Boring, boring, boring || AIM Log - Nootau, Lu ten, & Yin-li (Tahja + DFA)

A sigh ripped through the red male's maw even despite the fact his jaws were ocupied carrying a small, white cub that had been inquisituve enough to leave the den he'd been assigned, "You keep doing this," he stated calmly, almost devoid emotion. The cub in question glared up at the adult and crossed his arms over his chest.

"You keep being boring," the cub grumbled under his breath, as if the fact the story teller was 'boring' was excuse enough for him to run off on his own, "Boriiiiiiinggggggg...." he drawled out, however all he got for a response from the large red adult was a soft snort like sound, blown through his nose.

Yin-li as of yet had no specific assignments, she was still under the pride's watch, she suspected, and until they knew for certain that she was worthy and trustworthy she'd stay that way. To take advantage of her temporary freedoms she would often help Kadogo by looking after his rather intimidatingly large brood in the mornings while he went out to catch breakfast. Usually the cubs were asleep but on several occasions she'd had the opportunity to keep them entertained and it only strengthened slowly the matching maternal set of clock and instinct that she had.

Oh, she was well aware that as they grew they'd become some of the fiercest warriors among the pride, especially with Kadogo for a father (and she was sure, eventually, Ilahle as an adoptive mother), not to mention the teachers and other pride members-- but for now they were just cute little fluff balls. If she hadn't had Azarax to compare herself to as a youth she might have wondered if she and her siblings had really been even smaller than that when they were cubs, being of outsider blood. Yin was, as of that moment, returning from a talk with Uuo at the borders, and happened to spot the two heading back for the care taker's dens.

"Lu ten, are you giving your sitters the run around again...?"

Her tone was teasing as she strode towards the pair calmly to pick up stride along side, assuming that the storyteller (Who she'd yet to meet formally) didn't mind.

"He keeps boring us with these long talks about what'chamacallits and rules!" came the cub's whine as he spotted Yin, "All these stupid stories about all these stupid lions that are already dead! Who cares about stupid dead lions anyway; they're dead. Because they were stupid," the later was grumbled under his breath as the cub crossed his arms over his chest, his ears flattening back against the top of his head.

The story teller/teacher, let out a small sigh; something he was horribly prone to do around the cubs, "It's called history. It is not stupid. It will help you survive, if you know the mistakes overs made in the past," turning towards the female, the rather large male made a small movement of his head; a clear salut and obvious permissio to join them. He was, after all, still a young adult, and though he'd apprenticed and become a story teller (not to mention the fact he'd been adopted by Kidondo and No in the first place, found wandering the borders, a while back while still a cub), he was respectful of the other pride members, "This one keeps wandering away."

"Booooooring."

"Lu ten has.... his aunt's attention span, from what I've seen." She offered a small smile. "Lu, you know, the more you run from the stories now the more that you'll have to repeat listening to them from the beginning later, right...? You should give them a listen, I'm sure that there are important lessons to be learned."

The cub flattened his ears further against his head, shooting the lioness a bitter look that voiced the fact he did not appreciate the comparison, for some odd reason. Rather than talk more though, he turned to glare at an innocent boulder as the story teller padded on. He had half a mind of giving the lioness a snippy remark of what he thought she and the story teller could do with the stories and that he couldn't care less, but he'd learnt a while back that there was a 'line' he could not cross, or he would be punished. A snippy remamrk would be crossing 'the line', without a doubt. Instead, he simply looked as sour as he could.

Nootau ignored the child he was so used to carrying as of late and instead focussed his attention on the female, arching a brow, and though mild curiosity flashed within his eyes, he looked otherwise... bored, cold. Then again, he always did, unless he was listening to something Kaanga was telling him, "You are interested in the history of the pride Miss... ...." he struggled as he realised he had no idea what her name was.

"Your face will stick like that if you keep making it, Lu ten." She sighed softly herself as well. She supposed it was just his way. To her history was fascinating, and while she had learned all she could of the Dawn Walkers she still had a desire to return here to her birth lands to be a PART of history as the pride made itself anew. Looking to Nootau at the pause she realized he was waiting for a name from her, so she readily supplied it. "Yin-li, I'm... new to the pride still. Well, returning at least. And yes, his father taught me when I was younger but I'm afraid that my mind was also in another place at the time, my memory of the teachings are a bit addled."

The cub's eyes grew wide for a moment before the narrowed again, his ears flopping back even flatter against his head, "You're such a liar," he grumped, "That's not even possible. I'm not stuuuuuupid like you!" he turned stick his tongue out, but the story teller cleared his throat at the same time, nipping slightly at the cub's skin, "Hey! HEY! THAT HURTS!"

"Stop being so rude to your elders and do apologise this instant," the voice was harsh this time making sure his displeasure was heard. The cub must have noticed it, for he grumped fast apology at Yin-li and turned to look away, half upset to have been scolded, half embarrased, "Forgive him, he's growing still," Nootau's ears perked slightly at her words though, "Ah, I see... was this before the rebellion? I'm afraid I wasn't here during that time. Kidondo found me padding the Desert alone when I was a cub."

