This thread is going to be a role play style thread for you to role play a masquerade ball. I hope you enjoy your time here, and have fun.

As you walk through the huge, double doors at the front of the mansion you arrived at, you see a well lit hall. A glass chandelier hangs in the middle, gold, green, red, an white crystals hang from it for festivities. Under that is a large, round white wood table. It has a small cover on it of green with gold embroideries. As you looked around the entrance hall, you let a butler take your jackets, shoals, hats and others that you wouldn't need to wear inside to a closet that seemed to be big enough to be another room. There are pictures on the wall that seem to move as you do, depicting battles, festivals, and other grand affairs. A grand stair case is in front of you, made of white marble. Four doorways are on the same floor as you, two in front of you, between the two stairways going up and one to your left, and one to your right. There are also four doors up the stairs, a pair of grand doors, white with gold and silver etchings, and then one to either side of it around the corners. Nothing was hanging on the same wall as the grand doors.

As you enter the door to your left, you see a great dining room. The colors also change. From the white look of the hall, to the dark colors of the dining room. A huge ebony dining table is centered in the room. The table could at least seat 50 people comfortably. The table runner is a dark red satin, or, at least what you could see of it under the dark bronze candelabras and plates that cover the entire table. Among the plate were hordes of food. From chicken, to beef, to corn and potatoes. Along the walls, cabinets stood, each shelf was filled with little trinkets lost to flow of time within their glass imprisonment. Candelabras on the table are the only source of light in the room, with their black flames that seem to amuse the other guests.

As you enter the door to your right, the hall opens up to an indoor garden area. All sorts of green fill the room and the aroma of all the flowers are intoxicating. As you walk deeper into the indoor jungle, bright flashes of color protrude from the bold hues of green. Red, yellow, white, blue, and other colors are shown with pristine and if someone arranged them to grow in such a manner. There are no deadly flowers amongst the foliage, and as you walk, butterflies pollinate the huge flowers. Of all colors, the butterflies flutter around, doing their business, but never leaving the room.

The two doors in front of you seem to be the kitchen, for the butlers and waiters walk in and out of these with easy and posture.

As you walk up the grand stairway, you find yourself staring at the grand doors. The silver and gold intertwine to bring out the delicate white colors of the door. As you try to open the doors, you see that they are fastened shut. It seems that no one is wanted into this room.... yet.

Upon reaching the top of the stairs, there are two other doors than the grand doors in front of you. As you enter the doors to your left, you walk into a room in a blue hue. The first thing your eye catches is the wall that is a full aquarium. The far wall is abundant with fishes, sea plants, and other animals from the deep. The tank has to be at least 50 feet long, 25 feet high, and about 20 feet deep. You can barely see a wall on the other side of the tank. As you start to look around on the other walls, you see pictures of other fishes, most likely extinct to this world now. The floor seems to cave as you walk, making it seem you are walking on soaked sand. Near the aquarium though, there is sand. As you look up though, you see the night sky. Aquarius seems to fill the whole roof, making the room feel even more soothing.

If you decide to go right at the top of the stairs, you walk into a room of reds, oranges, and yellows. The brightness of the hall is nothing compared to this one. Oddly enough though, the light from this room doesn't protrude out into the hall. Candles line the walls, as well as the metal tables along the walls and some dense wood chairs that accompany them. Some rare blacksmith is along the walls, from exotic blades to long pole arms. In the middle of the room, there is a rug that takes up most of the floor. A huge sun design has been woven into it, and heat radiates from it. Two huge chandeliers hang from the roof. A clear crystal one that exaggerated the flames that light it, and one of red and yellow hues that burn fiercely.

As you wonder back to the grand doors, and stare out over the hall, you see that many people are arriving from all the nations. Peasants, Soldiers, Middle-Class, and even Upper-Class mingling together. You get a good feeling from watching it. You still wonder what is behind the doors behind you, but you know that it will be revealed over time for some reason.

My Mask

She entered with high expectations. Every time she had come to one of the largest festivities of the year she was never disapointed with the elegance of it all. The decorations were breath taking and she immediately told herself that she would have to send a gift to whomever had thrown the whole thing together. It was more exciting that it had been in previous years. An electric thrill shot through her body at the thought. But for now, not many guests had arrived, and she could hardly contain herself to patiently wait for others to arrive.

