Twisting the papers that the doctor at the clinic had given her in her hands, Min took a moment outside the door to compose herself. It's good news, she thought to herself, determined that she (at least) would be convinced by nightfall. Good news, all around.

Why shouldn't it be? The strange changes weren't part of the sudden shift of power in her body (from outside to in). Her blood cell count was fine, nothing was acting up at all. Even the sudden lack of feminine... afflictions was normal. It should all be fine, she'd always said she looked forward to menopause anyway!-

Except it wasn't menopause. The papers tore in her grip, and she took another deep breath and reminded herself of the vows both of them had taken just a month and a half or so ago. Her grasp on the papers loosened, just barely, and she opened the door. Instead of pausing to pull off her walking shoes- even though she had passed her test a week ago, she still preferred walking over driving anywhere- she walked straight to the workspace where she was fairly sure Brad would be.

Innocuous, she thought; it looked the same as it always did, even though she felt like something should be different other than the space inside her head. And there, of course, bent over his laptop, was her husband. That brought a smile to her face, though a little bit of the tension brought about by the news in her hands remained in the corners of her eyes. "Annyong haseyo," she murmured, standing in the doorway uncertainly. "Are you busy?"

It should have been a trivial thing to fix, but no, his employers had gone and bungled the hell out of the project he had presented them. They wanted a little of this influence with a dash of that, nevermind that pointy things did not balance on round. He was fairly certain any monkey could figure this out, but apparently it was a source of contention and thus something that fell neatly into his lap for him to fix. He had been concentrating on the dynamics of a certain angle and distribution of weight, close to possibly solving the frustrating formula when Hae-min's voice gently took him out of his reverie.

Brad blinked indigo eyes, turning his attention from his lap top to his wife. Years ago, the interuption would have infuriated him, incited him into rage unbefitting of his large frame and a shouting match to follow. Those days were long gone, his growing smile a testiment to his own growth as a person and his priorities. The man stood, crossing the room with open arms to Hae-min, enveloping the smaller woman into a warm and sincere embrace. "Hey gorgeous," he murmured softly into her hair, his smile almost audible in his voice, "to what do I owe the pleasure?"

He pulled back just enough to look her in the eye, his brows raising slightly at the look on her face, lifting one hand to draw his thumb over her cheek. "Hey, you look tired," he said lightly, in his own version of asking what was wrong. Brad tried not to ask blatantly because he knew his wife had much on her plate, certainly not anything she needed to share with him, and his small statement was a way of letting her talk or let him know it wasn't to be broached without the anxiety in the air.

She didn't seem upset, so he wasn't too worried about her reaction, waiting with an encouraging smile.

Immediately she smiled a little brighter, and though the problem didn't go away she felt like it'd be all right. Hae-min hugged him back almost automatically, not just because it was comforting but because she was grateful for the smile and the compliment. "I am," she murmured, unsure if she was going to tell with that phrase or just letting it go at that. The papers in her hand were mocking her, she was sure of it.

With a soft mumble of nonsense in her native language, she pulled back and looked at her toes. "I, ah..." Uncertainly, she took a deep breath. "I went to the clinic today, to pick up my results." Which he had known she was going to do, at least if he'd gone in the kitchen because that's where she had left the note on the counter. "And," she unfolded the papers, smoothed out the crinkles in the paper. "They told me I was... pregnant," she finished, looking up at Brad like she had been caught very, very wrong-footed.

"Pregnant?" he echoed with a light smile, "That's--"

And then he remembered Hae-min was his wife.

And she was pregnant.

And that meant the father...

His face seemed to drain of all human expression, which gathered in his wide blue eyes. He stared at the smaller woman for several heartbeats, as if waiting for a joke or to hear a corrected word, because Hae-min being pregnant just wasn't seeming to click in his mind. Brad had been so careful with her, so gentle in their sessions and safe, but Halloween night resurfaced in his mind, and he actually felt his cheeks darken at the memory.

She was pregnant. "Pregnant," he repeated, his voice far away, still trying to absorb the news. His precious friend and beloved wife, traditional and upstanding Hae-min, was pregnant. And not just pregnant, but pregnant with his children. Theirs. They had created life between them, and now she was...

"We're pregnant?!" The interlude of blank surprise broke, excitement stealing over his sharp features, making him look much younger than his age. Brad leaned down and wrapped her into another embrace, laughing and lifting her to twirl into his room, putting her back onto her feet and kissing the woman sweetly upon her lips. "We're...gonna have kids," he grinned, words breathy. He was excited, not just because there was a baby in his future, but because it was with Hae-min. He was genuinely falling in love with his wife more and more each day, and the news only made him giddy, prompting another bit of disbelieving laughter and a hug.

"Are...are you okay with that?" he looked at her suddenly, wondering if his enthusiasm was going the wrong direction.

She waited for something, gray-blue eyes huge in her face. "Yes," she confirmed uncertainly. Not quite knowing what to expect, Hae-min still extremely surprised to be spun around the room and then kissed. A relieved smile broke across her face and she couldn't help but laugh too, pressing her hands delicately against his shoulders. She couldn't have predicted that one and was, for once, glad that something (someone) fell outside her control.

But was she okay with the baby? Well, in theory, of course. One day. Right now, at this moment? she wasn't so sure, but... Brad was happy, which made her feel a lot better about the whole thing. One hand drifted down to her abdomen, and she wondered if the baby could hear them yet. Maybe she should ask Mi-na, her third elder sister always knew things like that...

"Yes," she assured him, "I'm all right with it, the baby, perfectly, if you are."

Something he had said, the line about kids, settled in, and she gently smacked him on the chest; though she tried, she couldn't quite keep the fear out of her eyes. Seung had died having twins... "I certainly hope it's only one," she said, trying very hard to sound jokingly serious, leaving her palm where it had landed. "For now," she amended with a sweet smile.
