((>_> <_< ....anyone up for teh_rp?))

((Sure. Do you wanna start?))

((Sure thang.))

Learning how to hunt is a part of every pup's life in the wild--chasing rabbits into ditches and squirrels up trees, pouncing on lazy toads and making life miserable for any crows stupid enough to stay on the ground near them. Coheed was no exception to this...although, it seemed, back when the Great b***h was giving out the instincts of the Hunt to Her children, he was apparently off asleep under a log somewhere.

To be more precise, Coheed was chasing butterflies--some of the few woodland creatures every bit as colorful as he was. In this specific instance, it was a palm-sized Monarch that caught his interest, and he was doing everything in his puppy power to catch the thing. Which, more often than not, meant falling over on his back in a confusion of flailing paws after another near miss.

After one such of these, he rolled to his feet and shook enthusiastically, before baring his teeth at the buttefly. "I'll get you for this," he told it in a growl. "Just you wait!"

The butterfly flittered tauntingly, perching upon a fallen log just out of reach. Its orange wings flashed enticingly as it rested there. Coheed gathered himself to leap, and sprung--!

"OW!"

A family of partridges, afrighted, burst from cover at the tremendous bark of pain. Coheed dropped smack onto his haunches, pawing at his abused nose and feeling mighty sorry for himself.

Concealed within the brush as only the sharp eye could discern his carrot hued fur from the lively leaves, Jaxom onlooked the teal pup with a grin as he found his antics to be humorous. He tilted his head in curiosity. He'd never seen him within the realms of the woods before and perhaps he would actually find a friend.

It had been days since he'd last been reunited with his pack but, once again, he'd managed to stray away. There was adventure that lurked around every corner and turn within the woods and Jaxom would see to it that ever part was to be explored. But what fun would it be without having a friend tag along?

Slowly, he padded outside of his protected hideaway and casually strolled towards Coheed with a light-hearted smile. "What are you doing?" His ears perked up while his eyes drifted sight upon the looming butterfly.

The sudden appearance of another pup--one Coheed'd had the vague idea might be in the area, from the scent--gave the teal wolfling an excellent reason to stop feeling sorry about himself. He wuffed in startlement, putting his paw down and swivelling head and ears around to face the newcomer.

"Teaching the butterfly a lesson!" he said firmly. "I'm going to catch it, and when I do, it will be so sorry it ever messed with me!" He puffed his chest up, self-importantly, and gave a wag of his tail to emphasize the point.

The butterfly perched once more on the log, opening and closing its wings enticingly.

Glancing towards the Monarch as it descended towards the log, Jaxom drifted his gaze back towards the teal pup as his eyes gleamed with curiosity.

"Oh," he replied as he took several paces back in attempt to give him more room to proceed onward with the hunt. "They'd always said to be quiet and creep within the shadows for the kill." Lowering himself towards the ground, Jaxom shifted his eyes back and forth from pup to butterfly as he grew silent.

"Are you gonna go after it?" He whispered while keeping his vision between the two in anticipation.

Had he feathers, Coheed's would be ruffled at this juncture. But he did not, so he settled for a huff of breath out through his nose, and flopping into a parody of an adult's crouch. "I know how to hunt," he said, irritated--and a little unsure. The Monarch was right there--but he banged into the log last time, and...

It was the "are you gonna go for it?" that made up his mind. He grinned a cocky grin. "Yeah," he whispered back, and leapt again.

This time, he missed the log and butterfly entirely, soaring over it clearly and landing in something that crackled under his weight. "AAAAAAH!" Thump. "...ow."

After watching Coheed's last attempt, Jaxom simply sighed and gently laid his head upon his forepaws. His eyes were glued onto the teal pup, anxiously awaiting to see the outcome of the battle of pup against butterfly.

Just as the Coheed launched himself, the orange-brown pup leapt onto all fours as the objective seemed within reach. With the second attempt worse than the first, Jaxom winced at the sounds and drew his ears down. Shifting his weight to his back legs, he teetered towards the log and looked down towards the fallen pup.

"Do you need help?" He commented as he scrambled atop the log and made ready to offer what assistance he could provide.

((*winds time backward to Coheed's puppyhood* *takes her fingers off the cosmic VCR* Hokay!))

"Mmmf," Coheed remarked. His fall had been--(un)mercifully--cushioned by a pile of vegatation that was oddly still rather green among the sere browns of the summer-scorched woods. "...huhwh--?" He rolled over onto his back as Jaxom spoke up, blinking his red eyes rapidly--before offering the other pup a lopsided grin, his tongue hanging out.

"Yeah, I'm okay! These leafy things caught me." He giggled abruptly, rolling around in them, before popping to his feet. The white tip of his tail made a fine flag as he wagged it in his amusement. The twitching slowed, though, as he squinted up at Jaxom. "...did, uh. Did the butterfly get away?"

He didn't wait for an answer, instead taking a running leap at the log and managing to get two legs over it. For a moment, he hung there in that ridiculous posed, before scrabbling with his hindlegs and hauling himself up.

((*punts puppy Jaxom into the Rp* xd ))

Tilting his head as the butterfly had flown upwards on a gentle breeze and loomed overhead, the brown and orange hued pup drew his vision back to Coheed and nodded his head. "He's above us," he replied as he glanced upwards towards the elusive monarch.

Jaxom's tail swayed to and fro with a soft motion, its orange tip attempting to lure any curious creature that roamed amongst the forest floor. With ears swiveling as they intook each sound that echoed and cut audibly through the air, he grinned as he caught a slight glimpse of Coheed as he hung in such a unique fashion.

