It was one of those rare winter days, the sun was shinny brightly over the trees and the temperature was warmer than it usually was. Which is what brought the little curious foul out of hiding. Her legs had just adjusted, but were still a little clumsy.
Nevara trotted slowly and as quite as she could possibly manage. After all, Papa wouldn't be happy to know that she was off without him. Again.
Drat!
Another stumble on a loose tree root had her off balence and on her knees. Was she ever going to get used to this? It didn't seem like it. At least anytime soon. But she got up quickly, checked for any noises in fathers direction and was on her way again. "Thank goodness. That vas a close vone."

Taigi watched his quick, exhilarated breaths come out in puffs of warmth in the crisp, still air. The sun shone brightly and warmed his foggy-striped back, but there was no questioning to the temperature's decrease from several moons back. Once again, he was following his natural explorative habit, stealing away from "home" and his father's watch.
There was a far-off, yet piercing thud of hoof against wood, and the colt's ears perked, swiveling to catch the direction. As he figured it out, he started in said direction, keeping his pace a cautious trot. When he came relatively near, however, he heard a mumble of words, were there more than one?
Of course, he wouldn't have been intimidated in the least if there was more than a single being in the area, so he continued on. Closer and closer still, until he could make out movement some distance away. Just a few steps, and he was behind a voluminous tree trunk, peeking around at a pale blue shape that was a filly.
He was quite surprised to find someone his age, due to the fact that most of his recent encounters were those with older Soquili. That said, he was frozen in his "safe space" for a long moment, watching the shape just a bit smaller than his own move about. Regaining his bearings after said moment, he proceeded cautiously approaching, unsure of how to confront her. He was left frozen where he stood once more, however, due to another piercing crack, this time from directly beneath him.

Nevara wiggled her small frame to dislog the dirt that had gathered on her coat from her fall and start on again. The sun was shinning through the trees lighting the area around her. Her eyes caught sight of another foul around her size, slightly bigger than herself and black. Was that a horn? Cool!! And his tail was different than her own. She swayed her own as if getting the feel of it.
She tilted her head, ears alert as she examined him more closely for a moment. He's so preeetty!
"Hi!" She said automatically, her voice coming out more of a squeak, but she didn't seem to mind as she hopped once in place to get his attention. Her eyes were light as she grinned waiting for him catch sight of her, if he hadn't already.

Taigi's ears perked as the filly spoke. To him. Finding this reason enough to think her friendly and inviting, he stepped away from the tree trunk. The light shone on her and he could see her clearly now.
She wasn't like him, not a Unicorn. Her coat was a pretty light blue, almost mint green and dusted with white and black speckles. Her socks were a musky blue, running into green hooves lined with silver. She had bright blue eyes, complimented by white freckles and her black bangs fell to the side of her cheek.
He smiled brightly, bounding over to her, skidding to a stop when he was a tail's length away. "Hello! I'm Taigi!"

Her smile brightened even more when she received a friendly greeting in return. When he came out from behind the tree she was able to get a better look at the new colt. His back had a white fog pattern and his eyes were a bright green, even brighter than the grass.
Her tail flickered happily behind her as her front legs hopped slightly. This was the first time she had met someone outside her immediate family and excitement seemed to radiate off her. "Taigi!" she repeated happily sticking her muzzle close to his and smiling again. "I'm Nev-vara" she stuttered. "Shhh... Daa doesnt know i snuck away again." The fact that she was probably the loudest of them didnt register to her. She glanced behind her to make sure her father still wasn't there and signaled for her new colt friend to follow her further away. "Come vone"
The accent she had sometimes made it hard to understand some of her words but it never seemed to bother her in least. Even if she was made fun of for it she always kept a smile on.

For a moment, Taigi stood there blinking. How easily she seemed to accept him, not questioning a single trait of his. His eyes widened when her muzzle neared his, but he couldn't help but grin at her antics. "Nevvy, then!" He wondered if she'd mind having a nickname.
And the filly spoke strangely. The vowels were introduced by a letter pronounced differently than he would have spoken it. He found her speech lovely, however. It was different, and if there's anything Taigi loved, it was the difference between the many things around him.
He followed her, trustingly. This action would have been branded as just plain stupid if if it were an adult or one of the vile species dubbed 'Kalona' and 'Skinwalker', but this blue-green, grounded Soquili came across as trustworthy. "Where are we going?" He couldn't help his curiosity, there.

Her ears perked up at the nickname and she turned back and flashed another bright smile. Nevvy. She had never had a nickname before. Hmm maybe I can pick vone for him too... but vhat?
For a moment her mind got side tracked when he asked where they were headed. "Somevhere Daa cant vind us. He'd probly be mad." Through the bushes and further away from her family she went until she found a secluded area free of treacherous tree roots with a little water whole surrounded by thick mud. It wasn't very large, perhaps big enough to fit 4 adults which meant it was perfect for them. She grinned back at Taigi, her tail swishing excitedly behind her.
"Tai, ve're here!" she announced.

