The day had been abnormally quiet, no passing travellers, no passing theives, and Valin had not ventured out into any part of the nearby city for days. She didn't even know which city it was. Her wanderings had once again led her somewhere, but where that somewhere was she had no clue. Her mists swirled questioningly about her ankles, the lack of people causing Valin to drop her guard, at least a little.
Her mists were near and ready to come to her call, but for the moment they were free to wander about as she did, exploring different crags and crannies of this stretch of shore. Not finding anything, they ventured further out into the Glimmersea. She had to keep an eye on them, lest they begin to dance about the way they usually did when she had a song on her mind.
It actually wasn't a song she knew, just one that she had heard in the port on her last visit to the city. Her current search was for its music sheet. Not many that she knew of could read the scores of dots and lines, and it had taken her a while to do so herself. But once she had she found a whole knew way to connect with her power. To connect her power to herself and use it to her greatest advantage. As of yet, though, she only had one song that she had not made up herself, and though the Moldau was beautiful and she could sing it many different ways and make many different melodies from it, it was still the same song.
What she needed was something new, and something that rang with a similiar emotion so as to let her experiment with how it differed it contributing to her power than the Moldau. After that she could find a song with a different emotion, one she was uncertain exactly to the feel of and could figure out how it worked. For now she could only listen to snatches of the melody she had heard in her head, her eyes gazing up at the ceiling of the Glimmersea as she walked without paying much attention to where her mists and her feet were taking her.

How she disliked traveling. It seemed to be a waist of her time in order to get done what she needed to be done. But then again, it was the thrill of the hunt. And the hunter? Why it was Shrilyn, the deadly archer. And what was she hunting? Well that was for her to know and for the victim to find out. She smiled softly to herself as she walked and thought of her prey. Oh how she had waited for this hunt for many decades. She needed to get home and Glimmersea was the perfect spot to set out from. She also had to go the long way to avoid any detection by people who actually knew her. The less people that knew her the better.
But for now the female drow walked slowly, looking over this place. It was interesting to say the least. It provided good caravans to travel with, those that didn't ask too many questions and let money speak for them. It was a good place to be for the time. Waiting was something she knew very well, as an archer must always wait for just the right shot. She was also looking for good spots were she may have to lay low after her hunt. Never hurts to be prepared and the perfectionist archer always wanted to be prepared.
The bow she used was slung along her back while the quiver hid her deadly arsenal. Each arrow was completely custom, made by her youngest brother. He was one of the few of her house worth dealing with due to his excellent skill. As she walked, she thought over a conversation she was a part of a few weeks ago with a young priestess from her home town. Already she was laying down a plan in her mind for what needed to be done.

Valin's mind was still wandering when her mists detected another Drow not too far off. Not wanting her peaceful stroll to be disturbed, Valin frowned and sent more of her mists to observe the other Drow. An archer, by the long peice of wood and string her mists felt, not much clothing to work with in case Valin had need to face hostilities with the other row, but they were female. Female was good, Valin thought, it meant they were unlikely to cause Valin trouble and would probably ignore her as she would ignore them.
The fact that the other used a bow was also good in Valin's mind, it meant they were unlikely to be a theif or cutthroat since a bow woul dmost likely prove cumbersome to those professions. She let out a sigh; either way her walk was going to be interupted. Unless she decided to try another course. But she had already begun on this one and was loathe to have to change her decision for the cause of another, which was odd because her mother had taught her better than that.
She supposed she had grown so calm about the peace she was receiving for once that it made her extremely unhappy to have it ruined so quickly. The other Drow was getting closer, so Valin merely shrugged her shoulders and focused her eyes to look directly ahead of her and down, as if to throw of the attention of the other when they eventually met. Though they could be the kind who would enjoy flaunting their status over a female lower than themselves. It would be useless of them, of course, since Valin could care about a fish's arse more than she cared about status, but just the same the action would be annoying.
I really shouldn't assume all encounters to be bad, she scolded herself, remembering her stay at an inn with a Drow similar to herself. He was male, even though that was another thing Valin didn't care about, and his mother had seemed very similar to Valin's own. He had learned her lessons better than Valin had learned from her own mother, but that was beside the point. The point was she really shouldn't be making the situation out to be bad when it was nothing as of yet. Maybe if she was lucky it would remain as nothing. Unfortunately, Valin was rarely lucky.

Shrilyn was still considering her plans when she noticed the strange mist that seemed to be forming. She didn't like this, it wasn't natural. But the warrior kept her keen senses peeled for whatever it planned on doing. So far it didn't seem to be doing anything. She could tell this was magical mist merely by it's feel. But she couldn't tell the source just yet. It felt along her body, her weapon, and behind her. So, it was sizing her up. Well whatever was controling it had better not start a fight, for it would be bound to lose. This place was known for it's rogues and wandering theives so she kept her hands loose and ready to draw her weapon incase she needed.
As she walked around the corner she was greeted with the sight of the person most likely responsible for the mist. A female and given her current state one trying to keep away from her. Due to the mist control she must be a sorceress or an enchantress. But what she doing back here? She looked quite too well dressed to be walking this alley. However Shri was still rather angry that the female had used her mists to examine her. Perhaps she was merely being cautious but she should know better than to be in this alley if she wasn't prepared to fight. She stopped right infront of her. "You should keep your mist to yourself. It's not nice to feel other people up."

Valin let out a sigh at the other's words, dropping her guise of avoidance to stand up straight and look the other plainly in the eyes. "It may not be nice but in this world it is necessary," she replied, "I merely desired to know whether it would be a wise decision or not to continue upon the path I had chosen."
Obviously it was not the right choice, Valin added in her mind. Her doe eyes locked into the other's, her voice preparing to launch into a commanding version of the Moldau meant to keep her opponent frozen in position while her mists roiled about her. She would rather avoid a fight, and it was a little more difficult when she did not have clothing of some sort for her mists to soak and hinder her opponent's movement, but that was not the only means of defense she had.
It was proving true that this stretch of the Glimmersea wasn't the best to be caught unawares on, but Valin would not have tried to venture along it if she was unprepared for a disagreement of some sort. Her mists drew back towards her from the reaches of the Glimmersea that they had been meandering to. They began to surround Valin and the other Drow, ready to block the sight of Valin from the other as soon as her song had taken effect or been proven ineffective.
Of course, that was all depending on if Valin would have to use her song. She hoped that the other Drow was not one who enjoyed getting into fights, and she had only built up her mists arround them to possibly dissuade violent action. They was there to say she did not wish to cause conflict but was prepared for it if the other so chose to engage in it. Yet another thing Valin could only hope had gotten across with what it had intended and not simply provoked the other Drow further instead.
