Well, not exactly. I played this game about 3 years ago. Made it to level 40 Drk and 30 Pld with war subbed to them. I hadn't played long. Maybe a month or so. Something happened. I don't know what. My account wasn't there. I end up loosing my account and Square wouldn't recover it. So I end up quitting. Well, my brother seen the 2008 collection at a store and talked me into playing it with him.

I'm currently on Bahamut server. I've noticed since I've quit playing, there aren't many people online. At least in newbie areas. And there is hardly anything in the auction house. So what I'm basically asking here is for some help.

I pretty much have the leveling down. It actually seems a whole lot easier. However, I made money by the auction house. Buying low, selling higher. Kinda like here. But with not that many items there period, I'm kinda at a loss as to what to do as the more I level the higher priced things become and I seem to be leveling way too fast with not enough gil.

I am looking to be a paladin again. I know they have to stay up on their gears so this poses a problem to me. I'm still a bit rusty with this game and have forgot alternate means as to obtaining gil. At this point I'm a level 14 war and have been playing for a couple of days. (sucha newb) I feel like I'm just getting ahead of myself.

I'm not asking for handouts. Just a good way to make gil. Any tips on what to do would be really appreciated. Also, if there is anyone on that server, if there is a Ls I could join and maybe help my brother and I when we do our sub job quest. I do feel pretty much alone in this game. With the occasional one or two other newbies I see in this game. I only see high levels who just ignore people.

Thank you for you time. Sorry for the wall of text. D:

I wuol suggest that you go to FFXIclopediaand look for repeatable quests started in your nation and start farming level the thief even if your not going to use it for anything other than farming for the traits Gil finder and treasure hunter which are great to have and fishing is almost always profitable.

I would also level smithing, woodworking, and leather working as you go. Trust me, you will save more money when you have to start leveling the Paladin class.

Ah, thank you very much for the info. I suppose I will work with fishing until I gain a good profit from. I do also plan to have a thief sub in the future, so that will also work out. As far as the others, they will have to wait until I get some gil built up. I'm actually kinda working for my brother at the same time. He's a Redmage taru. Can't even afford spells. And at the moment, I'm a Bastokian. Just need a ls to make the game not so quiet. ;-;

The whole thing about money is know what you're doing.

With the latest update Jeuno is tax free, so if you need to sell anything, sell it at Jeuno when you can.

With Paladin... most people would do Monk -> 15, Warrior -> 30, Paladin -> 50+, Ninja -> 18, Warrior -> 37, and Paladin -> 75

WAR/NIN is a trademark anymore thanks to Utsusemi: Ni. You can manage to 37 without /NIN however. Also, do be wary of levelsync. Try to keep the level sync within 5 or so levels. Once you hit 50, it begins to make a HUGE difference.

Beyond that, Paladin is a fairly cheap job. Some investments will need to be made, but overall you're not looking at much.

And as always, Silk is a good money maker for lower levels.

If you're doing paladin, 3 subs that you'll need.

RDM(for phlanx, situational)
NIN(HNM and merits)
WAR(exping)

And about money, watch the market when you do. I sell only when there's low supply and overprice like crazy. People buy because I also buy up all the main ingredients on the AH for a few hours just so no one can mess with me to much
Mean? yes.
Monopolizing? Meh, just for a day or 2, once I get what i want, I stop.
Also, if you just can't wait for the gil, underprice, but not by much. Had a friend who sold a kraken club(at the time 80million!) for only 5mil, which really sucked.

Learn the market and it's easy to make gil. It's also easy to spend it all on a certain bow...that I still don't have cause my irl job is kicking my a**.

Oh sorry. I pretty much become caught up in the game. I have things under control. Plenty easy. Things are a lot more cheaper then what I remembered. I'm enjoying myself and doing fine. Already a 40 pal.

Although I've pretty much given up on fishing because I can't even get the first skill point. I see they added a "fishing fatigue." That wasn't there when I had played years back. You could fish all you wanted. Is there a particular reason for this? Seriously, two weeks of dealing with that and not even one point. I even bought the fishing set. Pretty lame. In my opinion.

Seems to me like the only problem is lack of help getting missions done. I can't find people who are doing them. Although I'm joined with a few Ls, people just don't help. Of course they help if you're character is female, but mine is not. Is there a reason for this? :/

Well I can answer the fatigue question they added that as a measure to prevent botting SE says there are results but we'll see. Also as for why they usually help women is all lies I ask my LSes daily for help and they just ignore me and I really need my LB2 done. x.x

plus /dnc and/or /whm (depending on preference) for campaigning. Campaign is a big source of exp for pld at 60+ when pt invites slow down as melee-burns take over, and currently plds aren't too popular for this kind of party.
Luckily plds are badass at campaign, which kind of makes up for it biggrin

You may also consider levelling /drk for dynamis and certain other endgame situations, but that's way in the future biggrin

In anycase, /war will take you to 75 for exp if you want it to. Having /whm or /rdm or /nin or /dnc handy for sneaking/invising yourself around is pretty handy tho as you level up, especially while you are trying to obtain your AF equipment (go go coffer hunting).

Good luck with pld biggrin It was my first 75 too biggrin Luckily its comparatively cheap until higher levels (price of gear only starts to bite at 60+ smile )
