Hello everyone! ^_^ I know this might not be the best place for a thred like this but I wanted to find a place where I know most of the people and well this is the only guild I get on very often.

I vist two or three Renaissance Faires a year and also I wear costumes to Animefest and A-kon (This year I am also going to Animazement). Currently I have three diffrent costumes I can wear (and enough extra crap to pull together a 4th costume if I need too) however I wanted to start working on a new one.

So I thought it would be cool to get the help of everyone in the guild to help me make a main 4th costume. My three current main costumes are described below. I will add pictures soon.

1. The Chavalier: This costume has a blue theme to it. It has a pretty blue tunic with breeches along with a darker blue full cape. I wear a ring belt under the cape often with my rapier along with anything else i want on my belt. I wear my ankle high Renaissance boots with this costume. I wear my Chavalier hat with this costume razz (Was my first costume)

2. The Bard: This costume is a black and white (very easy to do since most things are black when it comes to accessories such as boots and belts) with pants that are black with white strips built into them (sorta hard to describe i will get a picture soon) with a white heavy cotton shirt and a black vest with a white around the collar. I wear a ring belt under the vest with a sword and my insterments. I often have my Viola or my Mandolin with this costume. I wear either my Chavalier hat or my Tri-corn hat depending.

3. The Pirate Captain: This is my newest costume, it has a beautifaul red pirate coat with baldric along with dark blue breeches that have a rose design in them like my coat. I wear a long white shirt under the coat along with a ring belt either on the inside or outside of the coat. I wear my long ankle high Renaissance boots with this costume as well as my Tri-corn hat.

Ideas and Discussion: Well along with any Discussion here a few a things to think about ^_^.
-I think of myself as a Histroy Buff so here is something for you. You can pick a date (and if you want a place) and I can tell you something interesting that happened on that date.
-Give me any ideas for a new costume, I wish to do one that I haven't done yet so any ideas would be helpful.
-Any costumes you have made in the past or any tips you have would be helpful.
-You can give ideas like what colors you think would be good or what type of costume would be good.
-Free cookies and food for everyone! and make sure to try and have fun!

I bought a costume from walmart for halloween, it is a queen elizabeth kinda dress...it is a very nice dress, it looks like it was hand made, although I got it from walmart and 2000 people in the U.S have that same costume..LOL

mine is kind of a red wine color, with gold accents.....it is very lovely

No dont its over done. Here is a site Click here!! that will help you with costume. Most of the shops are online. but you can find stores near you. Hopefully you have the means of transportation. Its a site for gothic people. But these links are for normal clothing stores. Some offer Renaissance outfits. You will have to browse around. You can try E-Bay If you want to shope online. You can try to find local shops. YOu can also look at hot Topic for acessories. There acessories are awesome depending on which hop topic you go to. I mean there are three hot topics near me. Each store is very different frome the next.

At the local good will has a awesome selection of cheap new costumes at a discount. So instead of paying 20 bucks for a custome you pay 10-15 bucks. FYI I live in Minnesota, USA.. So It may be different if you live in a different state.

I'm a historical seamstress, in my spare time - currently working on a dark ages germanic/saxon set of gowns with sideless surcote.

I say go with the bard, but instead of pants, wear black hosen with black and white slops (pumpkin pants)!

Edit: I made a super fast and crappy mouseydoodle for you to illustrate what I mean:

Get yourself a black vest/jerkin, wear it with the white shirt, black hose, and black and white slops.

thats a cool drawing ^_^ but you sorta misunderstood what I wrote, the bard is a costume I already have but at one point I was going to do a costume like you were talking about.

i love halloween, though i tend to be famous people--Janis Joplin, Kevin Smith, Harpo Marx, etc. i really want to sit down and MAKE a real costume again (last year i was Link whee ).

i think it would be neat to do a 20's theme, with a zoot suit and all. or something more exotic/non-european: mongol warlord, Russian sailor, an Indian rajah. that would be awesome! 3nodding

What I meant was just wear what you've got for the bardic costume, but with the slops instead of the pants - I just drew the top half to make the guy whole.

I do also like the Pirate Captain one, and I'm a pirate this year as well. I think there's going to be lots of pirates, though.

I have to create a costume for a 'medieval' innkeeper' to fit a character I play in a presentation on Chacer's CAnterbury Tales.
I get to be a middle-aged man, wide in the girth, and who was obsessed with sexuality and most likely ran a prostitution ring inside his inn.
xp
But my costume is cool so... heh... you win some, you lose some right?
I will try to get some pictures....

Well, I'd say go for a 14th century Scottish outfit. Highlands or Lowlands. Hey, or you could go for being a visigoth. Something barbaric would round out the selections you have and give you a bit of a less civil side that would go over nicely in contrast to the other outfits.
