Peke Na - Introduction // An Elfquest inspired pack concept!

The concept below has been adapted from and based on the amazing World of Two Moons, or more specifically Elfquest, by Wendy Pini. Specifically this pack is based on the Wolfriders with very slight influence from the Sunfolk of Sorrow's End. You can read up on Elfquest at it's official website, the comics are hosted for free by the creators. Be sure to show your support, it's a beautiful series and a very imaginative concept!

There is a rough concept in the works for the Gliders clan as well (To be owned by Lithia_Brandon, concept help from Tahja), but if you're an Elfquest fan and are interested in running a pack/pride/coalition of your own, please PM me! I'd love to work out some more groups to adapt from the World of Two Moons. :3

Peke Na - Introduction // The Time line

This pack's timeline picks up around the time immediately following Wisdomchaser becoming the new Chief. Read on for further details!

It should be noted that this pack will probably end up having to relocate and start fresh somewhere new due to plot developments. Where is not yet decided, and it might not be for some time, but it will more than likely happen. For simplicity's sake the pack's new location will be the one marked on the map to avoid confusion later when they do move.

Peke Na - History // The Beginning

User Image

In the world of Africa's animal kingdom humans are a taboo and often times seen as a threat or a nuisance to those of the four legged persuasion. While weak and harmless without their throwing sticks they are usually still avoided by most. However, years ago a wandering pack of wild dogs came by a human tribe, and their encounter would change that pack's future forever.

~o~O~o~

It so happened that this pack, whose original name has been lost over time, discovered the humans quite by accident. The humans camp was located in the open plains while the pack lived in the solitude and shadow of the neighboring forest. They never ventured past it's South-western border for they only knew that strange sounds and death waited there, but on the eve of a full moon one of the alpha's pups, waking in the middle of the night, was drawn by the sounds of the human tribe's ongoing celebration. Wandering away unnoticed they stumbled into the human's circle but instead of being met with death they were welcomed with joy. The humans did not wish harm on their canine neighbors, but it took a child from the pack to see this without fear.

When morning came and the missing pup was discovered the pack followed his scent fearing the worst, straight to the human camp. What they found there shocked them. The humans were actually taking good care of their missing child, and upon the pack's arrival they simply let him go unharmed.

From that day onward a tentative bond had been formed that grew over time. The pack, now curious, would come to observe the humans from the edge of their forest borders, and as days turned to weeks they gradually became welcomed guests and expected visitors. Food was left for them, and they gradually befriended the two legged ones, even joining in their nightly dances around the fire, howling and crying out to the moon overhead with joy. They became protectors of the humans, looking after their own cubs as the humans had once looked after and protected their own pup. While still wild at heart, their friendship with the tribe had tamed them enough to understand their fur-less friends, and that's how the Peke Na was formed.

~o~O~o~

Peke Na - History // Full Moon; First Chief - Moongaze

For years the pack and the humans lived as one. However, the day eventually came when their peaceful existence was broken. Under heavy attack by a neighboring tribe (Driven by need) they were forced to eventually retreat with what survivors there were, journeying towards unexplored lands. As they traveled they discovered something terribly wrong with their human companions. They were dying at a steady rate. Sickness had been borne of famine in the invaders, and it had been passed on to the humans of their own unified pack now as well, though it did not affect the canines.

Forced to stop in the next best suitable place they found shelter at the base of a great tree in the center of a sparse forest. The middle tree offered the most shade in this land, the rest of the forest rather thin and the lands mostly dry and parched in the middle of it's dry season. The sky could be easily seen even through the thin canopy of trees, though not the large one. Here the tribe made camp to rest.

It was not easy. The days were long and scorching, neither human nor dog could dare leave the great tree's side at midday, and those that tried perished from heat exhaustion. Numbers dwindled from starvation and thirst and sickness until only a small handful of humans remained and seven of the wild dogs. The alpha's son, the very same who had discovered the humans on that first night, prone to wandering at night, then discovered their salvation under the guiding light of the full moon.

