It had only been a few hours since they had laid together in the meadow. Kai had slipped into a small span of sleep there by her side, getting up later to eat. He grazed around her, an apple resting by her hoof.
The sun was almost gone from the darkening sky. Above them the sky was painted with a wide swath of black, tempered by red, orange, pink, and yellow. The Lady Moon was starting to rise, by now hovering on the branches of the forest. She would be swollen tonight. A bit larger then was usual. Her keepers were starting to dot the sky.
He raised his head from the grass, trying to seek out the North Star. The brightest of them all. Not yet it seemed.

The mare yawned and stretched, her hoof hitting an apple. She stared at it for a few moments before her stomach rumbled and she ate it up. Duskai blinked and looked around until she spotted Kai. Why was he there...? She blinked a few times before her mind registered the earlier events. She nodded once to herself and got up silently. " The moon is large... tonight," she said softly, looking up at it the moon.

"It is." Kai smiled at her. "It will be beautiful tonight." The stallion turned to her, nuzzling her shoulder. "Are you feeling better?"

The mare nodded with a small thanking smile. "Yes, I am. The nap did me good, as... did the apple. I thank you," said Duskai with a small bow of her head. She felt very safe with Kai, much safer than she ever had with any other male, foal or adult. Of course, aside from Taigi, Kai was the only other stallion she's come in contact with.
Though... the last time she'd seen Taigi, he'd been a foal. So he didn't truly count yet.
Duskai looked at Kai, for the first time noticing the feathers attached to his ear and leaned up a bit to nibble at them in question. " These are pretty Kai. Where did you... get them?"

He smiled at her words, then bent his head to let her nibble them more easily. "My human got them from another of her kind." The feathers and wrappings on his legs he loved. They seemed to help give him more flare. He was the plainest Soquili his human took care of.

Duskai nibbled on them for a moment, before her head seemed to start nuzzling his neck. She breathed in; he had such a nice scent... The mare felt very at peace, so much so it almost scared her. How could she be so calm around another Soquili? How could she speak without being repremanded?
It didn't make sense.
She suddenly stopped and broke the contact from him, though stayed very close nonetheless. Duskai directed her mind from it and looked back at the moon.

That felt good. So very, very good. Kai felt his lids drooping as he leaned into the nuzzling. Only to blink awake and stumble a little when she stopped. Why did she stop? The Stallion forced himself not to pout.
"Want to go for a walk?" He nipped at her shoulder gently.

Duskai looked up at him and smiled, nodding her head. "Sure... I'd love to, Kai," she said, resisting the urge to nuzzle him again. It felt so strange to her. Why was he not reprimanding her? Even if she spent a good amount of time with other Soquili, sooner or later they yelled at her. And why... why was she so calm?
Why did this feel different from all her other interactions with Soquili? Why?
