa with her eyes as she dragged her leaf away. After a moment of thought she bit the end of her leaf and dragged it away carefully. Maybe a bit too carefully and slowly. Well, in the end she did reach the dry sand.
She looked at what Omoa was making curiously and then stared at a pile of sand before her. "What should I make?" Maha asked out loud. "I know! A fish!" She giggled with excitement and started forming a somewhat fish like form in the sand.

Omoa grinned and giggled, her paws completely covered with wet and gritty sand. It was amazing and fun. She didn't mind how her sister set her own pace; as long as she was having fun too.
"A fish is a good idea! I made a mini-den the first time I played in the sand. I'll think I'll make a...starfish!" And her paws began to form the five pointy ends on a circle.

"Starfish are pretty!" Maha grinned. She was covered in sand by now. She even had managed to get some on her nose as well.
She was done with the body, an ellipse-like pile of sand and was making the tail. A triangle shape formed under her paws. It wasn't perfect but she liked it. Then Maha made another triangle for the fin on the back of her sandfish, as she mentally dubbed it.
The cub suddenly stopped molding when a thought came to her. "What about the scales? How do you make those?"

Omoa giggled and lifted a paw to wipe away the sand on her little sister's nose, but then it ended up just spreading it more on top of her muzzle, so she stopped.
"Sorry!" she said, and rubbed her paw on her own nose so they would match. She laughed again. Then she was thoughtful. "Hmm, how to make scales...well, I guess you could take a small twig and hold it in your mouth and trace the scale shapes onto the fish? Or you could use your claw. Yeah, spring out one of your claws and gently scrape the sand away in a shape. Like this."
And Omoa flexed her paw muscles until all her pointy claws were out. Then she moved her paw over her own little starfish and started tracing away in little squiggles and designs.

Maha sneezed when Omoa tried to clean her face. "It's okay." She said and then laughed when her sister's nose was covered in sand as well. "We're like twins now!" She giggled.
"It seems so simple now that you said it." Maha said, thinking it really was close to mind. She lifted up her own paw to level with her eyes and sprang her claws out. She looked at her sand shape thoughtfully, wondering what designs to make. In the end she started randomly tracing with her claw and humming to herself. Her claw followed the rhythm of her song.

"Twins!" Omoa grinned and laughed too at their little joke. She watched as her little sister sprung her own claws out and started ticking away at her sand sculpture. The older lioness did the same thing, continuing on her own starfish to make the small little dents she usually saw in the creatures.
"So what do you wanna do after this? Make more sand creatures?"
