We were talking about limericks one day in my Writing for the Stage class, and the question as to why limericks were always happy or funny arose. Thus, we set off trying to come up with some sad limericks.

And doing so well, we could have sworn
Then she became very sick
It all happened so quick
She was already dead by the morn.
