Hey Y'all
What advice do you have for someone who thinks about everything before they actually do it.
I mean I hardly ever get into any sticky situations because of it but I also really don't have that much fun either. Atleast fun of the brainless and totally spontaneous kind.

My advice is to keep it up. You're clearly smarter than most Gaians, and will therefore lead a much better life. When you stop using your brain you start doing stupid things like getting your girlfriend pregnant, or cutting. Therefore you should keep up the good work!

I do the same thing and I know it can get sort of boring. Especially because I'm the sort of person who even plans the 'spontanious' stuff. And since I'm the organized one if we ever do things in groups I'm the one organizing everything for everyone.
The problem I find is the spontenaity often takes money. The times I really let free are after I have planned the event and everything is together and fine. They I will let myself do what I want, spend what I want and worry about it later. It feels pretty darn great. So plan for the big scale and let yourself be free in the smaller scale.
Also when you get involved with someone it would probably help if they are an organizing type too. Then you can split the work.

I thought Hamlet Syndrome had to do with repressed sexual desires for his mother.

Soleq Sir_Cathl_Peabody I thought Hamlet Syndrome had to do with repressed sexual desires for his mother. Nope, that an Oedipus Complex. Actually, a lot of critical sources believe that there was a great deal of sexual tension between Queen Gertrude and her son Hamlet. Cathl was probably assuming that the individual in question was referring to this when the person said "Hamlet Syndrome."

I am quite compulsive about OVER thinking things and OVER planning. I guess I'm a good person to bring on a road trip, 'cause I always bring the atlas, the roadside emergency kit, and a fully stocked ice chest o' snacks. That's just how I am.
I don't see that there is neccessarily anything wrong with it, but it can annoy other people I guess. And it can cut down on spontaneous acts, but that's not to big of a trade-off, IMO.

Freud is the man.
I think his theory on repressed sexual urges is soooooo true its just most of us really don't want to admit it.

The story of Oedipus is nothing short of odd, though interesting as it's so disturbing, it's not as if you'll forget it after you read about it.
Was Oedipus a story? Poem? Play? Story made into a play? I can't remember, but I had to read it back in high school, and then watch a video of the play of it.
