The Spring time sunshine was seeping through the green, glossy leaves of the tree planted years ago in Maisie's front yard. Clouds were nowhere in sight and the birds were singing their morning tune. It wasn't even ten o'clock yet but still Maisie was stepping out her front door to inhaling the early aromas of regular Spring day. A black backpack full of nifty little doodads and thingamabobs. She liked to collect all sorts of things and her little pal Diego was a pro at assisting her search. Today was different, however. Today she wanted to see if Hayden would help her out.
Hayden was really never a social fellow, but he wasn't irritating to be around. He just tends to keep to himself and doesn't get involved. You see, he's more of the shy and timid type when it comes to making friends or trying something new. Maisie was determined to break that, however. She wanted him to get involved and feel like part of her circle of furby friends. After all, she did love him just as much as any of the others.
"Well, now that we're outside we can start looking around. Huh, Hayden?" She looked down at the little green highlighted Furby cradled warmly in her arms. Her happy expression seemed to fade though when she noticed his nervous expression. Was he really not looking forward to this? She thought spending time with him would help but if he didn't want to make the effort then why force him to?
Walking off her front porch she walked around in her yard to get him used to the feeling of exploring, little by little. "Hey, don't be so scared... I'm sure you'll find something fantastic. Then it can be put in the pack." At those words, Hayden seemed to perk up a little bit out of curiosity. Maisie's face lit up with enjoyment when she saw him taking interest.
Taking confident strides out of her yard and onto the sidewalk she began to walk down the street of her neighborhood. The sun lighting up the day and drying the early morning dew off the lawns. Hayden kept his beak shut the entire time but you could sense that he was getting a bit excited for the possibilities of finding something to impress Maisie and the other Furbies.

Max was in his front yard and bored, he had no one to play with so he decided to go on a treasure hunt. No items were hid for him so he just looked for anything neat looking, even if it was something as unimportant as a feather. His finds challenged Vicky to do something creative with whatever he found.
Yesterday she made a doll with feathers for hair and buttons for eyes. The day before that she made a clay pencil holder to hold all the crayons, pencils, and pens he found that day. Whenever he went out searching for items she knew she'd have to make something out of them because it made his treasures seem more important to him.

As Maisie carried her little precious package she noticed a sudden change in his curious behavior. As they passed a certain yard Hayden began to squirm shyly. Like he did whenever he was around other Furbies. "H-hey... quit that. What's gotten into you?" Maisie stopped her steady pace and looked down at Hayden. Even though Maisie was staring down at Hayden he had his sights focused on something else. In a yard, searching around for something was a childish looking Furby. It's coat painted with whites purples and blacks. He was adorable and interesting looking. Plus, the way he was searching made her wonder if he needed something to do. Maybe a friend to play with. That thought caused Maisie to dart her eyes back down at Hayden. "Lets go make a new friend..."
Hayden looked nervously at Maisie and opened his little beak to speak but no words came out. He couldn't argue with her because he knew she would make him either way. She stepped into the yard and walked over to the smallish Furby and knelt down. "Hello there, little fellow. You looking for something?" She set down Hayden gently on the grass. Almost instantly Hayden scurried his little fluffy butt behind her to hide. She sighed deeply and reached behind her, pushing Hayden back into the sight of Max.

Max looked up from what he was doing to see a human and her furby enter the front yard. Vicky told him never to talk to strangers but this one didn't seem so bad. He trustingly smiled up at her, looking at Hayden as he was pushed back into eyesight. He was surprised at how colorful this one was, he noticed this one was also shy. Just like Kel and Seth had been that day he met them at the park.
"Max look down, look here and there and everywhere to find this or that. Big fun! Max find treasure like pirates do." He didn't mean gold, he meant feathers, pens, buttons, anything really. He had just heard about pirates from TV. His ears drooped low against his head and he frowned. "Boring finding all alone."
He was getting better at English, he always tried to be good at whatever he does so he was a good listener and a decent student when Vicky played 'school' whatever that is, and Vicky acted as teacher.
He showed them his most recent find, a small bottle of golden glitter, probably left behind from an arts and crafts project weeks before. Maybe dropped by a kid making something. It was half buried, so it had been there a while.
Knowing what to do around shy furbys Max covered his eyes with his big ears. "I no see you!" He did a little foot dance while his eyes were still covered, wobbly in his goofy attempt to make Hayden smile. Why be shy if the person your shy about can't see you?

Maisie watched with great amusement and laughed lightly at the small dotted Furby's words. When Furby's spoke, it often was adorable no matter what they said. Hayden on the other hand watched Max carefully, observing his every word from the safety of Maisie's hand. Soon after Max decided to shield his eyes from Hayden's sight he began to chuckle softly. "Teehee, good fun. You good pirate." He stared at the shimmering bottle of glitter and wished to find something just as entertaining for Maisie's collection. Figuring he liked Max, Hayden strolled over to the temporarily blind Furby and stood proud next to him, looking up at Maisie. "I find good thing!" He looked at Max, indicating he wanted Maisie to add him to her collection.
Maisie laughed and shook her head. "No no, Hayden. We can't put him in the backpack. That would be ... stealing. He belongs to somebody, I'm sure." She looked around and then at the house who's lawn they were on. "He must live here. Hold on a second. I'm going to go check." She stood up from the ground and left Hayden with Max while she went to the front door and knocked.
Hayden looked over at Max who's eyes were still covered and took a few steps back. The safety of his owner was now gone and he was left practically alone with this new stranger. His ears slowly began to fold down to his head as he wished silently to himself the other Furby wouldn't uncover his eyes. He liked not being able to be seen. Hayden's large toes began to shiver beneath his furry body as he waited for Maisie to get back.