At night the lands were cool, and he was not the only one to notice. Wild hares and other creatures emerged from underground burrows at night. He immediately roused the pack and those that were able set to hunting for their young and their needing human friends. That night they celebrated in one of the clearings, setting a controlled blaze to cook their prizes and to dance and sing under the glowing moon one last time together. They had found their new home, and though it would be difficult they would be protected, safe. The great tree would blanket them and the moon overhead would guide them, and they would follow it's teachings. Sadly the humans were all seized by illness, and the pack gave them a burial deep, deep under the roots of the great tree that they now came to call the Father Tree. The pack, however, lived on.

When his mother and last remaining parent passed on it was that very same "pup" that took over leadership of the pack. His name was Moongaze (Mwezi-tazamo), for he took wisdom in the night and had brought the pack to prosperous times twice now. He showed them how to dig dens underground in the surrounding area on the Southwestern side of the Father Tree. They dug a larger passage to a small spring that they'd discovered by tracking their prey, and the land truly became their own. Under Moongaze's leadership the pack recovered it's numbers swiftly and adopted a nocturnal lifestyle to survive. The day was made for sleeping and they'd thrive at night. They adopted more than ever the way of living only in The Now and came to think of it as The Way. So it was that Moongaze became the first leader, the first Chief of the Peke Na, a title that would be passed down through all future generations of his line.

Peke Na - History // Crescent Moon; Ninth Chief - Shadowpaw

It so happened that the pack did very well in their new home. Though the rainy seasons did not always come the pack learned to adjust very well through quick thinking and combined effort over the generations. Eight chiefs had come and gone before it was time for Shadowpaw (Kivuli-kono) to lead. His mate, Morningstar (Asubui-nyota) had borne twelve pups to the pack and it was also a joyus time for that year the rains did come, just in time to revive the lands for it's new little lives. It was the largest litter and first rain that the pack had seen for several generations and there was much to celebrate. New blood had been accepted into the pack over the years to keep their lines fresh, and rogues were rare enough that they were not overrun. As the pups grew an heir was selected, and each revealed their talents in time. The youngest daughter and fifth child of Shadowpaw and Morningstar, a dark female with her mother's coat and her father's eyes, was looked to often for healing and wisdom, for she bore the marking of the Father Tree upon her forehead and seemed the most at one with their ways. Even her father would sometimes seek the counsel of her soothing words and calming mannerisms. In truth this female, Truthkeeper (Haki-mlindaji) was full of curiosity and an eagerness to learn, and to share the wealth of that understanding with any that would seek it. She enjoyed having long discussions with the elders of the pack and teaching the rogues that were accepted in their ways, but one day she met a rogue, a new member, who was not content to simply accept what she had to teach. He'd been struck by her beauty and intelligence and presented a challenge to her.

"What if". What if there was more to the world, more to life than simply living in "The Now"? She had not seen the things that he had seen and experienced the things that he had experienced. Just as she was eager to learn and share, he was eager to teach and show. The two seemed perfectly suited to one another and Truthkeeper was easily seduced by his mysterious promises, passion for life, and sincerity, and he by her willingness to accept and see new possibilities and simply everything that she was. It should have been a happy time for the pack, for such pure love was something that they celebrated, it was very unpleasant for Shadowpaw, however. He was a firm believer in tradition and did not like this boy filling his daughter's head with ridiculous notions that went against their very way of life. Tension mounted between the males, but always Truthkeeper's mate sought to make amends and peace, not war. He didn't wish to fight with her father, but he would not be pushed around either, and he and Truthkeeper were not alone in their thoughts.

Finally when no compromise could be reached it was decided that they should part ways for a time. Truthkeeper and her mate and those that wanted to follow left the pack to satisfy their curiosity, but Truthseeker promised that they would return. This was simply something that she felt they -had- to do. The pack sent them off with well wishes if not mixed feelings.