Taigi gulped when she mentioned her father being cross. He was a little older than she and colored in a treacherous black, what if he thought he'd wanted to harm her and pulled her away? "Um... Nevvy, what happens if your Daa finds us?" Once again, he couldn't withhold a question, even though this one was better asked than experienced.
But when they neared the water hole, his green eyes widened excitedly, "wow, this is great, Nevvy!" He grinned back at her, his own tail not too coy to reveal his enthusiasm.
They were the only two inhabiting the area at that moment, and he was clear out of fun ideas. There was water. And mud. He knew what he'd do if his brother's were here, that thought brought a devious grin to his features, but it wasn't proper to play in the mud with a young filly, was it? Especially seeing her light colors, Taigi was sure her Daa would be quite angry to see it blemished.

Nevara shrugged to his first question. She wasn't really sure what he'd if she was found away from home without telling him. But she wasn't in the mood to be followed or coddled. "He vont vind us. I've been here bunches of times!" She was young and in her mind the color and appearance of other shouldnt really matter but she never asked her father about what he thought. It just never seemed very important to her. Everything different to her was beautiful or fascinating or both.
The little filly crouched down and wiggled her butt awkwardly, a small mischievous grin claiming her features. Her target, Tai. She leapt awkwardly at him, aiming for the mud bank just at their side. "Gotcha!" she announced triumphantly. Having a slightly over brother sometimes came in handy and right now it seemed this was one of those times.

Once again, the filly left Taigi blinking. And splattered with mud, of course. What to do, what to do? What if her father ended up to be something more dangerous than a simple stallion, taller than him. Just as before, however, he cleared his head and decided to have some fun.
He laughed, perhaps to distract her attention, all the while swiveling his lion's tail about in a particularly thick mud-puddle. When he felt it getting heavy with muck, he jumped away to the right, whipping his tail about and sending a "mud ball" right at Nevara.

She snickered and moved off Taigi, giving him room to move from beneath her. And when she turned toward him again the first thing she saw was a mud hurtling toward her, then 'whap!' Her face was covered with the thick mud. "Mean trick!" She responded giggling. Throwing her head forward she shook the excess mud from her face, just enough to allow her to see and went after him, kicking up as much of the mess as she could manager. Her small hoof got stuck and she went head first into the muck. Her face yet again covered in the stuff. "Ahhgg!"
She sat there for a moment, face covered with mud that was slowly sliding off her face. Then slowly turned her head to where Taigi was last and stuck her tongue out at him.

He was running away, smirking as Nevara chased after him, although she did a good job of browning his ebony coat. The chilly mud slipped between the cracks in his cloven hooves, and he shuddered a bit when it happened, but kept running joyfully. He had to admit that he liked this, fooling around with another his age.
Taigi kept up his pace until there was a splash! and he turned to find his new friend stuck in the mud, head-first. He immediately swerved about, making a wave of mud rush off toward the 'shore' that was dry as the winter air. "Nevvy, are you okay?!" He sniggered as she stuck her tongue out at him, coming close to help her up anyways.
Seeing that his white-tipped tail was quite clean now, he used it to brush some of the mud from her pelt. "I guess I win," he smirked.

Nodding slightly, Nevara smiled up at Taigi. Her white teeth shinning through the darkness of the mud covering her entire body by now. "I'm vine.." she answered softly. She froze as she felt something soft whipping away the now drying dirt from her eyes. It must be Tai "Vanks" She stood up slowly on wobbly legs with his help and pulled each hoof from its muddy trap one by one.
"Vor now, maybe. But i'll vin next time." she teased and kicked up a bit more mud just to make her point.
She laughed again and hopped her way out of the mud hole. "Ve definitely have to do vis again!" She shook herself off the best she could, flinging small dirt and mud pieces everywhere. But at least she could see what her real color was now. She snickered at the thought and looked at Tai and laughed again. "Vow our Daa's are gonna vonder vhere ve vere."

"Yes, we definitely must!" Taigi meant it, too. Even though he was coated in much, he still found the spirit to laugh. He quite enjoyed Nevara's company and certainly hoped her father wouldn't get too angry. Because if he did, he might restrain her from sneaking away. And that meant he wouldn't be able to play with her anymore.
When she spoke of their fathers wondering where they were, Taigi nodded slowly, hoping that they wouldn't all the while. And the mud would surely wear off soon, as all dirt did eventually. This thought froze him however, and his eyes widened once more, his brows tilting up in worried realization.
"You don't have to go yet, do you?" Hadn't they just met a minute ago?

"Not yet! I vas just vhinking." She shook her head a little to enthusiatically. She definitely didn't want to leave yet. They just met after all. And there was still a while until her father was due to wake.
The cool air mixed with the drying muck made her shiver slightly but she endured it. It wouldn't be too long till it dried, cracked and fell away. "vhat do you do around here?" He must have been doing something before she came across him. Perhaps doing the same thing she was. Just trying to sneak away for a little adventure.