Max got dizzy from all his dancing and spinning. He fell over on his back, ears off of his eyes, but eyes closed so the world would stop moving. He didn't see the other Furbys dilemma of worry. "Who you?" He asked the other furby, not knowing his name.
Vicky answered the door, looking curiously at the stranger in front of her. Just beyond her she saw another Furby beside Max. And..."Max, are you okay?" She called with concern, noticing he wasn't on his feet. "Me okay!" He called back to his human. She visibly relaxed, anyone with a Furby wasn't someone to really worry about. "Hello, who are you?" She asked the lady in front of her.
She had two little pirate hats made of black construction paper in her hands, with white skulls and crossbones on the front of each hat. Probably colored in with a white crayon. There were two because Vicky knew with Max's energy the first hat wouldn't last long.

Hayden chattered his beak from his nervousness but as soon as the other Furby fell right on it's back he looked a bit concerned. Then a question came from Max's yellow. Who was he? He was Hayden. Surely, it wasn't as easy as thinking it. So slowly, Hayden opened his beak and was about to speak when a human's voice came booming from the front porch. From the startle he jumped and sharply turned around to see who it was. When he realized it was a voice belonging to his owner he relaxed and turned back to Max. At least he was okay. "I Hayden. Who you?" He finally had at least enough courage to ask. This seemed to be getting easier and easier for him as time passed.
"Oh, I uh.... I'm Maisie. I was just taking Hayden, the little fur ball down there, and I figured... to let Hayden say hi." She was sort of getting distracted by the little paper hats in the lady's hand. "What's that for?" She questioned her while pointing to her arts and crafts project.

Max opened his eyes, blinking them to focus. Seeing Hayden's fear he covered his eyes with his ears again, rolling onto his stomach and bouncing onto his feet, standing. "I Max. Want find treasure with me? Be pirate too?" He asked.
"Nice to meet you Maisie, feel free to let Hayden play with Max anytime. Max needs to get out and meet his own kind more since he's the only Furby I've got and he gets lonely sometimes." She paused at her question, looking into her hands. "Oh! These? Their for Max. He's been pretending to be a Furby pirate lately so I made him these for the fun of it. Two because he has a lot of energy to burn and his first hat may get damaged what with all his running around." She explained, embarrassed that she was caught in the middle of doing something silly.

Hayden stared at Max for a moment or two, considering this kind furry kid's offer. "Find Treasure? Be pirate? Good fun." He smiled widely. Well, as wide as beaked little Hayden could. He looked back at Maisie and her new acquaintance and then back to Max. "You help find good goods, yes?" He wanted to get something spectacular so that Maisie would show to the others at home what a fantastic job he did.
She smirked widely and breathed out a small, "Thanks... Hayden needs the interaction." Maisie was on vacation from school and was pretty bored these past few days. Repeatedly searching for little doodads was just getting boring if you've looked in all the same places recently. Never before had she thought about arts and crafts. Making little toys for Hayden or her other babies. "That's really neat! Mind showing me a few things I could make for Hayden? He really has no interesting toys."

Vicky smiled and handed her the two little hats. "Sure, could you give these to the two little fluffballs over there while I gather some of Max's things? I'll be right back!" She disappeared through the door.
Max smiled, great, he had someone to find good goods with! "Me ask see you?" He asked hopefully, wanting his vision back. The trick worked with shy furbys but it left him wanting to see. "No find good goods here or there or anywhere if no see." He reasoned.
He was squirming to get started! Maybe Vicky would let them out of the yard to look other places too. He was eagerly excited. He now had a new friend!
Vicky came back with a small scrapbook she had of all of Max's toys and crafts. There was the day he made a spaghetti noodle bridge on 'play with your food' day. The noodles had been dried and uncooked, then glued together to make whatever he wanted. There was his candy and gingerbread house, his stick people made of fruit and toothpicks. His Popsicle stick fence surrounding the house..
Then there was dress up day. That was a lot of fun for him because he got to make what he wore. He chose it she would add it into his outfit. She also had a lot of fun dressing him up where she could. A toy cowboy hat, a Native American headband complete with a feather he had brought home. The pirate hat would be another addition to that page.
She had made him a small toy box decorated in sea shells he had collected during a series of beach trips. She had made tiny sandals for him so his feet wouldn't get sandy. She made a teddy bear for him to snuggle at night. She made a small bed. He had a tiny skateboard she had been forced to make since their weren't any his size. She saw Max covering his eyes so she doubted his friend would be bold enough for skateboards so she waited for the woman to see all the pictures before turning the page.
There was superhero day. Max looked so funny with a baby blanket as his super hero cape. He wore it so proudly though along with a paper mask she had cut out for him that he colored.
A fake Halloween day led to the making of paper spiders on white yarn string. A pillow case turning into his ghost costume and several other custumes he tried on next to his fake grave stone. Made of Styrofoam, painted grey with black lettering. Even made a spooky coffin.
She even showed the picture of the day Max found a tiny pine tree and insisted they decorate it without chopping it down. It was a recent Christmas project for them as they made presents for each other.
The she showed other various toys she made for him.
( *faints for the mental bomb of trying to think of creative toys that can be made that your Furby might of liked or disliked* )
