Post your Gman theories here (The Gman is not Gordan from the future be quiet).

I think the Gman is a 'sinister inter dimensional bureaucrat' (direct quote from valve). Which means to me, the the Gman is part of some race or alliance, that either takes over other races for a profit, or steals alien technology for a profit. If you've ever read the books Signal to Noise, and A Signal Shattered, then I believe the Gman to be a lot like the character Wheeler. Who contacts new civilizations on behalf of his 'employers', trades (or rather steals) technology, and then destroys the world. Although I believe that the combine are in the Gmans way, and he needs Gordan to fight them off or destroy them so he can and his 'employers' can reap the benefits.

These similarities are fairly uncanny, and it's funny because the author of these books is Eric Nylund, who wrote the story bible for Halo and several of the books related to it. Completely opposite. XD

I'm not sure what to say about him, since I have no clue why he's even there. But I do wait to see what's up with him.

One thing I do know though is that he has a big problem with the Vortigaunts. Those creatures who call Gordon Freeman, "The Freeman" and they saved Alyx. We know from Episode One, in the beginning, that the Gman was about to move onto his next step with Gordon, but suddently those Vortigaunts came out of no where, entering the Gman's "world." From the looks of him, he didn't expect it, nor did he like it. He's either just pissed with the Vortigaunts or he's afraid. I dunno.

Well from what it seems, they where only able to tide the Gman back. Because if they could, I'm sure they would have killed him.

He was in Half Life a lot too, in random places he would be watching you. He was also invincible though. Seeing as how I never got around to finishing half life I don't know what he does at the end.

He talks to you and then offers you a job or something like that. Then he puts you in stasis.

I...God, I don't know, he's such a mysterious character. And not mysterious like "brooding rogue who shows up once in a while to help the hero while systematically uncovering hsi dark, tragic past". Mysterious like "OH MY GOD WHAT ARE YOU DOING AAARGH".

Dude freaks me out. He's awesome. But what he is? I can't tell you. Though that theory was fairly interesting. I haven't even decided whether he's good or bad yet. Maybe he has good intentions, but generally just kind of acts like a douche to get what he wants? I dunno.

I think he comes from a neutral perspective, and it's just luck that he has a problem with the combine as well. I also believe that he is not in charge. He seems to only be a messenger for whoever is in charge, and checks up on you occasionally.

I'm with you on the neutral thing, but I do think he's in charge of whatever his operation is. Because in half Life, he did have direct control over things. I don't think he's the head honcho though.

There's still another possibility, albeit less likely, that he's some sort of metahuman and the US government is still around somewhere. Maybe the government was actually controlled by the aliens in my theory or whatever. But in Half Life 1 when he takes your weapons he says that they are 'government property anyways'. So unless he was putting you on he's somehow apart of the US gov. he was also in contact with Breen somehow, and I'm beginning to think that Breen was trying to eventually overthrow the combine, or at least put power back in the human's hands.
The Gman refers to him as 'certain naysayers', he could be talking about Breen specifically, or several other unknown people.

*nod* Yep. Though, I do think he answers to something, he does have his own agenda (ie. saving Alyx), but for what...we'll just have to find out ;D

Captain: Yeah, I'm pretty sure he was talking about Breen...right as he said that a picture of him flashed, didn't it?

Yeah I think so. But I don't remember.

I'm pretty sure he did...

So his message to Eli through Alyx...what do you guys think of that? After reading through the HL Wiki (shut up I have no life) it seems people assume that Eli's death was G-man's orchestration, but it seemed to me like he was trying to warn him. Why would he go to all that trouble just for some theatrics? Not to mention, why he doesn't go up there himself. You think it's possible that he's afraid of the Advisors? With their ******** powers I imagine they'd be quite formidable against him.
PostPosted: Sat Mar 07, 2009 4:35 pm

I don't think the Gman orchestrated his death, but I think he knew that the advisors would attack the base.

As I said, I don't think the Gman and the combine are on the same side.

So do I, but there's not that much more to discuss, other than that weird quantum leap door he went through (not that I think it holds that much significance). I guess we'll just have to wait until Episode 3 to find out more.