When Coheed finally stumbled to all fours atop the log, Jaxom eased himself onto his stomach and rested his head upon his forepaws. He was both curious and sought a sense of a new adventure. The forests were a foreign land, brimming full of new discoveries that were awaiting to be unveiled by the curious wanderer.

Leaping down from the log, though with an ungraceful manner as he tumbled and rolled through the pathway of fallen leaves, Jaxom quickly regained his footing and yelped with excitement of a new idea.

"How about we go on an adventure! We can go anywhere and I'd like to explore the parts of the woods I haven't seen. Wait," he stalled for a second as he peered towards the teal pup with a slightly perplexed expression, "you haven't even told me your name yet."

Seating himself down upon the path, a smile crept across his maw. "My name is Jaxom. What's yours?"

"Mmph." Coheed flopped off the log, collecting his limbs under him and staring balefully up at the butterfly. Finally, he snorted and scratched behind one ear, pretending nonchalance. "Well, it's not like I wanted to catch a ragged old thing like that anyhow," he groused. "It'd probably be all...crunchy, and bitter, like the crickets." That's right, ladies and gentlemen, we have a bug-eating wolf with us tonight.

At length he finished his scratching, setting his paw down and canting his head at Jaxom. Those white-lined ears of his perked up, and he laughed a little as the other pup took a tumble off his perch. The idea they go exploring fell on receptive ears, though, and the teal pup all but bounced in place at the thought. "An adventure? Away from everyone else?"

He seemed to consider a moment, before running an excited circle around Jaxom, tail flagging behind him. "Yeah! We can go find a whole new place and hunt anything we want and and and be alphas and--" The idea that this other pup didn't know his name (and, much to his chagrin, the reverse was true) hauled him up short, and the teal wolfling sat smack down on his hindquarters.

"Oh. Uhm. I'm Coheed. Nice ta meetcha!" He extended a paw in a "shake" gesture, something he'd seen the two-leggers do. It seemed like a friendly way to go.

Jaxom grinned as he watched Coheed suddenly explode with thrill, running around in circles as the idea transformed into the twos next excursion. "We'll be the best hunters and rule the woods!" He exclaimed with an estatic bark.

At the mentioning that he was unsure of the teal pups name, he watched him sit down upon his hind quarters and extend one paw towards him. Jaxom was a bit baffled but as a smile crossed his maw he deciding to follow in Coheed's lead. The brown and orage hued pup outstretched his right paw and tapped it lightly against Coheed's, "Pleasure ta meet ya, Coheed!"

Dropping his paw down lightly, Jax peered over towards a light bathed trail, snaking through the unknown where, perhaps, the hunt and territory were prime for two mischevious "alpahs". Lifting himself to all fours, the brown and orange hued pup padded several steps towards the head of the trail. Looking back towards the teal pup, his tail swept with vigor as he was ready for a change of scenery and an adventure with a new friend.

"Ready, Coheed?" He commented with a grin as his paws grasped the ground beneath and dug his claws lightly into its surface.

Anticipation for what laid in wait swelled within his body as he could easily picture a secret place where rivers and stream were lively with silver, slimey things and the territory full of suitable things to hunt. He only hoped to find such a place that somewhere abounded within the woods and, perhaps, it was still undiscovered.

Coheed grinned a silly grin when Jaxom tapped his paw in response. See, it was a good way to introduce himself! "Jaxom. That's a good name. Nice to meet you, too!" His tail thumped out an irregular beat on the ground, signatory of his enthusiasm. It was always nice to meet new friends, especially ones that were up to going exploring with him. In fact...

Rule the woods? That was something Coheed could agree with, and he sprang back to his feet, dancing from paw to paw in glee. "Yeah! Everyone will know our names from one end of the woods to the other!" Now his tail was wagging hard enough that his entire back end shook, making him look slightly ridiculous and very excited. It ceased after a moment, as he plopped back down and scratched at his ear again.

By the time he finished, Jaxom had gotten up and started toward the trail. Coheed popped back to his feet and jogged after the gray-brown and orange wolf, panting happily. "I'm ready!" Pause. "Where are we gonna go, anyway? Just straight ahead?"

Wherever the path takes us," he grinned as he swept his vision towards the teal fusioned pup. With ears perked up and tail wagging with great zest, Jaxom peered down the trail with exhileretion. Either it was the feeling of the wind rushing past his fur, rippling across his body like that of a disturbed body of water, or the feeling of freedom that made his body yearn unceasingly for the thrill of an adventure time and time again.

"Let's go!" He suddenly exclaimed as he lunged into a full sprint as the surge of adventure coursed through his blood. Swiftly sweeping each paw upon the ground, Jaxom couldn't help but continiously look around at the unfamiliar sights and whiff lightly of the foregin, yet intriguing, smells that lingered within the air.

The woods were very different from the spacious plains and far mountain regions but the sensation of freedom was more lively and he embraced it whole heartedly. It was like nothing he'd ever know!

As his mind was engulfed with the fantasy of being a revered alpah as he swept through the woods, Jaxom tipped back his head, still allowing himself to see visibly, and solaced a high-pitched howl, though not as defined as an older males, in joy and with the unleashing of his countless emotions that swelled within his body. Yeilding its progress as it died off without accompanyment, the brown and orange pup laughed light-heartedly. "Come one Coheed, howl!"