As they were away problems began to sprout within the pack. With Truthseeker gone there were mixed views that began to come to light, and on top of it all a sickness had made it's way to their lands. Prey fell victim first but soon that spread among the pack members. One by one they were claimed by the mysterious plague. Elsewhere Truthkeeper, her mate, and their band remained unfortunately unaware of their pack's struggles.

~o~O~o~

Peke Na - History // New Moon; Tenth Chief - Wisdomchaser

The traveling band had seen much of the world, discovered new medicines and foods, new creatures and places they'd been unable to imagine, and made the return trip home with more members than they had started with. Thrilled and bursting with new energy and excitement Truthkeeper was glad to return home to share what she had learned, but upon their arrival they were met with grim circumstances. The pack had been ravished by an invisible foe, and the only ones remaining were a small handful of followers and her father who too was facing his final days. Grief stricken Truthkeeper spent all of her time at her father's side in his and Morningstar's den. No one knew what was said between the two, as only hushed murmurs and sometimes soft sobs could be heard within the shadowed depths. Truthkeeper's mate, guilt-ridden, did all that he could to support the two while they sorted things and said their goodbyes. He brought them food, water, fresh bedding, and looked after the pack until at last Truthkeeper emerged from the shadows of her father's den one night, countenance heavy but determined.

They gave their chief a proper burial at the base of the Father Tree as they had for everyone before, and on the next full moon a howl was held in memory of Shadowpaw, Morningstar, and all those lost to the sickness. Even new members joined in the chorus. Come the next evening Truthkeeper revealed that Shadowpaw had named her the new chieftess, and she had donned a new name. From that day forward she would lead the Peke Na, and she would be known as Wisdomchaser (Hekima-mtafiti).

Peke Na - Territory // Geography - Where are they?

User Image

~o~O~o~

Peke Na - Territory // The Forest

If one can really call it such, the forest surrounding the Father Tree is sparse and doesn't provide much in the way of shade, but it houses the pack all the same. During the day one can usually only hear birds, and prey is very difficult to come by, but at night it's alive with those that have learned to come out when it's cool. The pack build's it's dens in the ground in various clearings throughout the forest, and there's a large clearing surrounding the Father Tree.

User Image

The Father Tree itself is a mysterious entity indeed. Despite the lack of rain it's always in full bloom, this is because it has roots that reach deep into the ground to an underground spring (Which is also where the pack does most of it's drinking and swimming). It's survived for years, and is massive in size. None in the pack's history have ever seriously questioned this or the cavernous chambers leading to the spring underground, but those with an active imagination have often suggested that it seemed as if it was purposely made that way for someone. None truly realize just how right they are.

Peke Na - Beliefs // The Way: Only Now

The pack's beliefs are simple. Live only in The Now and don't let the past or the future blind you from preserving The Way. This is especially crucial for the Chief or Chieftess to uphold, they should always remember to live for the pack, their pack mates, and put their needs above all else. So while at first thought you might think that The Way means that the pack are a lot of wild hooligans that act recklessly without regard for consequence, but this belief is not literal and that could not be farther from the truth. There is a great difference between acting recklessly in the moment at every given chance and living in the moment. They learn from the past mistakes, they cherish the memories of loved ones gone, but they do not let past grievances weigh on their hearts (Most of the time) and they do not let the possibilities of Tomorrow distract them from the needs of Today.

Note: It should be noted that when Wisdomchaser takes over the pack there will be some changes ranging from small to moderate. The basic principle of the pack will remain the same and intact, but those that aren't 100% glued in their ways will help the pack become more flexible overall. No matter what, each dog has the freedom of choice to stay with the pack or to leave to pursue their own paths as long as they have a good reason for doing so.

~o~O~o~

Peke Na - Beliefs // Dance: The Howl

The pack has celebration for several events in life. The birth of new pups, the death of a pack mate, the coming of a long awaited rainy season, a successful group hunt, group story telling, and the bond of Recognition. The Howl is almost always held on the night of a full moon or in one of the days closest to it, even if it means celebrating several events in the same Howl. The only time a Howl is not held near or on a Full Moon is when the need for one (Such as for the death of a pack mate or the birth of a litter, or the coming of the rains) falls in a time away from the full moon.

