Honestly whats up with these guys why do they feel the need to prance around as dante, sailor moon, what have you. We all love these characters some of us more than others.Yet you dont see us doing the same thing, honestly its just a bunch of nerds rapped up in the whole Japanese style of going big or not going at all.

then thats when people hit Michael Jackson status dude you know me I pretty much love anime and gaming but you've never seen me get that crazy not much i can about other people we know Bethany and Clayton (friends from school). What im saying is pretty much repeating the first statement some people are fans and others are fanatics and there is a difference between the two

Both sides here make up great points. And as you who are my friends know, I am very impartial to many rants and conversations. I like to pick out the facts and see how it plays out. I myself am a great fan of anime and games, but just as Bright said, I would not dress up, at least without a good deal of talking into it. But then again, that is just me, and that may just be the difference between fans and fanatics. Though Arrven also makes some great points. Halloween truly is nothing more than a giant cosplay convention over the world, but its in commemoration with a holiday. So does this really change the facts and make it OK to do it? I think Brights next point would be that its a one-day-a-year event and that should be enough to "escape" our lives, where I do agree that it should be sufficient. On the other hand, the FACT that the whole world is doing it may just defeat the purpose of escaping your life if your not really escaping it due to the fact that its normal to cosplay.
I think that the whole Idea to cosplaying is A) yes to escape reality, and B) to share their new reality with other cosplayer to ideally create their own "new" reality. And if everyone is cosplaying (halloween), then it just flat out defeats the purpose. There are many convoluted reasons to cosplay and I am sure that I barely scratched the surface in defining what it really is. I look foreeward to seeing how far this rant topic will go and how many more reasons for cosplaying are found and whether or not is it unanimously accepted or not. I myself, like I have previously stated am completely impartial to this concept.
