VoiceOfDoom1739 (9:49:44 PM): Perched upon a cool stone beneath the firey dying light of the sunset, a breeze ruffling his mane, Barafukavu found himself feeling about the closest thing he ever felt to anger. Passionate emotions were not Kavu's forte; passion was for the weak, it distracted and diluted and made one a fool. Kavu had no need of such things. But, as it was, he couldn't help but be a little miffed. There was no one around. There was nothing to do. He was bored, and boredom was the most intolerable of things.

Surely, he'd thought, in a secluded little clearing in a valley, so isolated, he might find some curiosity, some small thing of interest. And yet, having arrived, he found it just as deserted as he really ought to have suspected. Of course there was nothing to see down here; no one ever came to a place so isolated and hard to get to. Not, of course, unless they really needed to. Or, in the case of Kavu, were curious enough to go far, far out of their way to find out about it.

And yet he'd found nothing. What a waste of time and energy. He'd rest here, at least, and wait for the cover of darkness before moving. A bright white hyena had quite a chore ahead of him, trying to hunt, but Kavu rather appreciated the challenge and was looking forward to darkness when his favorite prey would be sleeping unawares. Just the thought of it made him lick his lips. It did little to allieviate his frustration, but it did give him some small thing to look forward to.

For now, boredom persisted.

demonstrationevi (10:00:58 PM): Asadaki was anything but bored. He had too much to do, too much to worry about... his sister, where they would go next, when they would eat,,, She had proven so far that she would obey him and stay put... but for a long time, Asadaki had been lonely. He felt as though he couldn't entirely trust anyone he met. Anyone could go after Biku, no matter what gender or species they were. In his pack, he had trusted and cared for everyone... but now there was no one to talk to except Biku. And he loved her, and he trusted her... but she didn't always make for the best conversation.

With the same passion the other hyena he hadn't met yet felt, Asadaki was... well, as terrible as he felt for the feeling, he was bored. The entire world was open, but there was nothing to see or do, except hunt and stick close to his sister. Surely there had to be more out there than that... but he couldn't leave her behind. Perhaps that was the reason he climbed up to such a difficult spot, though he couldn't be sure. He just wanted something to do... but still, he felt lonely.

Then he saw the white hyena. Asadaki was forced to do a momentary double-take. The hyena looked just like... well... every picture he had ever seen drawn, or description he had heard of Kiruhu. But he knew better, after a moment. That hyena was no God... but the likeness was rather incredible. He took a deep breath and shook his head. He was starting to believe in the fairy tales he had tried so hard to get himself and his sister away from.

He stood dumbly... sure the other hyena would notice him sooner rather than later, but unsure of what to say.

VoiceOfDoom1739 (10:15:53 PM): Of course Kavu had noticed the other hyena; he was downwind of him. It was hard not to notice him. And yet, for a moment Barafukavu played at not seeing him, to give him a moment to show his character. The pause and the stare told Kavu all he needed to know, an dhe supressed a grin. Young and stupid. Excellent.

Kavu picked up his head from where he rested and cocked it, playing at curiosity, though the boy's presence couldn't be more obvious. "Oh, hello," said Kavu. "I didn't hear anyone coming. I hope I'm not imposing on your terrirory." He rose to all fours, knowing full well that Asa was damn lost, just from the look on his face and the smell of him. He wasn't from around here. Granted, neither was Barafukavu... but you could tell the look of someone who was used to traveling. This boy was not used to traveling.

Boredom was disintigrating. This would be a fun experiment.

demonstrationevi (10:21:46 PM): Asadaki blinked, suprised at the calmness of the other hyena. He quickly bowed his head, being polite as fast as he could. He really needed to get over the likeness, or he was liable to get himself killed... and then who would protect Biku? But still... Despite being young and foolish, Asadaki knew he always had to be on his guard in some respects. Even those who seemed like friends could be foes but... but...

