A soft sigh came from Nataya as she took her usual seat near the back of the room. The poor girl looked exhausted, but somehow still managed to wear a small smile on her face. She cast a glance at the clock; still had a bit of time before the first bell of the day rang. She pulled a sketchbook out of her backpack, flipping it open to an empty page as she began doodling whatever came to mind. She let out a small, content giggle as she seemed to slip off into her own little world.
She barely noticed as her peers started to fill the empty desks, busy working on what appeared to be nothing but a fancy-schmancy squiggle.

Polly stepped into the classroom, dragging and feeling overwhelmed by the cold weather clothes that Chloe had forced her to wear. She wasn't one to get cold very easily, so she was practically sweltering now. The moment she walked through the door the blue fluffy jacket was unzipped and tossed negligently at her desk.
Then she remembered about the secret santa thing and her eyes ran over the classroom, trying to figure out who "Nataya" was. She grabbed a random kid, asking the question quietly.
"Oye, who's Nataya?"
Kash blinked, raising an eyebrow, then pointing at the girl in the back.
"Thanks."

Nataya's pencil paused on the paper; she could have sworn she heard her name being mentioned. She shook her head once, deciding that it had to have been her imagination. Her pencil touched the paper again as she continued to draw. She absently started drawing circles as she slipped back into thought. She was still at a loss of what to get Antony, but she had to think of something, though! What to do, what to do...

Polly put her bag down, digging through it and pulling out a bag. The bag was moving and making muffled noise, but she ignored it and headed on silent feet for the desk in the back, intent on not being noticed.
Thankfully the other girl was as intent on her art as she was on sneaking, she thought as she slipped the bag into the girl's school bag and dropped down in a chair nearby.

Nataya looked up from her art, if it could be called that, as she heard someone nearby, just in time to see Polly sitting down. "Hello." she said cheerfully, smiling brightly at the other girl.
She seemed to pause for a moment. She thought she heard some small, mumbled noises, but brushed it off as it being her imagination again. Her imagination seemed to be awfully active today for some reason.

"Yo," Polly said with a bright grin. "I'm Polly," she added, holding out her hand to shake. Obviously she didn't feel one bit of sympathy for the poor creature tied up in the bag.

Nataya smiled, shaking the hand as it was offered. "I'm Nataya. It's nice to meet you, Polly." she said, releasing the girl's hand. Her eyes noticed the girl's necklace and the lovely dark red gem in the center of it. "I like your necklace; it's really shiny and pretty."

"An' it's mine, too!" Polly said, soooo happy that someone appreciated her necklace. "I didn't even steal it, it's mine fair an' square!" That she had to brag about not having to steal it seemed perfectly normal to her. "Your wings are real pretty," she said. "All I got is a tail, see?"
The tail came up, waving hello.

Nataya smiled, nodding. "That's great!" she said, giggling. She was glad she didn't have to steal the necklace, though it did get her wondering what the girl had stolen. Oh well, that didn't matter. "Thank you! Oh, you're tail is awesome! The feathers are so pretty, and they're such a bright shade of reddish-orange-ish!" She'd never seen a color that pretty since purple. And the girl's hair was almost the same!

"Thank you!" Polly said. She reached up, tugging on a feather in her hair. "It's not good when there are cats around, though," she said, patting her tail.
By this time the creature in the bag was shouting so loud that it was hard to ignore.

Nataya nodded, sort of understanding. "They go after the feathers, huh?" she guessed. She blinked, sure she heard something now. But, where was it coming from? She glanced around, her eyes falling on her bag. Had one of the dustbunnies gotten stuck in there again?
She hauled the bag up into her lap, opening it and glancing inside. She didn't find a dustbunny, but she did find something else. She reached in, pulling out a small, moving bag. She didn't remember packing that in her bag. Carefully, she opened the moving bundle, curious to see what it was.

A little head popped out of the bag, a look of irritation carved into the face. "I can't believe--" he started out, shoving the bag off of him and climbing out. Then he took a deep breath. "I," he said in a stately manner, "am not your gift."
He could feel gold eyes bearing into his back. He didn't dare look at Polly now. "My name's Nack," he told Nataya, flying up to the top of her desk. "I am second guard for the cherry tyrant king, Silva."

Nataya gasped slightly, her mouth forming an almost-perfect little "o". The last thing she'd expected to see come out of the bag was a little person, let alone an unhappy little one. And why on Gaia would he think he was a gift?
"Um, hello, Nack." she said, smiling a little as she bowed her head once in respect. She wasn't sure, but second gaurd sounded like a high position to her. "My name is Nataya. It's...it's nice to meet you. Well, if it's okay that I ask, what were you doing in my book bag?"

"I'm here to--" His mind raced, trying to come up with something. "Sing you a Christmas song, from your secret Santa," he said abruptly. They had Christmas on the island, or something like it, and it was everywhere around Gaia.
Then he realized that saying that meant he actually had to sing...

Nataya smiled; that was such a nice gift! She loved anything musical. "What song are you going sing?" she asked, curious. She didn't know many carols, mind you, so as far as she was concerned, this was also a chance to learn a new one, which meant double the gift!
