Aden, who is 9 months old, has found a new favourite thing: banging his head on the wall or whatever he's leaning against. It's even sometimes his dad's head. And he'll bang it pretty hard too, not just a little tap. He hardly ever cries when he does it, just if he accidentally bumps it a little too hard, which isn't often. He just sits there and keeps doing it.

Does anyone else have a child that does this? I'm worried that he's killing brain cells or something! How can I stop it?

Ahahahaha. Zoie does this, she gets in her Jenny Jump Up and runs her head into the wall and door frame. My mom said its fine and that I did it too. The whole thing about Dad's I'd watch out and give it a same, like "play head butt!" otherwise they will head butt everyone. Hard.

It's a common thing for kids to go through. My kids went through it about a year and more out of frustration. Honestly, the worst part is for us parents rather than the kids!

The big thing is to understand it's just a phase, don't give attention to it. I know it's SO hard to not wince or run up to them, but my kids thrived on the OWIE attention, so I had to ignore it. Kids' heads are pretty tough and it's generally the front part of their head which is made for preventing trauma.

Okay, as long as it's not going to make him stupid or anything....

As for him head-butting his dad, I'm not too worried about him doing it to everyone. He won't head-butt me, unless Richard tells him too, and he'll only to it to Richard or the cat on his own.

Thanks for the advice!