Truth be told Yin-li's brothers were nothing like Lu ten, so she was surprised to hear a cub speaking that way. Granted, in their brood, if Meilin had been around to hear it they would not soon forget the lesson. She was impressed with how well and easily Noo handled the situation, though.

"Cubs will be cubs." She reasoned, though she was sure that Kadogo wasn't much more lax on such behavior. It was the first she could recall of it-- but no surprise there, she was usually only around when the children were peacefully asleep. Ha. "It was, my family was born here, well, my litter mates and I. My parents were slaves at the time and so, so were we. Kadogo was my brother and I's keeper, though from what I understand now it was more for protection than any actual desire to have a slave. Let alone two."

And he was taken in by Kidondo and her cousin, that was interesting. She wondered how he'd wound up so far from wherever he must have come from to be on the Firekin's border?

"Some will be more cublike than others," the storyteller mumbled slightly through the pelt he was still holding in his mouth, "He's not usualy half as bad, but he's aparently... having a bad day. Of which his teachers and father will be informed."

Lu Ten's head snapped to look up at the red lion that was carrying him (or as best as he could, given his position), the grumpiness having been replaced by shock and something akeen to fear, "You wouldn't!"

"I would. So behave," he felt the cub squirm a couple of times before reluctantly falling limp, grumbling to himself. His eyes strayed back to the lioness, "I did not see the pride while it had slaves, as I arrived after the slip. However, it is my belief that slavery is a horrid idea. I'm quite surprised to see how many of the so called 'slaves' were able to rise and show their worth when time came," a mild nod from the large lion's head, "Slaves make a pride weak from need; all members should look for themselves without the need for someone to bully."

Nootau felt the curiosity from the female, and he managed a small smirk even while carrying the cub, "My mother was.... special, in her ways. She spoke to me while I was a cub... about these lands. I've always had an afinity for fire, and I strayed from her side one day. Found myself walking and arrived here. I don't know how I made it. By all means, I should have died, all alone in the Desert; Kidondo found me and took me in," what no one within the pride knew, and would never know, was that Nootau was the son of the goddess of Fire. He'd been smart enough never to mention it.

Yin smiled just a tiny bit at the exchange. Under the tough exterior he did still fear discipline after all, she'd learned quite a bit about Lu ten in such a short span. It was one of her favorite studies, people, that was to say. "I agree, and thankfully so did other members of the pride. They never saw the rebellion coming."

She took in what he said about his mother and the way he'd come to find these lands, and nodded.

"Then you were clearly meant to be here, Nootau, do you mind if I ask what it is that you do? Are you one of the story tellers? Forgive me but I haven't met everyone just yet."

"I hear the ones that do not agree.... and are still together, away from this side of the pride, are not fairing well," he clicked his tongue over the pelt of the cub as best as he could, "Maybe they will come to terms through hardship," as they reached the dens he had been padding towards, he lowered his head and placed Lu ten on the floor. The cub, still well aware that he was in 'deep trouble', remain utterly still, though he did glare at the ground.

Nottau nodded again as she spoke, "Kidondo thinks so too," he murmured, "He said that had he not been religious, he woud have pointed out how strange it was. Alas," he rolled his shoulders before continuing, "I appretisiced to Kaanga a while back, and still learn from her to this day, though now I hold the rank of Story teller myself," he placed a paw over Lu ten's head, "It is my duty to tell these ones about the past, though I'm afraid I might not be half as entertaining as Kaanga is."

"That's my understanding as well. Apparently some of them have already realized the error of the traditionalist's ways, at least one of them, and who knows, it's very probable that soon they'll all realize that there is no future in a pride with interrelated bloodlines."

She was referring to Azula, though refraining from describing any further. She didn't know just what the cubs thought of being separated from their mother and didn't plan to bring her up directly lest she maybe make an irritated Lu ten even more cranky.

"Don't worry, Kadogo's little ones can be difficult to please at times. They have a very varying taste." She chuckled. "I should be going for now, I promised to run patrol with Uuo at the border."

Yin paused at the entrance and looked to Lu ten again, nudging the cub gently with a paw.

"And you, lighten up a bit, Lu ten, it's not all bad." She smiled a bit but didn't expect a happy answer after the earlier exchange.

"Time will tell," he commented lightly, not stalling on whom the lioness was, for he was well aware of Lu ten's situation (and that of his sibblings), "Time will tell... and will hopefuly bring is good news," a small shake of his head signalled the fact he'd never quite understood the traditionalist way; he respected them, just like he would have respected anyone else, but did not agree with their ways.

The cub looked up at both adults briefly, though he did flatten his ears back as Yin spoke to him, aiming a mildly grumpy glare at her. At first it might have seemed as if he wasn't going to talk, but he finaly opened his mouth, "Okay..." at least, it was better than being called 'stuuuuupid', which was doubtlessly... progress.

Nootau nodded as the cub spoke, pleased to see the earlier warning had proven effective, then turned to look at the female, "Then you best be going," he gave the cub a mild nudge with his nose, and Lu ten stood to enter the den, only turning back to watch the adults one last time before running off to join his sibblings, "I need to get back to the lessons myself," with that, he turned to follow the cub. However, he did pause at the entrance, to speak one last time, "It was a pleasure knowing you. Feel free to drop by if you so wish to," and with that, he was gone.