"Ah... hello." He said, polite and gentlemanly as he could manage to be. The other hyena didn't seem to mean any harm at all. In fact, he seemed to be just as much a gentleman as Asadaki was, "No, not at all... I don't mean to impose on yours either, of course. I just wanted to see what was up here." He said quickly, glancing around the sparce area. He doubted the other hyena lived there... there wasn't enough around. Perhaps he had merely been as curious as Asadaki was about the area.

Asadaki was a little relieved... this hyena didn't seem to be as rude as others he had met. But then, he had to be on his guard. One could never be too sure... "I guess you could just say I was curious..."

VoiceOfDoom1739 (10:43:06 PM): Barafukavu chuckled in what he assumed was a warm tone and meandered over to the younger hyena. "Relax, relax," he assured him. His hips and tail swished as he walked, making a show of his confidence. "These lands belng to no one, so far as I know... though I'm afraid they hold much of nothing." He shook his head and sighed. He dropped to his haunches before Asa and shrugged. "But what can we do?" Pale blue eyes drifted innocently aside. "It's one of those dull, quiet days."

A smile crept across Kavu's face... a little slowly, perhaps, for comfort, and a little unnatural, but Kavu wasn't accustomed to smiling, and he was sure that he needn't be in his best character for a fool such as this. Boy hadn't been amongst other hyenas much for a long time; Kavu could tell just by the smell. "Curiosity is a virtue, I say," he said. He extended a paw to his new acquaintance. "Barafukavu is the name. Kavu, if you prefer."

demonstrationevi (11:00:12 PM): With each word spoken, Asadaki was more relaxed. The other hyena didn't seem to mean him any harm... but he had to be on his guard anyway. Even if he didn't want to be. It could easily be a ploy. It could easily be someone after Biku. But he had been alone for so long... he hadn't had anyone but Biku to trust in such a long time.... He wanted to open up. But he couldn't let himself. He couldn't do that so easily.

He smiled back despite himself, "It doesn't look like anyone could stay here long..." He agreed, shaking his head, "Nothing much to see... but it did look nice from below. But they're lonely, it seems, except for you and I." Her eyes flicked over Kavu one last time, "Seems those dull days are everywhere..." he chuckled though, glad the older hyena seemed to be of a good temper, "Yes... not a virtue I'm usually part of... but every now and then, curiosity does get the best of me. My name is Asadaki... Asa. It's a pleasure to meet you Kavu."

VoiceOfDoom1739 (11:27:12 PM): Folding one paw up against his chest, Kavu bowed. "A pleasure, Asa," he said. "Any company would be pleasure in this lonely place." When he rose, one of Kavu's eyebrows rose too. "But you... seem a touch better than 'anything'."

That was about when the idea occured to him. The greatest game to play. It had been years since Kavu had even tried; matters of the flesh were of little interest to him. And yet, if you played your cards right, they had such fascinating effects on the other party. Creatures got so unnecessarily emotionally involved in their sexuality. It was amusing. And it could prove a fun game to play.

And so, Kavu pulled out a rare move--a little honesty. "You know... I saw you staring." He chuckled and flicked his tail, side to side, in a show of playfulness. "You see something interesting?" He smirked and leaned forward, earnestly curious about the answer. Would he be defensive? Probably. It'd be fun to watch him sputter.
demonstrationevi (11:33:38 PM): If Asadaki had ever blushed before -which he never had, he had always been fairly smooth when things came down to it- he most certainly blushed now. Whether or not it could be seen from under his fur was questionable, but he certainly wasn't ready for his idiocy to be pointed out, "Ah... yes well... company can always be a pleasure when there isn't much else around."

Asa had no idea that he was about to be played in any form. Really, even back at his pride, he has been a respected member. Though some females had shown interest in him, Asa had always known it had more to do with his status... and his duty to kill his sister. But he didn't fail at catching a hint when it was thrown right at his feet. He most certainly wasn't an idiot, even though he was quite naive for someone who had traveled so long. He always did look more inward than outward.

