If you absolutely want to.

I heard it's easier for Oboe and Clarinet players to play Bassoon. But we have one girl who plays Tenor Sax for Jazz and plays Bassoon for wind e.

I'm a clarinet player who played bassoon for a year and I loved it. You should definitely try it, it's a really fun instrument (although definitely a bit more challenging than clarinet).

If you want to.

I was an oboist and i switched to bassoon and i LOVE it

Thing to remember though:its pretty heavy..... (though you'll get used to it after a few weeks) ... the fingering is pretty unusual... you have 12 thumb keys (not at the same time though razz ) and its low... actually... that is probably something you are used to. The Bassoon is only a bit lower than a clarinet... oh! and you have a seat strap. It goes on the bottom of the bassoon and you lay the other end across your chair and sit on it 8D ...My sister and I call it a butt strap though. 8D

But its fun nonetheless. It just depends on if you would like it if you know what i mean... i believe you have to like the instrument you play to be good at it. Cause if you don't you are reluctant and you procrastinate when it comes to practicing, which is very important

In my experience, bassoon players are extremely rare to come by, but it's relatively easy to find oboist, or a clarinetist. So, for the sake of all ensembles out there that would love to have a bassoon player, I would say yes.
