The Legend of Deshclovex Mator and Keldor Dragon
Written by Krahazik Dragon

This is a legend about a beast which nearly destroyed Vina and the man who finally brought the demon’s rein of terror to an end.

Chapter Olch
Stardate 23600101

Hello, my name is Zadesh and I am a historian for the Vinorin Alliance. I am going to tell you a tale. This is a time of space, technology and new discoveries. Vina is the home of a huge organization called the Vinorin Alliance. Their technology is advanced and their ships can travel faster than light. They have made contact with a multitude of races and their citizens span a huge are of space. International commerce is a booming business. The only threat to the VA and its citizens are a group called the Pirate Klans but they are only minor irritants and the Vinorin Alliance Military keeps them that way. Vina is a thriving world and many people living there are happing and may come to visit the home of the magnificent Vinorin Alliance.

But a thousand years ago Vina was more primitive. It was an era of magic, knights, kings and castles. Today a member of the Alliance Military caries a very special sword. A sword passed down to him from his father. His name is Krahazik Dragon, and his sword, the Keldor Dragonsword. Which was the savior of Vina along with its creator, Krahazik's eldest relative, Keldor Dragon. That is the storey I am about to tell you, the story behind that sword and its creator.

A thousand years ago Vina was an ok place. Most of the people and kingdoms lived in happiness. A few kingdoms fought one another for land, power, and wealth. The usual reasons for such conflicts. There was a race however which did not ware against the others. The people of the Shiklesh continent, violent by nature, the Shikarins and the Shikelves lived in piece with one another sharing the continent. Although war like they do not seek out conflict or war. They were violent and war like because of where they live. Shiklesh, positioned right on the equator was a tropical land with many creatures, most of them lethal. Every day was a struggle for survival.

The Shikarins lived in the mountains which is the most dangerous place on Vina even today. The Shikarins were adapted to live in these harsh mountains with quarter inch thick scales covering their bodies in vital areas and smaller ones every where else. Their scales are grey and camouflage well with the mountains. They are equipped with strong retractable claws which can cut stone and enable them to move about the mountains easily. Heavily built with strong muscles and a violent nature they can easily take out any of the smaller predators in the mountains which may threaten them. Some of the larger predators such as the huge Dragons and the Margoyals they avoid using instincts, a keen eye, a good sense of smell, and quick reflexes.

The Shikelves are a cross breed of Tree Elves and Shikarins. They have the Shikarins strong build but the Tree Elves thins and agile bodies. Their scales are thinner then that of the Shikarins and they are not as strong. They live in the forest which is the second most dangerous place to live on Vina, bordering the mountain ranges. They live and sleep in a section of the trees just below the canopy. This zone well above the floor is the safest place in the forest but also difficult to reach. The Shikelves are well adapted to live in the forest having exceptional balance which the Shikarins lack and the Shikarins ability to see in the dark. Like the Shikarins however they can not see colors in the dark, but other than that their eyes are as good in the dark as human eyes are in the day. Using excellent hearing, speed and agility is how they survive in the forest.
The Vinorins of all the species on Vina are more closely related to humans than anything else. These are the most active of Vina's inhabitants and it was a Vinorin who brought about Vina's near destruction a thousand years ago.

The Tree Elves are almost identical to the Shikelves but they do not have the large scales or as strong claws. They live in the tree tops and their claws are only strong enough to cut wood for climbing. Living below the Tree Elves are the Wood Elves which don't have scales at all or the claws. They live on the forest floor and are the most in tune with the forest animals than any of the other Elves.

The Dwarfs are your average short muscular men and women who live in mountains and have a very high intelligence. They are the ones who came up with advanced machines that the Vinorins missed or just couldn't make. They invented the air ship which is still in use even today, although the air ships back then did not have engines. The principal design for the float mechanism has not changed much in over a hundred years though.
Then there are the Mandragons. Take a human, slap a pair of bat like or dragon like wings to their shoulder blades, a tail and some scales and you have a Mandragon. Attitude wise they are like humans.