During the Howl the pack joins in howling to the night sky and in dance, however there are also Howls held simply to hold Howls and not always just for special occasions. Welcoming new pack mates, telling stories, it's a way for the pack to reaffirm it's bond and sometimes as a way to honor their chief and the ones that have come before. (It will be assumed that all are present for the monthly Howl unless there is an RP/IC reasons for their absence.)

~o~O~o~

Peke Na - Beliefs // Blood of Ten Chiefs

Since Moongaze the pack has kept count of each Chief then and thereafter. Some nights at the Howl they'll recount the names of each leader leading to the current, a drop of blood spilt by the current Chief or Chieftess for each name chanted to honor their memory, the "Blood of __ Chiefs". This is so that they will always remember their heritage and keepers and protectors of the pack and The Way, and thus The Way itself. There is usually only one leader at a time, but in some cases the mate of the Chief or Chieftess is considered just as much a leader as their mate, and can be looked to for leadership. However, when the time comes the next Chief must always be of Chief's blood, and so if the Chief falls but their mate remains they're duty and focus is split between leading the pack and raising the heir to take over in their parent's paw steps.

Challenges can be made between offspring of the Chief, or by others in the pack to the Chief themselves if they feel that the Chief is not best serving the pack or feel the Chief is no longer able. These fights are fights to the death, as the basic underlying attitude of the pack is to follow instinct and the law of the wild/nature. In the event that the challenger or Chief is not killed they will either be ousted/outcast, or usually in the case of the challenger losing, forced to admit submission. Challenges for Chieftain-ship are rare and very far and few between, though there have been instances in the past where the pack has lost members when no compromise or peace could be found between challenger and leader (Such as a difference of opinion when it comes to rogues, or other species. Preferences for different lands, a simple disagreement over the laws of the pack, or a failed challenge in which the loser had unwavering support from some members of the pack.).

As such, yes, this means that there are possibly fragmented versions of the Peke Na spread across Africa. In the world of Elfquest there are many, many, MANY different tribes of Elves in all corners of the world and so it's only logical to assume that the same is said for the Peke Na (SOA Adaptation). If anyone is interested in starting their own pack with roots/history beginning from this one please PM Tahja Estes to discuss!

~o~O~o~

Peke Na - Beliefs // Timmain: Guardian Mother

Something unknown to the pack until Wisdomchaser became Chieftess is that the pack has a patron goddess that looks after them. Her name is Timmain, the goddess of (Survival). Long ago Timmain took the form of a silver wolf over that of her lion form. Her domain being so vast she is well traveled, and chose this form based on creatures she encountered on another continent (Where she spent many years learning about creatures in this strange place before returning to her birth land.). Since then she has aged many lifetimes over and now bears a striking white coat. She has not appeared to the pack once in their long existence, but not unlike the Firekin she looks to them as her own, they are her creations (after a fashion), her children, and she looks after them with love and great care. They have changed since she first took to them. They existed, of course, before she came along but with her aide the pack has survived and adapted again and again, always unaware that some of the changes that they underwent were prompted by their guardian-mother.

The lands that the pack now inhabits was indeed made for them, and they were guided there secretly by Timmain's own paws. Wisdomchaser and their band have since learned of her existence through wisps of rumors and legends but none have ever seen proof that she is real, Wisdomchaser simply choses to believe it is so in her heart of hearts. One day they may get to meet the one that has protected them all these generations, but until then she simply has the pack's silent gratitude.

~o~O~o~

Peke Na - Beliefs // Recognition

Recognition is a special bond that is shared when two pack mates who are well suited to one another find love. It's believed that those that are well matched will have a higher chance of bearing pups, however this is just a pack belief and not actually yet proven but also not yet disproved.

Of course, pack members can have pups outside of recognition as well. Nothing says that they can't, and no one frowns upon it, in fact it's quite the opposite. Not all offspring are born out of love, some are born of necessity or nature's call.

