So, if you didn't know, I'm on the wrestling team. Last Friday, I went to my first tournament, and got my a** kicked. Here's what happened:

I'm in the 87 K plus category. It means I wrestle EVERYONE over 87 K. I have no idea what the conversion into pounds is, but I'm only 1K over, and I weigh about 192 lbs. I'm the LIGHTEST in the weight class. My coach helped me come up with a strategy that would have worked against the other rookies, because I'm in the rookie skill class (It's my first year).

Problem was, there was a girl who was very experienced in my weight class, who lacked other girls of similar weight and skill, so they decided to put her in the Rookie class. She was my first match, of my first tournament. Ever.

She:
Broke a few fingers
Bruised my eye with a lovely head-butt
Combining my weight with hers, dropped about 500 lbs on my knee
And then rolled 500 lbs on my wrist
Practically punched the back of my neck into the ground on a half nelson
And basically kicked my rookie a**.

So, my coach says that I would do much better if I dropped weight and moved down to the top of a lower weight class, rather than stay at the bottom of the top class.
So, I have to lose about 15 pounds.... And I suck at losing weight. Help?

Ah, someone else trying to lower the numbers on the scale huh? I am myself, though more for appearance reasons and simply to become more healthy.

Alright, two things you NEVER wanna do. A) Starve yourself B) Vomit to lose weight.
Those are way bad for your health. Starving yourself, you become fragile and weak (not good for wrestling) and vomiting, the stomach acid coming up each time will burn a hole in your throat. Ow...

I myself am mainly eating 1/3 of what I used to. Not starving myself no. I'm not much of an active person, really, so for me I have to focus more on the diet rather than exercise. Still, I do 50 sit ups every night and a few stretches to help along. Maybe walk my dog every so often as well. Those small things help as well.

You, let's see.... You're in wrestling, so you probably wanna try to be active. Boost metabolism and what not. If you have practice that should help out a lot, and maybe practice at home too. That's both making you better in the sport as well as a bit of extra exercise. Take a walk around your neighborhood or something. Just small stuff. If you're unlike me and are a bit more active, you could do actual workouts; some push ups, sit ups, the works. Just make sure what you do is balanced so that you don't overwork one part of the body.

As far as diet goes, you still wanna eat. You especially. What you eat needs to be turned into muscle. So you still wanna eat a good variety. However, to lose weight, there are a couple of things you can cut down on. Meat, and grains/starches, and of course, sweets. Sweets is self explanatory. Not good for you, end of story. Meat you still definitely wanna eat, for the protein and what not. Grains can be cut down quite a bit. That's the one huge thing in a diet. If you eat a burger, try it without a bun, and maybe wrap it in lettuce or something to replace the bread if you need. Also, eat more vegetables and fruits.

If you're like me, and have a nack for eating and snacking, don't worry. Snacking isn't a bad thing, you just wanna keep it to a minimum. Reduce meal sizes as well. What helps a lot is drinking a big glass of water when you have a hunger craving.

These should help you shed a bit of extra weight. They've been helping me pretty well. I used to be close to 200 and I'm now at 180 and decreasing. Hope it helps ^^

(On a side note, you can do what I did at one point: Accidentally get the stomach flu. Lost 5 pounds doing that xD Not the best of ideas though)

Hey! Ember again! I got something different for you to try out.

A easy workout. Well, yea I would say it's easy, and definitely something different. Here's what you do:

Take a regular deck of playing cards and shuffle them well.
Draw one card
Depending on the number or character on the card, do that many sit-ups, push-ups, lunges, and jumping jacks.
Draw another card and repeat.
Once you have drawn five cards, pause, and count the total number of the cards. Hold a planks position for that many seconds.

Example:
I draw a Jack (Jacks=10, duh) so I do 10 sit-ups, 10 push-ups, 10 lunges, and 10 jumping jacks.
I draw another card. 4. Do the same.
At the end, the five cards I have are J, 4, 7, K, and Q. The total is 41, so I hold the plank position for 41 seconds.

I find this to be a cool workout because you don't know what you're going to get. So sometimes you might get an easy set, others may be difficult. It's a good way to mix things up a bit. Hope it helps ^^

That actually sounds pretty good... Seeing as I have a deck and no one else around who knows how to play baccarat! xd

My sister is trying to lose weight now too, and she have to drag me to the gym every time she has a day off. Just cut down sugar and carb, eat loyts of protein, and run a lot. O_O Also try not to set up your work out schedule to be the same every day, or your body will get used to it and become bulky with muscle instead unless that's what you want already. sweatdrop

I`ve come up with the master plan!