My Mask

He entered into the mansion that the ball was being hosted at. It was big from the outside, but once inside, it seemed as if it got bigger. His jacket and hat was taken away swiftly, and he walked into the well lit entrance hall. He was never disappointed when the rich do parties like this, and he was luckily well known to be invited to these things. Of course, this one wasn't just for the well known, but for all of the populance of the world. Which was amazing.

He walked into a dark room to his left, food was prepared here, and he was slightly hungry, and he was glad he had choosen a half mask. He quickly grabbed a pastry, ate it, and sat down at one of the many chairs. Everyone would know what nation he was from, but that didn't matter. Tonight didn't matter about where you stood, this whole masquerade was for the exact opposite. Fun at a time that it was needed.

My Mask

She entered the Masquerade ball. It was very elegant and beautiful. She had never been to any places such like this. She considered it an honor to even be invited when she was only a lady. Soon, she decided to rome around and admire all the beautiful elegance of the ball since not much people have arrived yet. It was so overwhelming. She began to get hungry. Ignoring the feeling she just continued to admire everything.
After awhile she decided to try to find the food area. Trying to follow her nose, she came upon a girl in a cat like mask. She just stared at her for awhile then decided to ask where the food was. "Excuse me, where is the food located?" She asked quietly.

She raised her brows in slight surprise. Where was the food? Where it usually was. But perhaps this girl had never come to one of the grand balls before? Now it came down to whether or not she wanted to be kind to the poor girl. She decided to be kind. "Through there, take a right, up the stairs, then a left. I'll go with you. I am feeling rather parched right about now." She smiled warmly.

She felt quite embarrassed by her question since the lady seemed to think it was suprising that I even asked that question. Though, she waited patiently for a response. The silence was killing her so thankfully the lady finally said something. She smiled awkwardly and let out the air bottled up in her mouth, finally aware that she was holding her breath. "I'm such a dork..." She thought. She remembered to reply to the lady. "Thank you." Company would be nice. I knew where nothing was anyway. Atleast the lady's smile was warm.

Sai-Hong's Mask - - - L2's Mask

X{L2-007}X

Well, this certainly was a grand gathering. L2 smiled to herself and pulled her mask down over the bridge of her nose, making sure it was nice and secured. She glided through the gilded main doors and across the polished floor, her dress making a gentle shushing sound against the tiles. It was a simple confection the dress, nothing too elaborate, but eye-catching nonetheless. A combination of ivory and pale blue, it was light and pleasing to the sight, and seemed to flow out behind its wearer as though it were submerged under water. No designs decorated it, just a dusting of silver and gold glitter across the body and loose-fitting long sleeves. She'd liked it immensely; the tailor was a genius.

As she observed the other people and the ornate decorations in the ball room, L2's fingers strayed to her ever-present flute. Now one might find it strange that someone would bring a flute, of all things, with them to a masquerade ball. But she simply refused to leave it or have it out of her sight for longer than two seconds maximum. Besides, should something happen to the orchestra, there was one sure way of obtaining music. The long, metal instrument was strapped tightly to her left hip by a slim cobalt ribbon. It hung diagonally and the way she carried it might've made people second-guess as to whether or not it was actually a weapon in disguise. Humming softly to herself, the young woman continued her leisurely way across the spacious room, taking her time.

X{Sai-Hong Attachi}X

He hated balls; hell, he hated anything to do with dancing in general. So why was he there, standing in the middle of an immense dance floor, a gold mask strapped tightly to his face? The apothecary lad sighed and tugged at his collar - most disagreeable this suit was - wishing he was elsewhere. The only reason, that he would see of at least, for him coming to the masquerade was because he'd considered it a bit rude to pass up on an activity that everyone was obviously expected to participate in. 'Lucky Giselle; being a cat must be so much more relaxing than being human...' he thought bitterly. His cat was currently, back at home, no doubt enjoying a nice afternoon nap by the window. Another sigh issued forth from Sai-Hong's lips; there was no use complaining. Better to just make the best of everything and move on.

