 Perched on the edge of a pool formed by the emptying of a relatively small waterfall, a sparkly Helix peered into the foaming water, her tail swishing lightly over the ground. Her head hung low, almost touching the water, and her paws were clinging to the bank to keep her from tumbling in. She seemed utterly fascinated by whatever she was studying so intently. If one crept further with care not to disturb her, they might hear her murmuring in a sing-songy voice...
'Hello there, little fishy. Why do you swim away? Come back and play with me little fishy! It's just you and me, so why should we be lonely? Or are you leaving me for the kelp? Just be careful, little one. The kelp may deceive you. Everyone knows that the kelp lies...anything to get you to trust it, you know.'

(and now to pick a personality for Kihar...)  It was a peacful area. The water was gentle, the fish were dozy and the wind was warm. But every day needed something to ruin it. Something that was running at high speed near the top of the shelf of rock. "TERANAMO!" Shouted a loud, female voice as something plummeted off the top of the water fall, sending a huge wave crashing over the edge of the pond, splashing Nova and scaring all the fish in many directions. Something pale and mocha coloured broke the surface of the water. It was a helix. She was laughing as she paddled the water. "Woo-eh!" she exclaimed as she paddled to the shore and shook herself off onto Nova. Then she paused and blinked. "Oh...OH! SORRY!" She laughed. "I didn't see you there! Perfect day for a swim, eh?"

Nova simply blinked at first, water dripping from her ears and nose...as well as pretty much the rest of her, as she was generally drenched. Finally, she tilted her head at the other female, not looking upset, only curious.
'Well, it rains a lot here, I knew...but I never knew it rained Helixes.'
This was said with utmost seriousness, with no trace of sarcasm. After a moment, Nova stood and shook out her fur, counter-soaking the other female.
'So, great Helix from the sky...do you come from the clouds, like the rest of the rain?' She tilted her head. 'I've always wondered what it would be like to nap on a cloud. Is it nice up there?' She smiled, thinking of her conversation with Kishan. To nap, wrapped up in a fluffy cloud...did it get any nicer than that? She couldn't think of how it could.

She sat down. "It only rains helixes once in a purple moon." she laughed, playing along as she shook the water, once more, back onto Nova.
"Of course I come from the clouds. Jumping off clouds, without wings, into tiny pools of water isn't dangerous at all." This she laughed at.
"Naw, I'm an earth helix. I just like to cannonball." she panted and sat down. Her red eyes were not unkind and she had a friendly smell about her. "I'm Kihartua. Its a mouthful, so just call me Kihar. If that's too much, just Kiki." She tipped her head in greeting. "Have you ever gone cannonballing, Mrs. Fancy pants?"

Even if Nova could have considered the concept of another Helix being dangerous, she wouldn't have with this one. She seemed too fun. Even if she was confusing.
'I've never seen a purple moon,' she started to muse quietly, but tuned back in when the other admitted to being an earth Helix like herself. Aw...so she hadn't napped on a cloud? How sad. Ah well, Nova would just have to find someone else to ask about it then.
''Kiki' is a cute name! But I think I can manage 'Kihar.',' she nodded, but looked confused at how she was addressed. 'But, my name isn't 'Ms. Fancy Pants.' You must have me confused with someone else. I'm Nova,' she said with a friendly grin. She wondered who this 'Ms. Fancy Pants' might be. Did she look like Nova? Maybe that's why the other got them confused! She'd like to meet her if so...it'd be neat to meet someone else who looked like her!

She laughed. "No, I just think your pelt is pretty. Nova's a nice name too." She padded around her. "Wanna go cannonballing, Nova? It feels like flying and then it feels like swimming. A fish, a bird and a helix all in one!" she turned and bounded away towards a sloping path. "Come on!"

'Oh! Then, thank you!' Still with no idea where the earlier name had come from, Nova shrugged it off and soon forgot it while grinning at the other.
This 'cannonballing' concept sounded interesting. Nova took off after the other female, pinging questions at her the whole way. 'Do you grow wings like a bird? Then fins like a fish? That'd be a funny looking creature, especially a Helix! Like, a fuzzy, feathery, fish!' The thought and the accompanying mental image caused Nova to giggle as she raced after the other up the slope.

Kihar laughed with the other helix. She enjoyed this wolf, regardless of her inability to recognize sarcasm or have any grip on relaity. "Nope. You just FEEL like a bird and a fish." she said, nearing the summit. "Ok. Here we are."
They had reached the top of the waterfall. "Now run right off the edge." she said.

'Ah well, it would have been fun to see is all,' Nova lamented, half-shrugging as they slowed at the top. She glanced towards the edge, then inched closer to glance down at the water far below.
'Err...you sure we don't need wings?' she hesitated, looking at the other with a nervous grin.

"Its hard the first time. But watch!" he backed up and ran, leaping off. In about two seconds, she was at the bottom, splashing once more into the water with a mighty "Look out belowwwww!"
She splashed and the fish scattered. She stood on the shore and shooked off, looking back up at her and panting. "Its easy! Just pretend you have wings!"

Pretend she had wings, huh? Alright...
Backstepping slowly, Nova tried to steel herself, then figured if Kiki could do it, so could she. She started bounding towards the edge, leaping into the air at the last second.
For a brief moment, she felt weightless...then she started to plummet. Remembering what Kihar had suggested, Nova started flapping her front paws uselessly in the air, as if they were wings. She was still flapping when she splashed loudly into the water. Sinking slowly towards the bottom, she pushed off a rock with her paws and headed up to break the surface again for a deep breath.
'Did I fly?' she asked, grinning, as she crawled out of the pool and shook off the excess water.

"You looked like you were flying!" Kihartua said with a flick of her tail. She pulled herself out of the water, shook off, and ran back up the small hill, leaping off once more. "Its fun, isn't it?" she laughed.

Nova shook, then bounded off panting for another go at it. 'Yep, sure is!' Grinning in a silly manner, she took another leap, flapping her paws in the air. 'I can flyyyyyyyyy!'
*SPLASH!*
After a bit, Nova flopped on the bank to rest a bit, grinning happily. 'So, you fly like a bird and swim like a fish. What else do you know how to do, Kiki?' Her tail swished and she was overjoyed to have made a new friend today who was so much fun.

Kiki shook herself free of water and laid down beside her friend. "i know how to dig like a mole and...given the right tree, i can climb trees like a p***y cat." she said, but she said it in a playful way.

Nova blinked a bit, tilting her head. 'You're...an awful lot of animals in there. You sure you're still a Helix? Not something else?' Still, she smiled, tail swishing behind her as she panted from all the exercise. She couldn't recall the last time she'd had this much fun.
Then again, she couldn't really recall that much from yesterday in general at the moment.