These are the races which make up Vina. Most of them, with the exception of the two races on the Shikarin continent, war amongst themselves each hating the other for the typical reasons for not liking another race. Despite all that Vina was still a thriving planet, until one Vinorin wizard got really greedy.

Chapter Tolch

One day a wizard in his greed for power and wealth traveled to Shiklesh bringing with him five of Vina's most powerful artifacts. In a small clearing in the Davmol Mountains he cast a spell using these artifacts and called forth a monstrous beast from no one knows where. Blinded by greed he did not realize the power he was commanding and he was unable to control the beast.

It had the body of a cockroach, the head, wings and tail of a dragon, the legs of a lion, and two claws of a crab. Its body was black and was covered by several large scales. It had a huge turtle like black scale which covers its entire back and was as smooth as ice. Its tail was as long as its body and ends in a flat tip which fans out like a pair of wings. The edges of the tail wing were black and as sharp as diamonds. The blade extends only about a quarter of an inch into the wing. The wings were attached at the shoulders and the membranes were as black as the body. Its wing fingers and arms were dark green. At the joint of the wing arms where the three wing finger extend out from there is a sharp clear claws extending forward away from the wing. These claws are as clear as a diamonds. The head is attached by a short green almost bronze neck. There were no spikes of any kind on the head. Its ears were elf like and are the same color as the head. Its eyes were as white as pearls and they had no visible iris. Its jaws or beak were the same color as the head and closely resembles the beak of a bird of prey, but not as hard. It had three rows of needle sharp black teeth which were about an inch long and slightly curved inward. Its four legs were at the appropriate locations and are covered with gold colored fur. Its crab like pincers were attached at the shoulders of its front legs and the arms of these pincers were red. The pincers themselves were silver in color and was about a foot long and six inches thick each. The pincers were wide on the inside tapering into a rounded edge on the outside. The very front point of the pincers were black and are as sharp as diamonds.

Deshclovex Mator as the people of Vina have come to call it sent the land into an age of darkness starting with the death of the wizard who created it. Its name means Demon of Magic in the Shikarin language. Deshclovex swept threw Shiklesh like a raging storm and no one was strong enough to stop it, and many tried. Eventually Deshclovex moved its territory to the other continents of Vina. Within a year Deshclovex had plunged the entire world into an age of darkness and despair. Every one who went after the monster was devoured by it and their strengths, skills, knowledge and power was absorbed by Deshclovex making it an even better fighter and more powerful. Within another year all hope was lost from the people and the suicide rate on Vina went sky high. Even the mighty dragons, largest and most feared of all Vina's airborne creatures, fear Deshclovex even though they loved to feed on those injured or killed by Deshclovex rampages. Deshclovex has no friends. It lives only to destroy and devour. It seamed that even the gods of Vina were unable to defeat it, or did not care to try.

It won its battles by brute strength and intelligence. It would find its opponents greatest fear and use it against them. It would find their weakness and use that. It uses a persons own knowledge and power against them. When you fight Deshclovex Mator you are fighting against every person who has fought it and lost. Many perished under Deshclovex and it did not care if you were animal, male, female, child or elderly, it only lived to kill.

Chapter Valch

Ten years after its creation a Shikelf appeared, emerging from the Davmol Mountains like a ghost. He was of average height for his species about six and a half feet tall. Well muscular with a round face. He wore the typical flexible combat armor of the Shikelf covered by a black cloak. His name was Keldor Dragon and he was the most powerful Mage and Mage-Blacksmith in all the lands having a mastery of Arcane Sorcery, Clerical Magic and the art of the Mage Blacksmith. His origins are unknown even today. Nobody knows anything about him or his history. At seeing the devastation he vowed to eliminate Deshclovex Mator and he set out for Deshclovex’s home. The clearing where it was first created.
The clearing is small with no vegetation any where as Deshclovex has eliminated it all. The clearing is surrounded my tall walls on all sides with cracks and openings hear and there. Next to the east wall there is a wide crevice which is very deep and it runs into the mountains disappearing into the north wall and ending at the base of the south wall. The exact depth of the crevice at the clearing is unknown even today and you will learn why later. It extends for 3 miles to the north beyond the clearing. Its max depth in that 3 mile stretch is 3000 feet. Satellites come in handy at times.