It's also not uncommon for pack members to den with others, or even for some pack members to share mates. Threesomes are not unheard of, be they formed from the start or if someone is later added into a pair, and even some lifemates will den with others from time to time.

It's an unorthodox practice for outsiders (Or OOC'ly. ^_^; ), but the pack is family, and they don't question what instinct or their hearts tell them is right. That said, there's really no such thing as a forbidden relationship among the Peke Na, unless one side of a pairing has wished it as such.

~o~O~o~

Peke Na - Beliefs // Naming and Name changes

You've probably noticed by now that pack members names are a little bit different than most. They often consist of two words, usually a noun, adjective, and/or verb in any combination, such as Moongaze (Noun - Verb), Morningstar (Noun - Noun), or Quickpaw (Adjective - Noun).

Pack members are named after traits or strengths or sometimes vices that they have. Someone that spends all their time gazing at the stars might have the name "Stargazer", or if they have knowledge or many different ideas about the heavens they might be named "Skywise". Names don't always have to be two words, they can be simple, such as "Cutter", "Swift", "Pike", "Ember", so on and so forth. What's important is that their names make sense. Rogues being accepted into the pack will be given new names when they're talent or personality is revealed so if you don't want your WD renamed consider carefully. Some of them will be given a name just because it sounds nice ("Leetah", "Shen-Shen", "Rayek", "Zhantee"), so that option is available as well, but majority of the pack will have traditional names.

Also, pack members -can- be given new names. When something changes in their lives (Injury/amputation, the development of a new skill, a change in mentality or maturity) they will usually be renamed. This is generally a very casual thing and new names can even be decided in the middle of a conversation. ("Well now that you're missing a part of your ear I guess we'll have to start calling you Patch, eh?" For example.)

If you're unsure of a name idea simply pop in with it here and we'll let you know!

Peke Na - Ranks // The Pecking Order of things

The pack follows the natural call of nature at the base of all they do. Their way of handling situations is much like that of a normal pack, and the only true formalities are their job system and their naming traditions. There are no sacrifices, no rituals (Aside from the Howl), no real laws, only a shared common knowledge and a sort of unspoken law and an unspoken code of honor that they all acknowledge.

When it comes to tasks and ranking within the pack it's breakdown is roughly the same. There's an alpha, and that alpha usually has a beta (Usually either a close friend or their mate), the gammas, and the youth. There are no Omegas in the Peke Na, however, no outcasts. All are treated as equals with respect. No one job is more important than the other, and even the Chief, though looked to for leadership and discipline as necessary, is mortal just the same as everyone else. The final decision is the Chief's, but as an unspoken "rule" they must heed their elders and major pack-life altering decisions are often met by a Council, a gathering of all adult pack members. Children and adolescents are also allowed to attend but generally are there to be seen rather than heard. It is not unheard of for the pack to decide based on a comment or input from the youth of the pack. There is wisdom to be found in innocence as well at times.

~o~O~o~

Peke Na - Ranks // The Tasks

The role of Chief is only ever held by one dog at a time. Though there may be an alpha pair only one of those two holds the power to make any final decisions. The Chief is responsible for the pack's well being and will at times solely shoulders the duty of scouting dangerous new developments and planning courses of action, though usually they conference with the other pack members or their elders. They bear the title "Blood of __ Chiefs" as a mark of the generations that have passed. Generations, also, are marked by the number of years a Chief leads rather than by pups born to the pack. The pack, then, though it has seen many, many litters, has currently only seen nine generations before it and is leading into it's tenth.

Aside from this, titles are actually very flexible. Those that hunt also guard and act as warriors when the time comes. The Chief hunts with the rest of the pack, as do the storytellers and the den makers. No one dog is ever locked into any one role unless they chose to be. There are many different ranks that one can hold, though for the sake of making life easier on the certists we'll have a set number available.

  • Tree Shaper - For dogs skilled in tending to plant life this task is for them. It is a very rare talent, and the pack is in need of it. The Tree shapers tasks range from creating traps for keeping intruders (Such as malicious humans or rival predators) out at the borders to den linings and ointments (nurturing grasses and bushes to grow) to creating protective dens for times when the pack venture out into the sun.

