Galleai didn't immediately see the dreamer when she entered into the dream. In her customary appearance as a large white cat with winged paws, she padded through what seemed an endless room.
The room was full of tall and low tables, and the tables were covered with boxes. Golden and silver and wooden and nickel. Galleai paused to sniff at one of the boxes on a lower table curiously. As soon as her little pink nose touched the cool metal, the box sprang open and began singing a silvery little tune. Soon, all the boxes began opening up like flowers, adding their own tones. It was a song she'd never heard before, but definitely not displeasing.
Galleai looked around. Where could the dreamer be?

Joshua walked down the hall, just following the music. It reminded him of something. He couldn't help following. He soon set eyes on a large, white cat. He smiled, he liked cats. The music stopped all at once. Josh looked around, realizing this wasn't part of the house.
"Kitty? Do you know where we are?" He asked, walking over to it. Maybe it could show him the way home. He'd heard stories about cats that did that. Or talked. He liked those stories. But before he could say another word, the room changed.

Galleai padded up to the boy and was about to answer him when the room shifted again. Now it was not so much a room as an ancient stone-and-hedge maze. The rock walls were massive, damp and overgrown with mosses and the hedges seemed to whisper secrets.
"I thought I did," Galleai said, twining between the boy's legs as cats were wont to do. "But now I'm not so sure." And then she became even more unsure as, yet again, the scenery shifted to something different.

The room disappeared all together and became a large field full of flowers. At the edge of the field, there was a castle, appearing to be frosted in snow. The castle seemed to be sparkling in the dim sunlight. Josh frowned, he'd heard of such a place before. But where? He couldn't remember. Maybe in one of the stories his parents had told him.
"Well, kitty," He told Galleai, "I think we're safe here. I know this place from somewhere." As the sun brightened, the flowers opened.

Galleai purred, happy to be in a safe dream, finally. She hummed a few bars of 'Somewhere over the rainbow' under her breath, then turned her dark eyes up to the little boy. "Lets go to the castle" she said, her tail tracing lazy designs in the air.

Joshua nodded, he wondered if there was a princess in the castle. Maybe he could save her! His Mommy had told him stories about princesses, and how they needed saving. "Do you think there's dragons? Nice ones?" He asked, looking around. He didn't see any. "Or maybe lions?" He liked lions. Since his mother had read the chronicles of Narnia to him, lions had been his favorite animal.
The two headed to the castle. It seemed like a friendly sort of place. Josh quickly realized that the snow wasn't what it appeared to be at all. "It's frosting!" He told the cat.

Galleai examined the castle, her eyes squinted. "Oh!" She said in delighted suprise. "The walls are marzipan, and the windows are sugar! Look!" She danced about on her kitty paws. "The whole castle is made from sweets!" This, Galleai decided, was a good dream.

Joshua smiled, "I wonder who lives here." He said. He guessed it wasn't polite to eat someone's house. "Someone nice, I think. No one mean could live in such a house." He knocked on the door.
A person in a sparkling gown answered.

Galleai wanted that gown. She wanted it with a fervent passion and decided that the very next time she was in somebody's dream, it would be wearing a gown just like that one. Sitting back on her haunches, she looked up at the sparkling person. "We are but poor travelers" She began. "We beg hospitality." She'd been in fairy tale dreams once or twice and imagined she had the hang of the lingo.
The person who had answered the door smiled and moved back to let them in. "That went well, I think." Galleai said to Joshua under her breath. Inside, the castle was even more breathtaking than the outside had been.

Josh was surprised when the lady moved to let them in. "It's beautiful." He said, looking around. The furniture was entirely made out of gingerbread, frosting and candy. He was getting hungry just looking at it. "Can you lead us to the princess?" He asked the lady.
The lady put a hand over her mouth and giggled. "Of course, follow me." She said, leading them down the hall.

"This is easy." Galleai muttered. It could be one of two things... either something really awful was going to happen, or this honestly was a good, beautiful dream and they would meet the princess and maybe have a little cake. She really hoped it was the cake one. Following along behind Joshua, she wove in and out of his legs as they walked.

The lady led them into a room. "I must ask, what is your business with the princess? Have you met her before? I don't recall her ever mentioning you." She said, looking at Joshua.
Joshua smiled up at the lady. ""We want to be friends!" He told her quickly. His mother had told him that princesses don't have very many friends, as they usually stay inside the castle grounds. That must be lonely.

Galleai was content to pad along beside them, taking in the remarkable rooms that they passed. Endless expanses of rich carpet and sparkling chandeliers. Huge fireplaces burning brightly. The sound and chatter of voices going about their business, though there was nobody else to be seen. It was an incredibly beautiful castle.
They reached a long stairway. "The princess is at the top of the tower." The lady informed them, gesturing at the turning, twisting steps. "Is she expecting you, or are you suprising her with your offer of friendship?"

Joshua frowned, maybe the princess was expecting them, and he didn't know it. "I think we're surprising her." He said. "But she needs friends. Mommy says princesses all need friends." He nodded as wisely as a toddler could.
The lady smiled kindly at the boy, and led them up the stairs. "I'm sure she'll be glad of your company." She said. "You're not from around here, are you?"

"We're from far, far away." Galleai explained. The woman smiled at the both of them and all of the sudden it appeared that they were at the top of the tower. The door was golden and pink and seemed made of sunshine and sugar.
"So pretty..." Galleai whispered as the shining woman swung the door open to allow the two entry.
