Anyone into Ayurveda? Sorry if there's already a topic on this, I didn't see one. I won't bother explaining what it is, if you don't know, you can go find out. Just wondering if anyone else follows Ayurveda smile
I do, and I'm vata-kapha type, but I also sometimes have tendencies towards pitta (I wonder if it's anything to do with me being an aries?).
Ayurveda has really impacted my life, even my way of thinking has changed because it makes life seem more simple sometimes, like when you can put someone's actions down to their dosha or bad diet etc.
Currently I'm loving sweet potato curried soups for the cold weather!

Well i know what it is, but no i do not practice it.
I love India and their customs, so perhaps i should look more into it ^^

Do you mean the food related aspects or alternative medicinal?

Both/either

You really should look more into it, it can be confusing at first, but once you figure out your dosha and what works for you, it can really make a difference to your life.

I've been really wanting to get into it. I forgot what I was, I can name the characteristics, but not the name.

I find all of it very interesting and hope to actually try it out as best as I can. There are certain things that I know I'd have a hard time, one being eating the biggest meal for lunch. That'd be hard for me since I'm married and dinner's the biggest meal for us. My husband thinks I'm crazy when I'm interested in things like that. But the certain foods that one should eat makes a lot of sense and I often feel off if I eat foods not part of my type.

And I second Onicoe, what books/sites/blogs do you recommend?

my hard drive crashed recently so I don't have all of the sites I used to use, but I can remember a couple:

According to that quiz (and another I found here: http://doshaquiz.chopra.com/ ) I'm a Kapha.

I've looked into it before, but don't follow it closely. I figure it's more important to REMEMBER TO EAT ENOUGH FOOD than to obsess over whether it's the right kind of food, you know? (I'm prone to forgetting to eat and accidentally losing weight when under stress).
But it's nice to have outside confirmation that my preference for cooked vegetables over raw ones is a sound one, and that eating fatty foods is good for me not an unhealthy indulgence (being rather clearly a Vata type). And a reminder to go make some nice hot strong ginger tea instead of sitting here shivering in my five layers of clothing plus blanket. *toddles off to kitchen*

I am a Vata according to the quiz. It's pretty accurate, but some things are off...like I so do not have dry hair, heh (though i so wish i did) And I don't miss meals, although today I almost did, hee hee.

And I'm Vata according to http://www.whatsyourdosha.com/ I like this quiz better.

@Jestina: Mmm, yes ginger tea! I'm such a Vata in that way. I think I'll make some too.

yes of course just eating healthily is enough usually, but if you did have some kind of ailment then ayurveda can help resolve it, so in that way it is worth looking into. It can also help sometimes in mental health or life issues too, it's not just about your body type. smile

Yeah it's not always 100% right, since everyone has all three doshas within them anyway, so even though you are mainly vata, you will have aspects of other doshas that are apparent in your mind and body, these can even change sometimes because all doshas are affected by your lifestyle and the time of day/year and weather, etc.

That's quite interesting. I found that the dosha most quizzes assigned me (pitta) was fairly accurate - certainly moreso than the other doshas. (I checked, just to make sure I wasn't getting Forered.)

I'd like to cross-reference the dosha system with the "eat right for your bloodtype" theory. razz