  • Healer - This skill is self explainatory. If a dog has a talent for healing others or working with medicinal herbs then this is the task for them. This also applies for those that show talent in midwifery.

  • Hunter - Another self explanatory title. This is the default rank assigned to anyone who does not have a talent or preference that lies elsewhere. The hunters are the guards and the warriors as well, they protect the pack with every bit of skill that they also use to hunt their prey.

  • Head Hunter - This is the only other title that holds any power aside from the Chief. They lead the hunt when the Chief is not present, though there may not always be a head hunter in cases where the Chief themselves attend each hunt. Usually this title is assigned to the Chief's second in command.

  • Tanner - The Peke Na survive their frigid nights with a little help. Because there are many of the pack that prefer to den in small groups the pack has adopted a tradition of collecting furs from their kills, but ONLY from their kills. The tanner is responsible for cleaning the pelts and preparing them for use in the dens. They also work with leathers if they can find it, however, this is a rare material for them to come by so there may usually only be one tanner that's skilled in working with it, a skill that's passed down to ensure it doesn't become a lost art.

  • Story teller - These are the teachers, nannies, and tale weavers. Though the pack overall are all welcome to tell tales at the Howls there is almost always one with a particular talent for keeping and weaving the stories of the pack's past, and they're usually called upon to entertain the pack at the monthly howl or to keep the children busy during the hunts.

  • Den digger - The den diggers are responsible for, of course, digging the dens. They may show a special proficiency for the task, and even serve the pack in other ways such as digging traps along with the Tree shapers, or storing food and tending to the underground spring.

  • Scout - The scouts serve more purpose than to simply look out for danger. They watch for prey and herds that may pass by the pack lands, as well as keeping a lookout for wandering pups or approaching rogues or humans. They have keen eyes and some are able to withstand the intense heat of the day (During which such scouting trips they inhabit the day-dens built by the tree shapers).

  • Finder - Also known as "Trackers", they excel in finding that or those which have been lost. They sometimes also help the hunters and scouts in following prey, predator, and rival movement. There usually aren't many, if any, finders in the group.

~o~O~o~

Peke Na - Ranks // Little Cousins: Familiars

Maned Wolves and Jackals are considered the "little cousins" to the Wild dogs, and are welcomed into the pack if they can be cooperative and mindful of the pack's ways. They are treated the same as regular pack members, though generally they'll only speak to the one they're bonded to. They follow the same naming standard, though their names tend to be inspired from traits more than anything else ("Choplicker", "Blackfell", "Nightrunner").

~o~O~o~

Peke Na - Ranks // Hyenas and Humans: Friend or Foe?

In the world of Elfquest the Elves have both Humans and Trolls to contend with, though both have proven that they can be friend or ally just as readily as they can be foe. For the Peke Na they have their trolls as well, and they're known as Hyenas.

Larger, cruder, more brutish and ruthless, these scavengers are considered a threat to the pack, though Wisdomchaser has seen for herself that not all Hyenas are as the rivaling pack that the Peke Na has had to contend with for so many generations. This, and future developments will help the pack to devise a tentative alliance with their rough neighbors. They will, however, forever be leery of the Hyenas as they also are of the humans.

The humans of the current times are nothing like the tribe that the pack originally befriended. They hunt the wild dogs, seek to tame them by harsh means rather than through kindness, but often they hunt them for sport and use their pelts and bones to make adornments for themselves. These humans are pale faced hunters, not the kind natives that the Peke Na had come to know. In the past there was Mantricker who seemed to be able to contend with the uppity two leggers, but that was generations ago and Wisdomchaser will have none of it. Under her leadership they are to be avoided at ALL costs. The pack's existence must remain a well guarded secret from the humans for as long as possible, and disobedience of this rule will be met with sharp punishment, as it could mean the endangerment and necessary relocation of the entire pack.

