demonstrationevi (8:49:15 PM): Asadaki returned back to the den where he and his sister had recently been staying. With him, he brought back the food which he still had to properly cleanse in order to insure that nothing impure would touch her lips. He couldn't allow anything to happen to her... even if he knew for a fact that she would not be able to their pack, nor would their God ever accept her now that she was too old.
"Biku?" He called out softly, looking into the den he had specially prepared for her. He could only hope that she was still exactly where he had left her... he didn't like to think about the possibility that someone had attacked her while he was away... just as terrible as the idea of her wandering off anywhere, and being abducted....
Every time he left her alone, he cowered at the idea of something hapapening to her. Asadaki could barely stand that... even being away from her for a second drove him insane with the worry about her. She remained as much the center of his world as ever. "Biku?" He hoped she wasn't sleeping... he would hate to wake her. She was everything he had, and that hadn't changed.
VoiceOfDoom1739 (9:03:29 PM): Dabiku lay curled up on a bed of ferns and flowers, awaiting Asa's return. She did not sleep; she couldn't. She only waited. The den was barely illuminated by the light of the moon. She would love to go out and dance in the moonlight, dance for her lord, but she could not. She had to wait for Asa to return, or Asa would be angry. Of course, he'd never do anything to her, never dare to do anything which could cause her to be marred... but she could feel his anger, and it frightened and depressed her.
Her ears swiveled when his voice reached her from the mouth of the den. Yawning, she sat up, though her head still drooped low. "I am here, Asa," she said. "I am awake." She could smell the scent of the blood of a fresh kill, and it made her mouth water... but it would be a long while yet before she could feed. Preparations had to be made. She shuddered at the thought. She was so hungry.
Perking a little at the sight of her brother, she put on a good face and a smile for him; she'd hate to make him worry. "Brother," she said to him. "How is the moon tonight? Please tell me. Is it full?" She wished she could go out to see it, but for now she'd have to wait and satisfy herself with a description.
demonstrationevi (9:19:27 PM): Asa smiled, relieved instantly when Biku answered him. He didn't know what he would have done if she hadn't answered him. He swiftly replied, "The moon is beautiful tonight my sister... here, you can come inside and see it, if you like. I will prepare your dinner while you watch." He did love to see Biku dance for their God... though he did not know if they, lost and alone, were in his favor any longer. She was the only thing that kept him going... that, and the lie that they were still loved.
"Come outside, please..." He whispered, turning and laying out the beast he had killed for her. Asa quickly found the herbs he would use to clense the dead creature. He would not eat, nor would he rest until she had eaten first. And he didn't want he cooped up inside the den until it was done. She had already been there the whole day, waiting for him.
He hummed to himself softly as he worked, waiting for her as he glanced up at the cresent moon above them. A beautiful month... how long had they been running from their homeland? How much longer had Biku lived, than when he should have killed her with his own paws? He couldn't bear the thought. Seeing her happy and alive, and free kept him going.
VoiceOfDoom1739 (9:57:35 PM): A single tear stung at the corner of Biku's eye. She could go outside! She could finally go outside. "Thank you, brother!" she cried. She slipped outside and nuzzled him. Her glinting red eyes glanced down to the kill, and she licked her lips. "And thank you for catching this." Her tail lashed at the very thought of eating it. "It is wonderful, Asa."
Stepping past him and fully out into the open, the gray moonlight washed over her, the light of Kiruhu's love. She stood beneath it, head turned up and eyes shut, mouth turning to a smile. She could feel it; she could feel Kiruhu's love. He still wanted her. He was reaching out for her. Rearing back, she lunged wholehearted into her dance. Toes flickered lightly over the ground, barely landing before lifting again. She was light as air in the joy of her love. Breathless. All track of time, of her hunger, of the loss of her home, was lost.
demonstrationevi (10:23:32 PM): Asadaki smiled and nuzzled his sister back, "Don't fear sister, I'll always come back and insure that it's safe for you to come back into the world... I am sorry that you do not have our entire pack to protect you anymore. With just me, I cannot be too careful or else you could..." He winced at the thought. Something... anything... "I would never risk you becoming impure, otherwise I would let you come with me... but a hunt is just too risky."
He then watched her dance in the open, Kiruhu's love so clear to him then... he almost felt guilty for depriving their God of her... The selfishness of keeping her for himself was over-wheling... but how could he be expected to live without the gift of her presence in his life? He looked down at the food and smiled, "It is ready for you, my sister!"
VoiceOfDoom1739 (10:55:01 PM): Biku hadn't been scared, honestly. She trusted Asa. She trusted him to find her a safe place where she was hidden, and she knew that he would always be safe. Asa knew the ways of the world, and could take care of himself. "Thank you," she said once more. "I don't know what I'd do without you. You take such good care of me..." She sighed, and then resumed her dance.