Artemis and her mask

Artemis walked through the large doors, smiling wildly at the vastness of the whole area. This was one of the good things that came with living up to her name as a Duchess. She sighed happily as she began to wander the many halls that ran through the area. Finding the scent of food, she followed it to a large eating area. She found it very dark, almost creepy. She almost jumped when she saw a man sitting in one of the chairs. She smiled at him in greeting and began searching for something to nibble on. Finding a bowl of berries, she sat near it and began to eat. She wasn't sure what else to do. The man in the room with her was the only person she had seen there yet. Maybe they're all wandering farther in. She thought to herself as she took a drink from a glass in front of her. It was a grand building after all.

Mel's Mask and Kel's mask

Kel entered the Ball Room while following her sister, Mel, She was stunned. It looked amazing, better than before. Being a Baroness along side Mel, she was used to these occassions but since she was only 7 years old, it didn't take much to stun her. She gently adjusted her mask and put on a smile. She strolled right to the food area with Mel. They both decided to be good today. Once Kel reached the food area she just started at it, pondering whether it would be okay to just stuff it in her face or if she should be a lady and use her manners. Two other people were there and she didn't want to make a fool of herself in front of them. They both seemed older than her. Everyone did, even Mel who was 5 minutes older than her. She sighed and waited for Mel's opinion.

Mel entered the Ball Room and gestured for Kel to follow her. Mel thought it looked pretty cool but she dismissed the thought. It was just another kind of ball. She wore a black mask while her sister wore white. It made sense since Mel had the more cruel mind and Kel was kinder. She was hungry along with Kel so they made their ways to the food area, only to find two other people there. She didn't care for manners so she decided to stuff her face. She tried to motion for Kel to join her but she seemed unsure, typical. Mel stopped chowing down and whipped her face. "You have to eat sometime." She muttured.

As they traveled through the halls and passed the archways where many were sipping their wine blissfully unaware of their surroundings, they finally made it to the grand dining room. Inside was a large table that seemed to stretch on for miles. Upon it was layed every delicacy and treat that you could ever possibly imagine. They ranged from frozen ice to caviar, summer melon from the lands of fire, to the rainbow colored fish from the eastern seas. This woman however chose to sample the strawberries, one of her favorite fruits. "Here we are." She said after she had finished her happy snack.

((Kutiel))

Strolling along at a leisurely pace, placing each foot neatly and quietly on the ground, Kutiel placed a single finger on his lip and tapped in anticipation. His mask appeared to be a blindfold made of pure ice. It mostly obscured his eyes, but the slight tint of Gold could still be seen behind it. He walked into the ball room, and walked over to the food. He plucked a single bit of food with a thin and pale finger, and tossed it lightly into his mouth, walking over to the wall and leaning against it as he prepared himself to spend a long night basically observing everyone else.

"Thank you very much." Zeffie said gladly to the lady who helped her. She bowed in appreciation and turned to the food. It looked so glorious, so delicious. She couldn't wait to seep her teeth into something. She was starving. Making her way towards the other side of the table, she picked up some kind of food she didn't reconize, she considered what it was then decided she didn't care aslong as it was food. Zeffie plopped it into her mouth. It was delicious. A smile spread across her lips as she savoured the moment. As she was doing so, she happened to see a man with a blindfold, clearly made of pure ice. She shivered, thinking how cold it must feel. Feeling rude, she quickly turned away from the man. "Bad manners." She muttered to herself. Although she knew she shouldn't, she stared at the man again from the corner of her eye. He looked bored, just leaning against the wall. Zeffie sighed and turned away, now concentrating on the wonderful food infront of her.

He only smiled, "Welcome." He said, he had finished what he wanted to eat and got up. He pushed in his chair, "I think we are going to have fun later during this party, This is going to last the whole mid-winter season, so be safe and have fun... I'm going to tour more of the mansion... want to accompany me?"
PostPosted: Tue Dec 30, 2008 11:51 am

"Delightful." She said happily as she plucked yet another strawberry up from the plate to plop it into her mouth. Wonder if there will be enough food to keep everyone from starving all season. She looked at the men and women who were just arriving hoping to see a familiar face. She gave up within minutes. Many of whom she used to know before the war had either died in it, or in the attacks on the city that had led to it. And for some reason, she felt a little twinge of guilt for them. I am alive, and they aren't. Her mood was starting to deteriorate. So she started looking for other things to think of.