STATUS: Surviving Member
RANK: Chief/Chieftess

Cert Name: Hekima-mtafiti
Translation: Wisdomchaser
Owner: Tahja Estes
Species: Wild Dog
Gender: Female
Age: Adult
Lifemate: Risktaker
Parents: Shadowpaw x Morningstar
Offspring: n/a
Description: Wisdomchaser is known for her long lasting patience and soft spoken mannerisms. She's the kind to give and give without question for the safety and well being of her packmates. She's not to be mistaken for a weakling or to lack backbone. When the time comes to defend her home she fights with the ferocity of any mother defending her pups, and the pack is as much her litter as if she'd birthed them all herself. If the need should ever arise she will be at the head of the pack to lead them into battle, but until then she is glad to lead them in a peaceful time as they recover from the devastation of the their large losses.

He believes in the Way wholeheartedly, living for today not only for himself, but for those he loves. He thrills in hunting, playing, talking, listening and just learning. He is youthful and intelligent, and tries to approach things reasonably. It is hard to make happen, but his temper does flare when he is forced into a corner.

STATUS: Surviving member
RANK: Tanner

Cert Name: Fulumi-rani
Translation: Blackbird
Owner: Kaimi Kalani
Species: Wild dog
Gender: Male
Age: Adult
Lifemate: N/A
Parents: N/A
Offspring: N/A
Description: Blackbird is a kind, humble dog. He's quite but not shy, while able to develop a strong conversation with another individual he doesn't always seek out socialization. He adores pups and attempts his best at caring for each member as a brother and sister as well as he can. With the same amount of respect and pride for his fellow wild dogs he has always been a pack-dog at heart. I guess the best way to put it, he acts as though he was a grandfather figure with a little spunk.

He has a sharp tongue and a way of talking people into things, a talent his sister and closest friend shared with him. Her resent death, due to an accident on a hunting trip, has left him distraught, and while he mourns and begins getting accustomed to her absence, seems reduced to half the wild dog he was before.

Lady Mercy
STATUS: Surviving member
RANK: Hunter

Cert Name: Ala-kaneya
Translation: DreamBerry
Owner: Lady Mercy
Species: Wild dog
Gender: Female
Age: Adult
Lifemate: n/a
Parents: Iritan x Diomi
Offspring: n/a
Description: Growing up this girl was named Leaping Waters after the springs below the Father Tree but she soon proved she needed a name just a bit more intoxicating than that! She's a strong and intense female who delights in four things - the berries she's named for, the thrill of hunting, the danger of battle and the (*ahem*) pleasure of joining. She is quite the flirt and a loyal friend despite her heart being somewhat hardened by coming home from the journey led by Risktaker and Wisdomchaser to find so many pack members and her own family dead.

Something happened back when she was a cub, a tragic accident that left her parents dead. and she was left with a serious head injury and no one to care for her. Since nothing came to aid her, she took to believing she was invisible. The shadows were soothing, and she soon found a distaste for the sun. Gender: Female
Age: Juvenile
Lifemate: --
Parents: Damalis x Chiboa

Her outlook on the world is a positive one; she's not afraid to meet new creatures. Her family is very protective of her (especially her sister Kimoyo and brother Toma; the three travel and do anything and everything together). She doesn't want to impose on anyone; she hates being needy and dependent, though it's hard not to be. And Aji would much rather do things on her own, or with someone who will let her do her own thing: meaning, who will let her get hurt and mess up so she can learn from her experiences.

Description: Formally a member of the disbanded Mpinzani, TwoDog was called Kadogo there and was a very pack-loyal male. A hardworking guard and son of the pack's starting alphas he saw hardship after hardship and problem after problem come to the pack he loved. Though it broke his heart, "splitting him in two", wisely he's moved on with his family to find a new home...one where they can thrive and that he can dedicate himself to as he did before. Unusually fluffy but well suited to day-work and used to scouting/protecting a border. He argues with his mate quite a lot but adores her and their grown up pups.

This makes him a protective uncle over her own brood, despite the fact he's not that much older himself.