"Well... I.... forgive me, I didn't mean to stare." Asa said quickly, obviously embaressed, "You must understand... I mistook you for someone else... Someone I haven't seen..." Or wanted to see, "in a very... very long time. I'm sorry, it was silly of me... my mind was playing tricks on me." Though it had most certainly brought him to meeting a very interesting hyena. Even though Asa didn't know that Kavu was quite the opposite of his God.

Barafukavu allowed himself a chuckle, watching this poor boy get all worked up and flustered. He seemed like he'd be well spoken in a situation where he was sure of himself... but this boy was far, far from home. Well, a good parent would warn their children of the dangers of straying from the beaten path. He'd have to figure out what sent this boy wandering so far from where he came. But not yet. It was certainly a secret only to be divulged in someone he trusted.

Kavu could be that. For a while.

"No need for apologies," said Kavu, waving off the offense with the flick of a paw. "It happens to the best of us." Which this Asa clearly was not. "Besides... a mutt like me, getting on in years..." He smirked. "Sometimes it's nice to be stared at." Admittedly, Kavu wasn't THAT old--and he took care of his appearance, so it showed... but he had valuble years over Asadaki. Years that would make Barafukavu know better than Asa ever would.

demonstrationevi (12:18:14 AM): Asadaki took a deep breath and calmed himself down. He shouldn't get so worked up... despite the fact that it was rather embaressing to be caught staring at another hyena. He didn't usually get caught up in such things, with his concern for his sister... but Kavu looked so much... He couldn't think about it. He would only embaress himself more, of that he was quite certain... Though Kavu did not seem to mind that much. In fact, the other hyena seemed to be ver pleasent indeed, which Asa found he could appreciate. Especially when he was almost alone in the world, with no friends except Biku.

He wondered, hopefully, if this hyena would be decent enough to be a friend...? He had met some truly horendous creatures protecting Biku, but this hyena could be different. And Asa maintained that most creatures in the world had to be good at heart, right?

"Oh, not at all!" Asa said, not wanting the older hyena to think he was... well, old, for he surely was not. In fact, he was... well, very attractive, but Asa couldn't let himself say that out loud, "You're... well, you look very nice. I'm suprised you aren't stared at too often." Well, so much for that plan. He only hoped it would be taken as a compliment and not as... well, anything else. Nothing else at all, "Forgive me, if I'm forward... I did not mean to be. I am glad that I did not offend you. Before." Where had his tact gone?

VoiceOfDoom1739 (12:31:45 AM): Barafukavu's countenance went dark, and he glanced away, looked down. It was time to turn on the angst. Angst meant pity, and pity meant a good-hearted person was putty in your hands. Still he smiled, smiled for the benefit of his new companion, like he was trying to feign happiness and reassure his little companion. "Thank you," he said. "Thank you, really. But you don't get many stares when you're alone as often as I..."

A meaningful pause. Then Kavu turned to look Asa in the eye once more, ice blue eyes meeting firey red ones. "My apologies. I do not mean to wallow in self pity. That's rude of me." He shook his head, put on a bit of subtle hysteria. "I'm just so glad... so, so glad... to see someone again. It's been so long." He stepped a little closer. Just a little. They could share in desperation together. Or so he'd allow Asa to think. "Do you know what it's like... to feel alone all the time."

demonstrationevi (12:36:29 AM): Of course a hyena like Asa was taken in right away. Putty instantly, for he had never wished harm on another creature -unless of course they had meant harm to his sister- and did not like to see someone as beautiful as Kavu so... well, so very sad. It didn't seem right that someone should be alone if they did not wish it. In part, Asa sympathized, for without Biku, he knew he would have gone completely mad on his own out in the world. He bought Kavu's story hook-line and sinker.

"No! No, it is quite alright. If you desire it, you may share your sorrow with me, I do not mind." He promised, glad that Kavu was being so open. He would have hated for the other hyena to suffer and not say anything, "It has been a while for me as well... I do have a traveling companion myself, so I cannot imagine what it would be like to be alone so long. But I came from a large pack... so it has been odd, just the two of us. It is good to see another hyena again, and I am glad to be of service."

