So I finally got the DVD, at a pretty good price I might add, and finally got to watch the show. Wahoo. I even got an extra disk 2. Why I don't know, it was just there.

So here is the question. Why did they end the series? It was no worse than any other show on primtime. It didn't have quite enough special effects and, as always, they screwed up small things that should have very easily been made to match the books, and they picked the wrong actor for harry. But those are small problems, why didn't the tv show get to contiune?

I have no idea, and wish to know. SciFi tends to make stupid decisions. *sigh*

As a separate entity from the books, the show wasn't bad at all. I enjoyed it. The show led me to the books. At the least, I am indebted to it for that.

Supid decisions like ending Stargate-SG1 after a mere 10 years and now ending Stargate Atlantis?

If I remember correctly, and I could be oh so very wrong, they're canceling SGA because they only have the budget to do one SG show at a time, and they REALLY wanted to make a new SG show... SG-Continum or something. I agree, it's lame. They're finally getting into the swing of SGA, we're getting attached to the characters, they've got a world of possibilities, I want to know more about the Wraith, and we have Beckett. WHAT MORE COULD YOU WANT?

oi.

Anyway... I honestly think Dresden just wasn't getting the attention it needed or the time required to flourish. I think if they had another season or two to iron out the kinks it would have been a very successful show.

All we can do is look back at it fondly, as one would Firefly, and dream of all the "could have beens" and wait for Dresden to hit the silver screen.

Silence is demanded! The Queen speaks!

As a fan of the books first, I didn't really like how they did the show. For some reason it just rubbed me the wrong way. I think it is because the way the book is written you can hear Harry's thoughts clearly, but when he's making his snappy comments in his head on the show it seems more like one of those corny black and white movies or something. The time also kept changing here so pretty soon I gave up even trying to track it.

At least I can watch it on YouTube still. I guess YouTube bought viewing rights to it, but I don't know if it is worth buying yet. I want to start my collection of the new Doctor Who before I start moving back to the Dresden Files.

The Queen has spoken! Now, go forth and CRUSH! KILL! DESTROY!

That's actually the kind of feel both the show and books have. It's part of the noir style of writing and it's one of the reasons why I got hooked. Cheesy by today's standards, some can be. There are old noir films that are done quite well though.

As for the show itself, I thought it was decent. It deviated a bit too much from the books for my taste, but it was still Dresden at its core. I would have liked to see it grow over a couple more seasons. It definitely had potential.

The show never got the best show rating because the majority of the people who watched it were either not into that kind of show or were true dresden files fans and didn't like how the show never exactly went with the book.

None of the actor/actress were exact fits the personalities each actor/actress brought to the characters wasn't all that good. And the look of the actor/actress got some fans upset.

I believe it was okay. It wasn't amazing or good. It was okay and it would of been great for people who had NEVER heard of the dresden files because it kept with the idea of dresden and the other characters but it just never kicked off the ground to reach its full potential like most of you have said.

It was okay but it wasn't great. I haven't gotten rid of the dvd set and i still do watch it because its The Dresden Files and It's fun to watch on occasions.

I agree.
very very few of the facts were right: they made Bob a ghost when he's an air spirit, Murphy was brunnette, what was up with Ancient Mai? they messed with the story line in Storm Front, his staff and blasting rod were ridiculous... sorry i'm ranting, if i had never read the books i would have loved the show, but the fact they messed with the idea so much really buggs me.

Everything.

If you were a Dresden Files fan first, everything was wrong.
If you watched the show first/independantly from the book, everything was just not-that-good. Its a mediocre show with a scatterbrained plot.