Everyday for wrestling we have to run laps. But at lunch time at my school, I walk around the school. (I`ve gotten up to 20 laps in a lunch) I walk because it`s easier on my knees and it still burns calories.

But every day I do:
200 sit-ups to each side, left and right (Totaling 400)
200-300 reps of lifting weights per arm. I recently moved up to 10lbs so I can gain a bit of muscle and burn that ugly tricep fat.
60 or so tricep dips, which also helps with that terrible underarm fat so many women seem to be troubled by.

I also try to fit in some pushups, but I kinda suck at them, and I refuse to do `Girly Pushups` because I have to do a few million before I feel any muscle tension.

I`ve been doing this for about a week and dieting for about 2 or 3, and I`ve lost about 3 pounds, but because I gained some muscle weight, I probably lost more in fat.

I suck at dieting. xp But, for some reason every girl in my school at one point or another comes up to me and asks me what a good diet is. They think that since I weigh 110lbs that I actually diet or something. blaugh

Seriously, all I do is eat whatever I feel like eating. (Which, coincidentally, is about 1/2 to 1/4 the amount a normal person does.) Though, It's mainly cause of my 'Tummy problem.' But, I've stopped telling the girls at my school about that 'cause then they get all excited saying, "If we get that stomach condition, we will get skinny and stay skinny forever, no matter how much we eat?! How can we get it?!"
That may be true...But you have to endure horrible pain for the rest of your life, there's nothing you can do to ease it, and you have to avoid citric acid as much as possible. (And I like oranges...)

Though, that training idea with the cards sounds fun. I'm not a strong person, but I've been trying to get stronger, so that may help. ^-^

Well, I dunno about exercise (but that card thing sounds fun--it'd be nice to do more with my cards than play Solitare), but I know a li'l something something about food.

First of all, you don't have to stop eating certain things. Crazy, right? Not really. It's all about portions! Yeah, yeah, I know what you're thinking. "She's going to tell me to starve myself!" Not really. See, it's better for your body if you eat smaller portions more times throughout the day instead of porking out twice a day.
Here's an example:

You have the choice between a hoagie and two normal sandwiches on normal old Wonder Bread. (Small sandwich bread, if you've no clue what I mean.)

Now, let's say you're NOT like me, and you simply cannot eat a whole hoagie in one go. Let's say that one sandwich fills you up (and if it actually does, I hate you >=P). Let's go on to say that you'd only need the equavalent of one hoagie to get by the day without feeling like you'd die of hunger. So that makes both options available.

Now, you can either take the hoagie or you can take the sandwiches. "She's gonna tell me the little sandwich is better!" No, I'm not. I'd say, take the damn hoagie, cut it up into quarters, and eat those all throughout the day (4 seperate "meals" wherin you do not stuff yourself silly every time) instead of filling yourself up twice a day with the two sandwiches, (one at breakfast and one at dinner).

Now, that's step #1. Step #2 is what you put your meals on. You know how they say you start eating with your eyes first and then your mouth? "They," whoever they are, are absolutely right. Presentation is, in fact, a huge factor of the dining experience. "Who cares," right? We're not fancy caterers looking to please our customers. We're not throwing a fancy, shmancy dinner party. Well, this practice can be applied for more than impressing strangers and friends alike.

See, when you have a burger on a, say, serving platter, it's gonna look pret-ty small on there. You're going to think it's less, whether you know it or not, so you eat more to compensate. Subconsciously. And if you don't have more, even if it was enough, you don't feel as though you got your money's worth. (There's actually a delightful series of optical illusions that show you what I mean.)

So, instead of putting that delicious, properly-proportioned food on a giant plate with lots of room for spreading out and picking things off and whatnot, what you should do is, take the same food and put it on a smaller plate. It'll look bigger and thus be more satisfying. I've done that very same thing before, actually--I took a little cake or something and put it both on a very big plate and a very small plate; guess which one was better? :3

Trust me... I know that I'm doing. ;P
I lost 20 pounds like this, combined with verrrrry slightly better eating habits (delicious steamed asparagus for breakfast instead of ramen, for example). And I did it fast and without exercise. whee

Very nice call.
I should do that.

Eat whole foods. Cut out anything made with white flour and/or sugar.

I don't know what your nutritional type is, but I do know that anyone can benefit from removing processed junk from their diets.

Strangely, the plate size vs. apparent portion thing works backwards with me. I actually feel like I have more food if the plate is bigger. xp

I have to disagree with L, though. Not that portions don't matter - I'm sure they do - but they are not the be-all-end-all of weight loss. Some of us actually do have to limit certain foods to keep our weight down. stare
