Opera LosefreeOpera smiled at her live studio audience - all filed with emotional women who applaud at just about anything that Opera says or does. Sometimes she felt like punching each and every one of them in the face, they could get so annoying at times! But, she never does. Instead she buys them things, like giving everyone in the audience a gift of an expensive convertible sports car. Sweet simple small favors like that as a token of gratitude for their dedication to her show. "And for our guest today we have Khahlela Umfula," introduced Opera. "You may have read about her in the tabloids, involved in a horrific scandal involving the death of Lourdes Milton's beloved chihuahua Tinkertroll. Lourdes has made accusations against Khahlela for the murder of the dog, which many speculate to not be true. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome, Khahlela Umfula!" The audience jumped out of their seats in a wild manic applause. Certainly a warm welcoming, albeit intimidating.

Lela walked out, dressed in a pair of bell bottom jeans and a nice, warm thick sweater. Her hair was frizzy as ever, all over the place, but pushed back with a headband that matched the print of her sweater. Any color the African woman wore always had a pattern on it. It was obvious she was nervous, but she took her seat, crossing her legs at the ankles, brown fuzzy boots whispering lightly. Lela couldn't help it, her eyes were drawn to the audience. She wanted to smack them because they made her to nervous. "Hello, Opera," she managed once the audience had finally shut up. She played with her bangles, a nervous habit. "I am glad you let me come here today."

Opera Losefree"Oh, no thank you, its nice to have you on the show," Opera said with a smile. Having done so many interviews, Opera was able to tell when someone was nervous. And Opera could tell that Khahlela was definitely nervous, the way she fidgeted with her accessories. "How are you feeling?" she asked in a soothing tone of voice. Despite the craziness of her audience, the last thing she wanted was someone to come onto her show feeling nervous the entire time. She wanted Khahlela to feel comfortable and tell her story. After all, that is why she is here.

"Well, honestly? I'm feeling alright. Your staff makes people calm.." She'd talked to one guy while waiting. She couldn't remember his name, but they talked about his boyfriend. She was slowly starting to relax, ignoring the audience as if they weren't there.
With a heavy sigh, Lela shook her head and smiled. "You look stunning. I've never seen such a strong, colored woman." It was true. While her own village was full of strong women, Opera had something more.

Opera LosefreeOpera smiled at the compliment, she was truthfully flattered. "Thank you," she mouthed with a little voice, not too loudly, but loud enough for at least Khahlela to hear it. "Why don't we start with your story, where you born and just some information about yourself. A brief autobiography, about how you got to where you are today." Opera was always fascinated by the stories of others, especially people who are in the attention of the media. She was always curious about how they got to the place they are today, and all of the struggles along the road.

Lela sighed and nodded. Her story wasn't textbook normal, but that was alright. "I was born in Pemba, Africa. I have a father and brother over there I'm supporting with what I earn here. How I got discovered was, there was an agent over in Pemba for vacation, and he saw me, literally, singing for my supper. One thing then another, and here I am today." Her expression grew rather sad as she remembered.
"I went back home for a while, last year, and learned that my village is being plagued with lion attacks. It is a sign the gods are not happy with someone. I thought it was me, but it didn't change when I got home. I stayed until the lions were caught, and then my agent called me back."

Opera Losefree"That's horrible," Opera gasped. She couldn't imagine what it would be like to find her home being savaged by a wild pack of lions. Then again, she lives in Chicago so she couldn't really imagine a lion roaming around on its own in the city anyways. "It must be a very rough year for you then, between the lion attack in your village and then the entirely unfair accusations made by Lourdes Milton that you killed her dog." Opera hated Lourdes Milton with a burning passion, especially since her arrest and the commotion she has been stirring because of it and the way she doesn't care who she hurts along the way, so as long as she comes out looking innocent. Opera detested people like that. "What has been going on with all of that? What is the true story of what happened with Tinkertroll?"

Lela nodded a little and sighed, shrugging. "I came in when she was getting angry at Recks. Why, I do not know. You'll have to ask him about it. Maybe he can come here next time. But... When I showed up, she was very upset and ready to throw something. ...It just happened to be Tinkertroll.
"Recks got Tinkertroll first, but I took the dog from him to examine it, to see if Tinkertroll was alright. I told her I'd call the ASPCA, but she started freaking out. She said she kept him in a drawer, with it shut of all things. And sometimes she'd drop food in. Anyway, she had him and was shaking hard. She lost her grip and he ran out the door when it was open." With a sigh, Lela rubbed her temples. Lourdes Milton made her really, really angry sometimes. Even just remembering.
"...So then I chase it down the sidewalk... and Tinkertroll ran into the street before I could get to him.. and was hit. That's what really happened."

Opera LosefreeOpera's hatred for Lourdes Milton grew with each word. She would store her dog in a drawer? As if it were some piece of clothing? Lourdes deserved to go to jail, the reason she was let out is a mystery to her. "That must have been very difficult," Opera said mournfully. "I hope you know that Tinkertroll's death is not your fault, it was clearly something completely accidental. While I understand that Lourdes must feel horrible and want to put the blame on somebody, you do not deserve the blame." The audience applauded with nods in approval of Opera's words. "Aside from dealing with the stress over this whole fiasco, what has been going on with you? Do you have any singing performances coming up?"

Lela felt better getting that out in the open. She didn't lie about anything, even coming in int he middle of everything. With a nod, she leaned forward. "I have a Christmas concert coming up for the orphans. I'm going to help raise money so they'll have a good Christmas this year. I'm donating what I can, as well. It'll be in Times Square. Everyone's invited!"

Opera Losefree"A charity event? I'll be sure to attend and give my endorsement," Opera said with a smile. She was a very charitable person, and just by Khahlela's mentioning of a charity event she became inclined to give a $100,000 or so to the charity. She can afford it, after all, she has hundreds of millions of dollars. "Well thank you for coming on to the show, I hope everything goes better for you and this whole scandal blows over soon. We'll be back after a commercial break." The audience applauded once more as the cameras went off air. Opera extended her hand for a handshake and thanked her once more for coming on.

After saying her goodbyes, Lela walked back behind the stage and nearly squealed. She'd told her side of the story, and Opera was going to attend the charity concert. Oh, this was an auspicious day indeed!
