Kalani was wandering the borders. Life had for some reason just suddenly stood still. Everyone was getting on with their lives and the beta contests, well they had just been put on hold. Everyone seemed to be just trying to settle down and nothing dramatic had happened. Ola may have been wrong for a change.
He let out a sigh and continued to wander, he did this every day on the off chance that someone may appear. He still remembered the days when Ola told him to go find a mate but still he couldn't bring himself to leave. He had wandered away once and met a beautiful wolf, Twila. However she had wanted to continue to wander around. She had once been a beta of a pack that had fallen apart and he had always kicked himself for not staying with her. It was how life was. He had returned to find the pack pretty much as it was how he had left it and so he hadn't gone out again, much happier to stay and protect the pack he adored and loved.

 Twila hadn't really achieved much after her brief meeting with Kalani all those moons ago. She had never forgotten him either, nor his stories of a pack he seemed to have fallen in love with. He had been enchanting and if it wasn't for her dreams she would have happily followed him back to this pack. Instead she had left him, moved on and looked for something else. She tried wandering seeing where she would end up but it seemed that no matter where she went she always wanted to see Kalani again, he had been such a gentleman. He really was charming and she missed him. It was true, she really did miss him.
It had taken her ages to find the clearing she had met him in. He had given her directions from the clearing if she ever wished to meet again. She did now and so trying to recall what she said had followed his directions though she was sure she got lost many times, she picked up his scent. It was strong which meant she was sure she was close to the lands from which he had come from.
She hadn't dared go to close, just watched from a distance, not wanting to enter the packs territory unannounced. Some packs didn't welcome visitors and though she knew Kalani said she would be welcome she didn't want to risk it.
Today she had found a nice place to watch and it seemed today was her lucky day. Kalani. He was there wandering around looking sorry for himself. She was sure he had said that he was happy here so it confused her a little. She let herself smile, stood up and walked towards his dark form.
"Kalani!"

His ears pricked as he heard his name not quite sure whether or not it was worth turning around for as he didn't want to talk with any of the pack members at the moment but as it were he wasn't sure the voice was that familiar and out of politeness he turned around and then stopped and stared.
"Twila?"
He wasn't expecting to ever see her again let alone in front of him, by his own pack. He shook his head and then looked again. She was still there, he wasn't dreaming.
"Erm.. wow...er.. I wasn't expecting to see you."
He stuttered a little not really sure how to get it all out. Oh he was so happy to see her again, it had made his day that was for sure. Just looking at her now, it made him smile. She was so beautiful, so amazingly beautiful.

She smiled at his reaction pleased that she had startled him and she couldn't help but laugh as he shook his head. Was it really that hard to believe that she was standing in front of him? Well if it was she had no problem with it because she was here. She was happy to be here. Kalani looked so well and back to his normal self the minute the smile re-appeared on his maw.
"Yes it's me, silly who else?" She chuckled.
"I would be a little dissapointed if you had expected me to be here. Would have rather spoiled the surprise somewhat."
She couldn't help but smile as she watched him. He was always so polite and seemed to shy. He was wonderful and she cared for him very much. She had missed him. Their brief meeting had been brief at least to her, it had lasted several days in which they had got to know each other well. She really had missed his company.
"I missed you hanging around so I thought I would come and check on you. Make sure you hadn't got into any trouble."

Kalani watched and listened still half expecting to wake up from a wonderful dream. What if he was asleep and Ola caught him? Oh he hoped so much this was real for more then what Ola would do if he was caught sleeping while on guard.
"There isn't much trouble to get in while here." He smiled.
"I find it hard to believe you missed me though, I mean you seemed to complain about how I wasn't capable of living on my own and all of that." He smiled at the memory, he liked her complaining, she would do it in this way that would make her look even more beautiful.
"So are you only here to check on me? How was the exploring?"

"So I see." She chuckled.
"I did miss you and your lack of being able to do anything on your own... I mean your hunt was rather.... amusing and your excuse was even worse!" She laughed a little more. She seemed to have missed him more then she would allow herself to believe. Well she didn't have to go anywhere now. She was ready to give up exploring it was rather boring.
"The exploring wasn't really that great, to be honest I rather regret not coming here with you in the first place, which is why I am here now. I want to see the pack you love Kalani, I want to stay here with you." There she had said it, not quite how she had rehersed it in her head but it was good enough for now.

Kalani listened to the memory and went a little shy. It was a rubbish excuse, different hunting lands, but he had to say something! He was a good hunter really and he had shown that to her afterwards.
He then couldn't believe what he was hearing. She had actually come back for him? She wanted to stay? Really?
"You came back to stay with me? Why? You had set your heart on living free for the rest of your life, why come to the pack with our beliefs and everything. It won't be the same, it will be nothing like it. Not that I want you to go. It would make me the happiest wolf in the world to have you here but..." He let out a soft sigh.
"Will you be happy here?" He had to ask, he wouldn't take her to meet Ola and the Alphas without being sure. Though if she did now turn around and say no he was sure his heart may break in two.

Twila listened and just smiled. There he was being all caring and sweet and just wonderful. Why wouldn't any girl give up stuff to be with him. She had tried living her dream but after meeting Kalani and then letting him go it seemed so stupid, so silly and she wanted to be with him, not on her own.
"Kalani, I am sure. It was nothing after you left, I was nothing. I missed you and so I wish to be with you. That would make me happy and you too. I saw you moping about." She smiled, her tail wagging a little. She knew he wouldn't refuse her.
"Kalani I want to stay with you, like you had proposed before. I wish to live with you, in your pack. I wish to be yours." She smiled at him, her tail wagging a little more.
"I really did miss you."

Kalani just stared at her. She was accepting his proposal that she had originally turned down. His heart was racing. He could imainge Ola's face. Twila was beautiful, Ola would love her he was sure of it. Oh he was happy, so happy.
"I wasn't moping, I was thinking!" He chuckled.
"If you are sure, come with me. We can go and find Ola. She would love to meet you and will love you I am sure." He smiled at her, his chest felt as if it were about to burst. She was the reason he hadn't gone out looking for another female. He had always hoped and here she was accepting him, asking to stay with him. Could life get much better?

Twila smiled and rushed over to him, licking at his maw. She had missed his warm body next to hers when they slept and now she would be able to have it all over again. Then he mentioned Ola.
"Do you really think she will like me?" Ola, Kalani had talked about her a lot so much that to begin with Twila thought he was in love with her untill he explained their relationship. Ola was like a mother to him and so Twila was nervous about meeting her especially as she was one of the last original members of the pack.
"Okay, lets go meet her, but can I get a drink first or something?" She was feeling a little tired. She was still very happy but feeling a little drained. She had been worrying about this moment for such a long time but it had happened now and she was happy, just tired.

Kalani chuckled.
"She will love you."
He licked her back and then nuzzled her neck. Oh it was so nice to be close to her again. It would be a surprise for Ola, or maybe not. He had never spoken about Twila but not much got past his aunt.
"Come on this way, you can rest a little first."
There, everything was finally perfect. He had a mate, a beautiful one that he had never expected to come and find him. He was in the pack that he was born into and adored and nothing could make him happier then he was right now.