She really didn't know what she'd do without him. Biku never learned to do... anything. Not even the most basic techniques of survival. Biku couldn't live without her Asa to look after her. She missed their pack, but she'd never known a soul besides her mother and her brother--had barely even known her father. Biku loved two things--Kiruhu and Asadaki. Kiruhu was too far away, so in the meantime Asa would do. Some glorious day, Asadaki would fulfill his promise to her, and she would belong to her god.
She landed neatly on all fours when called, then came running. "Thank you, thank you, thank you." Stooping down, she began taking small, neat bites from the carcass, despite her hunger, always being dainty with it.
demonstrationevi (11:02:00 PM): Asadaki watched her, his heart soaring when she thanked him, despite the echoing feeling that he would have to kill her some day... but he couldn't. No matter what Biku did, even if she begged him to... he would never be able to hurt her. He couldn't do it. The world revolved around Biku, and he would rather see Kiruhu, all the Gods and all the stars in the sky fall than give up his sister. She was all he had ever had. All he could hold onto. All he wanted, he had never known any other duty than to love her.
Even the Gods felt far away and worthless in the light of his sister and all she meant to him. He had broken every promise he had ever made to his pack and God, and even to Biku. But he had always kept a promise to himself: To protect her no matter what the cost.
Asadaki watched her eat, waiting until she was done before he took a bite for himself. He couldn't ever let her be hungry. He had to let her be as perfect and happy as she deserved to be. Then... maybe one day she would ask him not to do the one thing he wouldn't do for her: Kill her. "You never need to thank me, Biku. My life is in your service, and in the service of Kiruhu."
VoiceOfDoom1739 (11:16:43 PM): The stars glinted down on her, the many wives of Kiruhu, and she knew they waited for her to join them. The moon, the watchful eye of Kiruhu, stared down, slipping shut into a crescent, as the god readied himself for his monthly sleep. She hoped he would sleep well, and that he knew when he woke again his next wife would still be waiting faithfully for him, taking in the world to bring to him, only needing her Asadaki to finish his duty.
Even with her small, dainty bites, it wasn't long before she'd sated herself. She was small, and had a small stomach; it didn't take much to satisfy her. Stepping back, she licked the blood clean from her lips and sat back, content under the night sky. "Thanking you is all I have to show my boundless appreciation," she told him. "It is your dedication that keeps me alive, and it will be your paws that end me." She bowed her head. "Feed yourself now and replentish your strength, my Asa."
demonstrationevi (11:25:57 PM): Asa bowed his head to her and smiled, "Then I will accept your thanks, my sister. My dedication is thanks enough for me... I will do anything you ask of me. And soon, Kiruhu will smile down on us and he will have you as his wife. And you will have seen the world and be able to tell him all you know. What stories you will tell him of the world below him. You shall both be the happiest of married beings." Without him. It would all be without him. Biku's death would be the end of him... and to take his own life would seperate them forever. But living without her would be empty... so he could not give her away. He could not give her up. He wouldn't let that happen.
His head sunk down and he also took small, careful and polite bites. He had a larger stomach than his sister, but he was most certainly no less honourable and gentlemanly for it. He finished and smiled at her, "Would you like to walk, or sleep?" He asked her, wanting to escort her in either case. He had to make sure that she was safe, always.
VoiceOfDoom1739 (11:38:45 PM): Tears flooded Biku's vision and blurred the world before her, distorted all things. Yes. Happy. She would finally be truly happy. She would be happy with the one she loved. It was all she could think of; the idea that she would be lost forever from Asa didn't even occur to her. Surely if Kiruhu loved her as one of his brides he would not allow her to be torn from the brother she loved, the brother who had protected her and kept her pure. He was as dutiful as servant of Kiruhu as her, and surely he would be glad to keep him at his right paw.
She wiped away her tears before Asa could see them, and considered her question. With a full belly, a lethargy was slowly settling over her. "Sleep," she yawned. "I have not been able to sleep all day, and would very much like to now." Even as she said this, she drooped and slumped against her brother, lest she fall to the ground. He would always protect her, and she knew it. Already half asleep, she murmured, "I love you, my brother..."
demonstrationevi (11:45:16 PM): "I will always love you, my sister..." He told her, smiling and comfortable for the first time in a long time, "Come now, let us sleep. I'll watch over you no matter what." He escorted his sister back into the den, knowing that they should move on the next day. The area was hardly safe enough for them to stay in... and they had to keep moving. He had to let her think that as long as they kept moving, Kiruhu would still accept her.
"I will always protect you." He whispered... and he always would. He had to keep her safe. She was all he had. All he would ever have.
"Biku?" He called out softly, looking into the den he had specially prepared for her.