VoiceOfDoom1739 (12:48:14 AM): Even Kavu was surprised to note a single little tear running down his face as he smiled. He was really getting into character this time. "That's wonderful," he said. "I'm glad you have someone to make your wanderings with. You are truly blessed." He shook his head at the invitation to share. He'd shared enough, he felt, to get into Asa's head. "No, I shan't bother you any longer with my silly troubles. Do tell me of your companion." He leaned in with a now genuine curiosity. "Mates, perhaps?" He quirked a brow. "Or perhaps that someone you thought that I was." This was a vital piece of information to Kavu. The nature of his relationship with this singular other would determine exactly in what ways Asa would let Kavu use him.

He had to admit, Asadaki was pretty cute too. Cute and stupid, like a child. The boy would be easily led anywhere, and that to Kavu was the most attractive thing of all. This ought to prove an interesting experiment indeed.

demonstrationevi (12:53:19 AM): "Ah... oh, no, no not a mate." Asa said, a little embaressed by the idea of Biku being a mate. Though he did love her with all his heart, as much as a mate should love their partner, Biku had never been a sexual object for him, but rather a creature of worship who should be cared for at all costs, "My twin sister..." he admitted slowly, not believing Kavu was a real threat to her -if only he knew- so it was probably safe enough to admit that much, "She and I are traveling together."

But how much more could he say? He wasn't sure... and something about Kavu... well, he certainly was attractive... very, very attractive... and Asa had never felt this kind of pull before. Perhaps it was because he had spent so long alone, and perhaps it was because Kavu was so much like... "Ah... forgive me for saying so but you do look a great deal like... ah, Gods this is embaressing... You look a great deal like one of the Gods my old pack worshipped." If he could have blushed any more, he was certain he would have. But who could really tell how deep a shade of red a hyena could turn under his fur?

VoiceOfDoom1739 (1:05:30 AM): Barafukavu chuckled openly at Asadaki's embarassment. Oh so quick to be flustered. It was an adorable quality in a plaything. "A twin?" he echoed. "You are doubly blessed, then. Few folks in this world are graced with a matching sibling to share their life with."

And didn't Asa just keep staring. God, if he wanted, Kavu could probably have him in moments. A wide grin spread across his face. And a zealot too. How perfect. Zealots were always easy to take control of--brains ready for washing. "A god!" he said. "Well that must be the highest compliment I've ever been paid. A god..." He mulled over it in his head, smirking a little. Hyena gods. Everyone knew there weren't hyena gods. Everyone in civilization anyway. But Kavu grew weary of dancing around what he knew Asa wanted, but Asa didn't yet. Growing ever closer, practically looming over the boy, Kavu said, "You know... I think you need a little more than a sister and an ever-absent god in your life. I think you and I need the same thing."

demonstrationevi (1:14:08 AM): "Yes... I think so. She is my closest companion." Asadaki admitted about his sister, smiling softly as he thought about Biku. His whole life, his most trusted companion, the girl he had saved from death... He was blessed to have her. To keep her for himself, from a God he had long since lost faith in.

"Ah... yes, I didn't mean to be rude at all, but from the pictures, you are very similar... Gods it's silly of me to think such things..." And yet Kavu's interest in him never seemed to waver. Asa's obvious embaressment didn't seem to drive away the other hyena like he feared it would. And he didn't want the other to leave... in fact, he would have done anything for him to stay longer. It was wierd, the physical atrtraction that Asa wasn't used to having about... well, anyone. And everything that Kavu said just made so much sense. "Do you really think so?" He asked. An ever absent God... fair enough. Whether or not hyena Gods existed at all had become a bigger and bigger question for Asa. And even if they did, he had long since defied them. And his sister... who he loved... but she wasn't enough. Not when Asa had so many friends back home... he wanted... more, "Do you really believe we need the same thing?"
