I do not know why...but i have always been the same way. I do not care for guns or the damage they can bring in war, or conflict. I rather take up a bow, and hope that my one arrow flies straight and true. Or to live by my sword. I have always longed for a time without cars, and a time for horses. a place with so much open space...that there is nothing to hear but the silence of it all. to have a right and a wrong, a good and evil. And not always an in-between. I think that is why I like to play D&D sometimes. it is a way for my to imagine a place, people, creatures, a whole world like the one i wish to live in. A time when it did not matter who you were...you fought for yourself, your loved ones, your home. but what do I do...I can not get that. I can not live that. I can not do anything.

yes I can admit that I am, and would. though i never actually have. D&D is role play but it is not live action...if you were to consider that to be LARP then whenever you and DLS Rp going off or you being on her leash...then you are LARPING. As to paintball, I have played it a few times and it was in it's own sense enjoyable...but it is for all purposes LARPing war. Or persent day battle tattics.

if anything there is just a difference in era of war. I get the wizard stuff is lame. but you are simply trading padded pipe shaped like a sword...for balls of paint. you are still larping

Paintball isn't recreating war.
Anyone who thinks so is an uninformed babbling moron.
It's like saying playing tag is recreating combat, because you run around poking people (or whatever), which could be seen as a stabbing motion.
Paintballers don't imagine to be some strange knight or something. We are who we are. We don't need to come up with strange s**t to escape reality.
(All these posts are made without including Milsim paintballers, who do recreate combat, but only make up a small part of paintball. They're mostly idiots though.)

Considering ALL sports have rules and guidelines that must be followed whether it's Paintball or Baseball.Ghostz is right, Larping is pretending to be something you're not to escape reality for a while, While Paintball as with other sports is an active form of recreation.

let me try another way. I am not talking about sports. nor am i talking about pretending to be someone else. I might try it once....but i never have. I do think that pretending to be a wizard and through rice or a sock ball as a spell is pretty lame. but that does not mean that you can not fight with/by a sword. even today there are people that use their bows...or maybe even in fenceing. that is a sport. all i am simply saying and you all must truly be idiots because not one of you can understand this. that all i wish for, or dream about is to be in a different era of time when taht was the principal method of defending yourself.
as for paintball...that is/can be fun. I have said that. but it is still a paintball GUN and you do play a side, with a goal...you shoot at each other. it is combat, and for all purposes you are a soldier on the side with which you are fighting for. if you stick out and have poor aim...you are not going to do very well. and no one wants to be taken out of the game. such as it is with sword fighting. you want to make it to the end. you want to defeat this enemy in front of you. OR take out the guy that is your cross-hair and is the only defender to the other teams flag....or whatever. you want to take out the other team and accomplish your goal. in that respect it is the same. I have not meant to offer any disrespect. but you have truly shown you ignorance!

The only thing related to paintball is establishing dominance over the opposition. But that's so in not just sports, but life in general.
If everyone thought like you did, the sound of a closing door would be music, killing someone would be the same as knocking him out, throwing a bucket of water on someone would be considered rain, etc.
