There are many who say the lands are cursed, uninhabitable and doomed for any who set paw in the sands. All around, the signs of death are clear, though many question the purpose of the bones. For some, the bones mark the curse of the sun, the damnation of the desert and its anger. For others, the bones mark the sign of home, the sight of life for the wanderers with a mission. For Nuri, they marked a war last fought, and a prince she needed to see once more.

She moved slowly up the sands, the soft ground shifting beneath her paws, the heat doing nothing for her calloused pads. Her dark pelt stood out against the wind, the pale ground and the bright sky. But she showed no heed, for her blood red pelt stood for something, just as the bones did around her. She was a firekin, though the name had no status anymore her soul still did. She stood for dominance, strength, and an intelligence that spurred a war. Yes, the initiator was back, and as she stood on the hill, overlooking the home she fought so hard for, Nuri felt a sense of peace yet again. It was good to be back.

A looming shadow moved from behind the female, large paws distroying the prints of the self-proclaimed martyr. Deep, blood red eyes latched onto Nuri's form, long scars burning in the sunlight. As the male moved closer, he stalled a step behind, his black markings a sort of tribute to the female. Though his head fell an inch in respect, the strength of his muscles bulged from under his thin coat.

"Mother..." He murmered in respect, his voice dripping with the strength his body portrayed, "...We are so close to the home you fought for...so close to the lands that you manipulated for your own dream...why do you stall now, when this has been what you've waited for..." He watched her reaction from behind his blackened eyes, waiting to see her response as he all but gritted his teeth.

It had been hard, dealing with her return and putting behind all of the lessons he had learned with Moto. But if he wanted to please the one he looked up to, to stand out against the prince his mother had turned to as a new son, he had to play and go back to the old Naraka. Strong, cunning, he fought his life. Yet, as he turned to look at the female who lagged behind, his eyes turning tender, he knew he would never be the monster he once was. He had learned to control his anger, and in turn, had become stronger than ever before. Now, it was up to his mother to see, and accept, the lessons he had learned.

The form of the female made no move, showing no sign of reaction to the words that the other had said. In fact, she seemed strangely aloof to the male she called son, as if she held no faith in his presence let alone his support. Finally, after a long silence as her gaze wandered the horizon, she turned and faced him, catching his glance back at the female she had yet to understand.

"You do not understand the change that has occurred, as I would not expect from anyone outside of these sands. Even I was unable to dream of what occurred behind me...the battle...the bloodshed. With such a change happening overnight, one would be foolish to assume the sands will stay the same even after my small absence."

She paused a moment, as a breeze picked up once again, causing both to close their eyes and protect them from the small shards.

"The breeze erases our paths, and creates new ones for us to follow. It is only with our wisdom and patience that we may protect us from the challenges ahead."

He found himself blinking at his mother's words, stunned from the meaning and knowledge that was held behind them. He had long forgotten what had drawn him to follow his mother, to strive to become just as she. But now, as he finally returned under her protective silence, he realized just how beautiful she really was.

It wasn't the personality that drew him in, per say, but instead the way she spoke, the way she held herself. She held a strength he never found in himself, though he tried. There were scars on his body to show the trails he faced, and inevitably failed. But she, she lasted months alone, fighting for her morals, and eventually changed a pride.

His mother was something he could never be, and while he knew that, he couldn't help but wish that maybe, one day, he would be standing before others, leading with words alone.

Her eyes glared at his silence, his lack of reaction, before she turned away, pondering once again on the changes in her son. There was a strength about him, though not one she had taught him. Instead, he seemed to act as she had when he was born, a moment of weakness, though full of strength. Though in the time they were together, this weakness did not wane. Gaze wondering, she landed sights on the girl, and realized exactly what was going on.

A huff left her maw, and she rolled her shoulders back with a swift crack. They had been traveling for ages, and passed many pleasing spots to relax. Finally, she relented, and moved down toward a rock formation.

"We will stay here...it seems that we need our rest..."

Naraka knew right away from the glance that she made, that his mother did not use we in it's common sense. She needed no rest, but instead used it as a moment to exam her surroundings. Suddenly, a weight fell on his shoulders.

He knew it, she used the rest to examine him.

"It has been a long journey...we will need our strength encase we encounter any...difficulties..."
