Hunter waded in the shallows, trying to wash her maw and paws of blood. It had been a straggler...nothing more! Just someone's lost pup! She was home free! She had been wading in the cool bamboo shade when a pup, struggling for live, thin with almost no fur, had appeared. In a matter of seconds, she was gorging herself on the pup's flesh. When she was hungry, she'd eat anything. She was unpredictable like that. She had to clean herself of evidence! She gargled water in her maw and rolled around in the deeper water as the pup bobbed on the surface, drifting away. She shook herself and clambered out. She was satisfied for now. She had never hunted by herself before. She was kept in the den her mother had dug out. Hunter wore a dog collar her mother had found one day. Her mom used it to restrain her vicious and odd winged little pup. When hunter had grown, she was kept from hunting. And then she was kicked out of the den a week ago. She had ony eaten what she could find since then. She panted heartily. No-one could know she had killed again. Only her mother knew her daughter had cannibalistic tendancies. Hunter panted and shook herself once more. She had only eaten one other pup- her youngest brother. The she-beast flared her large wings and took off as the sun began to fade, ears flicking for more prey. Her red eyes glowed errily in the coming dark.

Verdauga padded cheerily along the borders of what Benita had taken as her own territory. There were no others in the little pack yet, so he was happy to keep an eye (for he only had one) out for any potential members. So far none from the south had dared to enter the East and they were probably still scouring the West and Neutral for him...
He was safe for now and Benita had offered him shelter and protection. She knew and she didn't chase him away at all... But his time here might be limited and he did not want to cause her too much trouble.
But why dwell on the bad? Life was fine for now and this adolescent was going to enjoy every drop of happiness that came his way.

Hunter glided along softly, heading farther east, her eyes flashing in the cold light. She slipped about the area, winds stroking the back of her wings. She paused, sniffing....
Some fresh prey. She dove...eyeing the helix..young and alone......
She landed and snarled as she cut him off, gums showing off her vicious long teeth. She paused...what unappetizing looking prey!

From above in the sky came a thunderous howl a brightly colored alpha helix snarled at the intruder that dared to threaten her pack. Thinking it might be one of the helixes who were after Verdauga because of his past she dove in mid air, whooshing low over the stranger then landing next to her pack mate. Rising her tail, and head high, wings splayed out threateningly she bared her teeth at the female.
"Your trespassing." Benita warned, ears flattening in anger, eyes narrowed.( Yeah, not a good first impression, but hey, she's an alpha...you allowed me to join right?)

(of course i did! ^-^ alphess should know what's coming into her pack)
Hunter looked between the two, holding her growl bottled up...she was outnumbered and they both looked menacing. The female...the female struck fear into Hunter's heart. It was a new emotion...she had never been afraid. But this alpha was...so large and so bright and so regal. Hunter trembled, lowering her wings and head, not enitrely sure how to act.

Verdauga had been startled by the sudden appearance of the female and was quickly on guard. His hackles rose and his maw parted to reveal his sharp, glistening fangs. He had let this winged helix catch him unaware! This would certainly not be good and he would have to perform better if he was to be a valuable addition to this pack. He took a step forward on his natural paw and kept his head high.
A wave of relief washed over him as Benita arrived, so that if this intruder was indeed out after him with a vendetta, he had someone to help him. This intruder was older and larger than he, as he was still an adolescent.

The female seemed to be submitting to her status as alpha, if somewhat fearfully, so she closed her mouth to stop threatening the girl with her teeth. She didn't trust the helix enough to relax so she warily kept on guard. "If your here after him, forget it. He is part of my pack, and under my protection. You will not harm him." She avoided using his name in front of the stranger, she didn't need rumors about him being here. To protect him, to protect his identity, she just called him 'he.'

Hunter growled. "I don't want him." she growled and flicked her tail cooly. She coughed. "I've..." she needed a story. "I've come to join your pack."

"Join the pack?"
Verdauga had been silent thusfar as he watched the strange helix submit towards the alpha called Benita. He was thankful that she was there and inspired fear in the creature. She had the intent to kill just a few moments ago. He had seen that glint in her eyes and it eerily reminded him of the glares of those who had chased him from the Southern territories. As he spoke, he couldn't help but display his feelings in a slight growl. She had practically divebombed him! Surely Benita would see the danger in this Helix...
Of course, it wasn't like the two of them were much different. He had no room to say if she could join or not and he could be considered just as dangerous as he.
His ears flattened as he eyed the bat-like Helix with his single, narrowed blue eye.

Benita wasn't completely fooled either. "What was with the hostility then?" She questioned, she had to be sure this wasn't an assassin sent to infiltrate her pack only to kill Verdauga while she slept. She would never forgive herself if something happened to him while he was under her guard. She was an alpha, it paid to be cautious.
However she was interested in what the female had to say. She had said she wanted to join their pack, and Benita had been howling for a long time to try and lure pack members. She wouldn't completely drive this female away, not before hearing her story then making a final decision. She had to be fair and give the girl a chance to redeem herself. "I'm listening."