Anyway, there Keldor challenged Deshclovex and the battle that ensued was a fierce one lasting for a good twenty four hours. Most of the fights against Deshclovex only lasted about five minuets if that. In the end Keldor had lost, BUT, he survived and managed to escape it. This had never been done before and it brought hope back to the people. Deshclovex did not escape the battle entirely undamaged either. After the battle it had a nasty scar across its face just under its right eye and a crack on the left top side of its beak. Its right hind leg was crippled and its left pincer was missing its black claw. There was also a chip in Deshclovex tail blade. These seamed to be permanent wounds which all of Deshclovex’s magic could not heal.

Keldor then disappeared into the largest mountain in the Davmol Mountains for fifty years. During that time Keldor addressed his wounds, recovered his strength and found a mate and had a son. His son however did not inherit Keldor's power. Little is known as what exactly happened during those fifty years with Keldor. Just that he would venture into the nearby town to the mountain and would collect supplies. It was in that town that he met his mate and has his son.

Deshclovex was infuriated with Keldor and hunted for him every day. After forty years the people began to doubt Keldor and eight years after that they started to curse his name as Deshclovex was even worse than before, but always searching for the one that got away, the one who hurt it. In its rampaging about it eventually destroyed the town with Keldor's mate, killing her in the process. Keldor's son survived as he was living with Keldor at the time. Deshclovex never new the importance of that town or how close it came to Keldor. To Deshclovex it was but one of thousands of town and cities it had destroyed.

Then Keldor returned without his cloak. Wearing bran new combat armor, he carried with him a bran new sword. He called it the Dragonsword and it soon came to be known as the Keldor Dragonsword. The handle was made of a brownish red Shikarin Hardwood and had a huge Black Diamond embedded at the base of the handle. The guard was almost black with an intricate curving design with three points on each side. One hundred percent pure gold lined the edges of the guard around a green design. Keldor's emblem of a dragon’s open wing on a blue field within a circle was pictured in the center of the green design on the guard on both sides. The outer edge of the circle was ringed with gold. The blade was pure white and is two and a half feet long. The blade has two edges and an inscription at the base of the blade where it meets the guard. When the blade is pointed to the sky the inscription is right side up. The inscription reads: "Evil has many faces, but evil has no face in the light of this blade."
With the new sword Keldor went to Deshclovex's home clearing and challenged it again. This time the battle lasted three days and in the end neither Deshclovex Mator nor Keldor was seen again. Only Keldor's Dragonsword was left, which his son recovered. Covering the crevice was a dome like cover which nothing can penetrate, not even today’s satellites. In the center of the cover facing outward is the emblem of Keldor Dragon and under are these words: "Evil lies imprisoned beneath this cap, but be ware for evil will return. When the heavens are known and light is slow. When a Dragon is not gifted and energy becomes matter and matter becomes energy. When the sword lives again, evil will return."
The Keldor Dragonsword has been passed down from father to son ever since. Dragon family has become known as the best Mage-Blacksmiths in all the lands for it is the only skill which Keldor's son has inherited. Even today Kal Dragon holds the tradition and the magic of the Mage-Blacksmith together in a world of science and technology. His son Krahazik unfortunately does not have the gift of the Mage-Blacksmith for some reason. He is the first person in the Dragon family not to be born with that gift.

And that my friends is the Legend of Keldor Dragon and Deshclovex Mator. It is also the story of how the Dragonsword which Krahazik now caries was made.
