((Sure. Do you wanna start?))
((Sure thang.))
Learning how to hunt is a part of every pup's life in the wild--chasing rabbits into ditches and squirrels up trees, pouncing on lazy toads and making life miserable for any crows stupid enough to stay on the ground near them. Coheed was no exception to this...although, it seemed, back when the Great b***h was giving out the instincts of the Hunt to Her children, he was apparently off asleep under a log somewhere.
To be more precise, Coheed was chasing butterflies--some of the few woodland creatures every bit as colorful as he was. In this specific instance, it was a palm-sized Monarch that caught his interest, and he was doing everything in his puppy power to catch the thing. Which, more often than not, meant falling over on his back in a confusion of flailing paws after another near miss.
After one such of these, he rolled to his feet and shook enthusiastically, before baring his teeth at the buttefly. "I'll get you for this," he told it in a growl. "Just you wait!"
The butterfly flittered tauntingly, perching upon a fallen log just out of reach. Its orange wings flashed enticingly as it rested there. Coheed gathered himself to leap, and sprung--!
"OW!"
A family of partridges, afrighted, burst from cover at the tremendous bark of pain. Coheed dropped smack onto his haunches, pawing at his abused nose and feeling mighty sorry for himself.

Concealed within the brush as only the sharp eye could discern his carrot hued fur from the lively leaves, Jaxom onlooked the teal pup with a grin as he found his antics to be humorous. He tilted his head in curiosity. He'd never seen him within the realms of the woods before and perhaps he would actually find a friend.
It had been days since he'd last been reunited with his pack but, once again, he'd managed to stray away. There was adventure that lurked around every corner and turn within the woods and Jaxom would see to it that ever part was to be explored. But what fun would it be without having a friend tag along?
Slowly, he padded outside of his protected hideaway and casually strolled towards Coheed with a light-hearted smile. "What are you doing?" His ears perked up while his eyes drifted sight upon the looming butterfly.

The sudden appearance of another pup--one Coheed'd had the vague idea might be in the area, from the scent--gave the teal wolfling an excellent reason to stop feeling sorry about himself. He wuffed in startlement, putting his paw down and swivelling head and ears around to face the newcomer.
"Teaching the butterfly a lesson!" he said firmly. "I'm going to catch it, and when I do, it will be so sorry it ever messed with me!" He puffed his chest up, self-importantly, and gave a wag of his tail to emphasize the point.
The butterfly perched once more on the log, opening and closing its wings enticingly.

Glancing towards the Monarch as it descended towards the log, Jaxom drifted his gaze back towards the teal pup as his eyes gleamed with curiosity.
"Oh," he replied as he took several paces back in attempt to give him more room to proceed onward with the hunt. "They'd always said to be quiet and creep within the shadows for the kill." Lowering himself towards the ground, Jaxom shifted his eyes back and forth from pup to butterfly as he grew silent.
"Are you gonna go after it?" He whispered while keeping his vision between the two in anticipation.

Had he feathers, Coheed's would be ruffled at this juncture. But he did not, so he settled for a huff of breath out through his nose, and flopping into a parody of an adult's crouch. "I know how to hunt," he said, irritated--and a little unsure. The Monarch was right there--but he banged into the log last time, and...
It was the "are you gonna go for it?" that made up his mind. He grinned a cocky grin. "Yeah," he whispered back, and leapt again.
This time, he missed the log and butterfly entirely, soaring over it clearly and landing in something that crackled under his weight. "AAAAAAH!" Thump. "...ow."

After watching Coheed's last attempt, Jaxom simply sighed and gently laid his head upon his forepaws. His eyes were glued onto the teal pup, anxiously awaiting to see the outcome of the battle of pup against butterfly.
Just as the Coheed launched himself, the orange-brown pup leapt onto all fours as the objective seemed within reach. With the second attempt worse than the first, Jaxom winced at the sounds and drew his ears down. Shifting his weight to his back legs, he teetered towards the log and looked down towards the fallen pup.
"Do you need help?" He commented as he scrambled atop the log and made ready to offer what assistance he could provide.
